Outstanding video, other videos out there showing to remove the cross beam but after watching your process I feel this may be the easiest. You made it look pretty easy. I was tempted to get a regular radiator but after seeing how well this aluminum one you used fits without crazy modifications and everything lining up I'm sold on one of these. Now I have to hope to find the same one lol or at least like it. Thanks again for the complete process and explanation.

Anyone else out there who reads this and needs to do their H2 radiator all I can say is follow this process. @@MichaelEd Thank you my brother. The radiator is actually next on my list. Right after the AC blowing cold then warm and some weird popping sound I get when I turn at low speeds. I researched all the noises it could be and the shop even hooked up mics around the vehicle to try and pinpoint it. I do enjoy driving it though.
Thanks for the video, my h2 developed a leak from the plastic cracking just below drivers side main hose, got a replacement unit same as yours, no more plastic. Replace the water pump last year, should have done it then, certainly removed the hood for better clearance.
When I search “how to remove hummer h2 radiator” , others mention removing the hood’s “cross beam” which is the flat steel bar that runs across the top of the radiator. I am glad to see from watching your video that it’s not necessary to remove that.

Excellent video what you did was fantastic. I have the 2005 model and I want to do a transmission cooler upgrade. I was trying to determine the best way to do it given it's like you said the hood totally gets in the way of that particular area. I might be able to take the grille off to see if that will give me more clearance. If you know of an easier way feel free to share bud.👍😎👌
That might help in trying to install the trans cooler to the front area of the radiator, by means of access through the grill opening. I had to remove my front grill when I did the led headlight upgrade. BeSure to check that video “ Hummer H2 LED Headlight Mod!! “ to see what you’ll be need to watch out for when removing your front grill. 👍👍
I have a 2005 h2 hummer and I’m replacing the radiator. Where can I find those connectors? The new radiator transmission does not have the fittings. I’ve tried all my local auto part stores and they do not have them.

Those lines are easily removed by unscrewing them from the radiator. If you are using new fittings and you want to remove the old ones from the line, you’ll need to use a discounted tool that’s sized for the lines. *Like a fuel/AC disconnect tool. I used a small flat-head screwdriver to pry out those metal clips (time stamp 17:15) from the fittings. The “oil” that I was referring to was motor oil. As a reference as to how to get the antifreeze drained quickly, as mention in other videos on how to oil change by unscrewing the plug and opening the cap up top to allow fluid to drain quickly. Radiator replacement….. You got this!!👍👍 Don’t for get to burp the coolant system after you add coolant!! *that process is explained in a video I did ( ruclips.net/video/gjloqWhq45w/видео.htmlsi=QAzwiVf8HKOK0lyJ ) Time stamp about 9:40 incase you don’t have time to watch it completely.
@@MichaelEdthanks! She needs new tires, might have an exhaust leak, and I think the blend door actuator in the dash (the hardest one to reach) is out. I'm not getting any cold air and she won't change airflow directions (floor/defrost/etc.). She's a labor of love, as you know! 🤣
Hello, Michael could you say how this radiator works now? I'm about to buy the same one for H2 but I saw some reviews where people say that the whole aluminium radiator can leak because of the small deformation of the body when you ride off the road for example. Did you have any problem with it?

It’s the factory rad for the Hummer, other than be aluminum. I believe it’s a 2 row like factory. As far as a thicker one thick 3 row I’m not sure, but there was some clearance between the fan and rad. Might be enough room… It shows on eBay that a 3 row will fit a 2003 h2. Make sure you put in your year, make, model to ensure proper torment. If your trying to work the Tahoe,Chevy rad I’d check your measurements. Hope this is helpful.
why didn't you just get the plastic rad.? your oil preasure an alternator guages arn't working. are you gonna send it off for repair? or replace the cluster?
My past experience with plastic radiators have been leaks from cracks in them over time. The aluminum radiator offers better durability and longevity, not to mention better cooling performance over the oem plastic. Your right, my gauges are not properly working, GM stepper motors are most likely the issues. I’m not sure which route I’m taking yet with them. New upgraded cluster seems nice, or I can rebuild the cluster gauge and do a video on that. Still on the fence with the cluster fix atm. @Michael Ed - I have a 2004 H2, and I'm having the darnedest time finding parts. Well, I find them online, but the seller seems out of stock on nearly everything. Where do you go for parts? I heard a couple videos ago that you got some off of Ebay, and I saw an Amazon box, but can't seem to find what I need there either. The part that is eluding me is the rear gate license plate frame (the entire plastic piece that snaps into the gate itself. Some of those plastic clips broke, and it's a mess trying to open the back gate. Any insider suggestions on where to get some of these hard-to-find parts? Great light upgrade videos by the way! Thank you for the content.
I’m looking for the same part also!! My option currently was to put the License plate bolt nylon inserts and install them behind the plastic license plate piece to help. You could also switch out the nylon inserts for nuts and washers, but the edges of the plastic trim piece won’t be secured if the clips are broken off. I’m Thinking of other options to fix that better, and when I get it I’ll make a video for everyone. eBay, Facebook marketplace, and Hummer groups/forums.
Yeah, went to drain my coolant? Drain plug non-existent, the one you’ve showed anyway. I have a plastic “cast” pseudo drain looking spigot on the bottom that goes to nowhere. Looks like it was a cost savings measure to not have to drill it, thread it and put a plug in it…. Gotta love GM nowadays

Yes, after you “burp” the coolant system I had to add some more antifreeze. I used GM coolant. Peak, Preston are also excellent choices.

I just bought a 3 row it clears but I will have to use spacers on both sides that the radiator bolts up.

Maybe two to fill the rad would be a good start.
You can't overfill it, any excess will just puke out of the overflow when it gets up to temp.

Are you replacing the radiator, or fluid?
Changing the thermostat and water pump. Just pulled the bottom rad hose and let er drain slowly. Do whatcha gotta do I guess
