I love twirling crotches. Never know what you're gonna get until you open it up. Sometimes they're nice and sweet. Other times not so much. I like the trashy ones the best. I like turning wood too.
Robert, you had us excited so many different times with the way it was going. The beautiful Rings between the base in the bowl it was gorgeous. Then you got rid of it and made what could have been Steps From the bass up to the Bowl. And then you get rid of that. Hummm... the final outcome is very very pretty but it definitely went where our mind was not going. And what's wrong with Harry I think he needs to see a doctor he has the crotch fetish! If it was anybody else I'd be worried but you know it's just Harry! Good job as usual our friends.. Keep turning!!
That was probably a full bag of shavings, wow. I really like the natural opening of the top. I don’t think the camera did justice to the exposed grain pattern. Always wondered about that orientation of a crotch on the lathe, thanks for experimenting with it.
Thanks! The hollowing system I use is a bit if a Frankenstein. The tool and cutter are Trent Bosch, the articulating arm is from a company called Monster Lathe tools (no longer in business) and the laser bit which is converted to a camera is from Advanced Lathe Tools.
Almost a cracking egg. 🤪 Have not turned a crotch from that orientation, interesting. I tend to favor exposing the beautiful feather grain, so almost always work to that end. At one point, I thought you might go for a sphere. Nice results.
You're right it does look eggish. I'd never turned a crotch like that either and thought the feathering would show on both sides of the hollow form. This kinda worked on one of the sides...oh well!
Really nice, Robert. It wasn't what I expected seeing the raw piece of wood but it's great. Was Harry jealous that you were touching the crotch so much and rubbing oil on it? Take care. Bill
Love the way there's a natural void at the top, rather than round hole - it really lifts the piece.
Awesome piece thanks for making me smile and making me giggle.😍😍😁😁. Go team beaver.
Very nice hodge. Harry seemed to like it
"Twirling Crotch"...sounds like a Metal band! 😆
Lol...for sure!
Very nice Robert as always 👏👍
That looks great. Nice work Hodge. The natural void really makes the piece unique.
Thanks John! That was my intention!
Congratulations Robert, you and Harry made that crouch into a beautiful piece.
Nice job on the piece.
Very nice!
An enjoyable turn, thanks for sharing
Pretty cool vase, Robert. It’s beautiful. Take care. 😊

Yeah...just got to drive right in and hope for the best.
Very nice mate 👍🏻
Woo.amazing
Good decision on repositioning the crotch. I'm always learning something from your videos Robert.
Well done that man not what I was expecting, there again I didn't know what to expect lol
Alan
Phenomenal work, Hodge! Love the character this piece has!
Another awesome turn. Well done!
well done mate
Great looking piece, Robert!
Pretty cool not what I thought you were going to do but it turned out better than what I thought 👍👍

Great video.
What is the hollowing system you are using.

@HodgePodge WoodWorks
Thanks for the information. I am considering buying Trents system. He doesn't live to far away from me here in Colorado.
I like the shape of it. What kind of wood is that?
Very nice crouch oil 🛢 it good 👍 ✌️💪💪

Heh, heh! I thought you were making a light bulb, for a while there! Good video, apart from Harry's salacious comments!

Oh my 🤣
You seemed to have turned turned turned and turned. Wasn’t sure if you had any wood 🪵 left.
