I think this is the first game that has made me say “man I wish the game was full price to buy” and not free. I’m scared of the customization, I am scared of how much DLC will actually be.
that's big facts. A very small percentage of the massive amount of live service games actually do it honorably and with consistent support. I don't think a lot of people realize Skate 4 has so many signs (EA triple A title, non-confirmed monetization method, online only, F2P) that this title is likely be very predatory. The comparisons to Suicide Squad and Marvel's Avengers are spot on imo, those games follow a similar live-service premise, originated from potentially a very similar conceptualization process to what Skate 4 could have went through with EA. EA knows the massive impact Skate 3 had and it'd honestly be stupid and naive to think EA wouldn't try to cash all the way out to the end with Skate 4. F2P, live service from EA that's a sequel to a cult classic? Come on guys. Think about it.

If they're not cutting out the live service aspect by now, they're just being dumb.

Co-Op Filmer mode.

The topic of different areas in Skate that “feel like skating” reminds me of why I always returned to skate 1 even after enjoying the campaigns of 2/3 thoroughly. The map in skate 1 felt more like real life to me. Not everything was a ramp or rail, so finding a good spot felt organic and worth it

i imagine it as getting everybody on skate with an open lobby and prox chat and bombing around hills and finding spots if they implement it right
One aspect that I love about older skate games is the replay ability. I can hop on skate 3 whenever I want without worrying about the servers being down, or ever going down because offline mode exists.

I don’t know much about game development or how much money it takes, that’s why I’m going to college for it, but if I could make Skate 4 the way I wanted, I would go the route they said they were going to in the first place, listen to the community. I would make it like any other game, make it a $60 game, have a story, a lot of different places, like the old games, and expand apon the online mode, like they did with skate 3. Have it as a feature, not a main mode, I would keep the parkour, keep some things realistic, but also go off and do the things the community liked in older games, like a giant meat skin, or different coke codes for skins, cheat codes, a bigger map builder, more camera/recording features. I would just try and take what everyone loved about the past Skate games, but also add some of the new changes they like as well, like more customization options, name brand items, new tricks, the more I see comments on videos for Skate 4 the more I see that people just want another Skate game, nothing too blown out of proportion, they just need to find their roots, and add on to it like they did for the past games, but idk that’s what I would do🤷♂️.
I really want a story mode, and i wouldnt mind if the multiplayer part was free and the storymode was a dlc as long as its good
Played the beta for the new skate game via ea playtesting twice, first time it was mid, second time was so much better i can see the potential
One cool thing that they came do is make a place that is community made and changes every week or two (like the block from Fortnite)

I hope the game feels like real skateboarding. That the environment doesn't feel like it's designed for skateboarding. They will for sure have skateparks and megaparks and fun ridiculous stuff but the thing I enjoyed the most about the first two games was that when you were discovering new spots in the streets it really felt like you "discovered" a skate spot. It felt like it was built for something else and then it's up to you to find a way to skate it.
This live service could go well for ONE reason only. They bring in the true culture of skating. One season we'll get a special map for Rob Dyrdek (And other pro skaters for different seasons) & his skin along with decks, clothes, and specific missions coached by him. They can have X Games updates where we all compete for a prize during that time. They can update it around the Olympics and add the Olympic map and have specific challenges & contests for us along with clothes & accessories. Basically it can have cool Skate 1, 2, & 3 storylines and features but constantly. Updated T-Mobile, Monster Energy, etc. ads being updated & replaced. I see why they're going live service, we're all still playing Skate 3 after 14 years. If it was live service theyd make a killing. But if it's just a Skate. map and nothing but a battle/skate pass with microtrasactions this game is doomed.

Am very late for this but in my ideal world this new skate would focus more on story mode than mp and by story i mean something like a "career" or my skater style of story. Something to get players immersed. Then have mp so u can play coop, or in huge lobbies, little like gta is now. Then there are many many small neat things to add to make the game more immersing and realistic, but this is something id love gameplay wise
i am 100% sure that the game will be like riders republic, grind the missions and upgrade your gear with higher and higher tier stuff
Story mode. OG skate style; get pics/vids for sponsors, rip comps, meet pros. Multiplayer is cool but I played all the skates mainly for the single player aspect. Paid story with a multiplayer season pass. Less arcade crap. Best trick, highest score or S.K.A.T.E.
i believe in skate devs because theyre so open about the development and theyre listening to us
i can guarantee that i'll be disappointed by the final release, but i can also say that i know i'll make my own fun. just the fact you can do proper firecrackers in this game is huge
If it at least has that goofy minigame where you get points injuring yourself comically I’d be pretty happy, that was like one of the only things I played back when I played Skate 3 years ago.

If it has a decent online experience and awesome spots to skate I’m all in. I found with skate 3 after the countless hours I put in I was just getting bored of skating the same spots and not having new challenges to do
I know someone who has played the playtest from a while ago until recently, and from what I’ve heard, most people didn’t see the PRE-PRE-ALPHA when the tests started and judged it as though it was finished. It seems a lot of the main foundation of skate 3 skating physics came back. But between having to update the foundation and adding parkour skating got affected, but it seems recently they have gotten a lot closer to fixing the skating physics. From what I’ve seen and heard I have a cautious yet optimistic view for where the game is headed

I think a lot of people are taking this game too seriously. I’m all for it and I totally understand why, I skate irl and I have a pretty decent understanding of “core culture”. From what I’ve seen in the play test highlights the game looks fun, that’s all I really care about. If it’s not fun then there’s no real point.
The game is in a bit of a tough spot because it needs to please the realistic, casual, and sandboxish players. I’m all for what they’re doing with the actual gameplay. The monetisation stuff will probably be cringe though.
From how the game looks as well I somehow don’t see them getting cooler brands in the game (Limosine, Quasi, Sour Solution). Unless it’s a massive offer. Trailers of a skate game with skaters doing quad backflip hippie jumps, I wouldn’t think that’d really reach those brands.
If they had a create your own brand/clan sorta system that would be cool. But not as cool as those real brands

session is a full release, the character animations could be a little smoother and like the off board is very, clunky, but it’s still great skateboarding, super customizable board and physics wise
I don't know man. I don't mind it's going to be live service as long as it's implemented correctly. If it's like fortnite i don't really mind it.
I've played the skate series since i was 10 and never stopped enjoying it simply because of the gameplay.
In the other video you mentioned all the cool skins like a flaming helmet would probably be behind a paywall. Well i don't care about some videogamy flaming or glowing clothing items. I want items from actual skateboarding brands, not some flashy glowing stuff. I can go on forever about this shit haha. I'm not trying to defend EA, it just wanted to give a different point of view and i hope it's going to be good
I was part of the playtesters of Skate. and most of what the controls are really well implemented along with all the parkour stuff
Make it so u should be able to both do the tricks realistic and more arcade.
Make sure you be able to choose camera angle, but you prefer to skate in.
the environment changing that depends on the season.
Maybe a new season with a season pass every month or so like Fortnite thoes.
different events, updates, holidays, events, and cosmetics regarding that holiday.
new multiplayer event been adding every now and then.
A In-depth story mode besides the multiplayer part.
also that I think is really important is a game in-game social media like Instagram but something like skategram at all have to do with beeing a skate influences.

I promise you clothing items, creator items, (such as ramps and railings) and cool emotes will be locked behind a paywall. That's just the sad reality of greedy companies.
They specifically said that no map areas or gameplay advantages will be locked behind a paywall, so I highly doubt they would actually put a paywall on creator items. My guess is it will just be on cosmetics

I think the game should be $40 that way an offline mode is warranted.
Going off of helldivers 2, I think the cosmetics should either be reaaal cheap or bundled so that when you buy it you can pick and choose what to use out of the bundle and change the
color/look of it.
I know a lot of people want a story mode and I’m one of them. If there is one I just want it to be worth playing through. I think they should do like GTA and have seasonal stories that could either be abt your character or the world.
Like for example, if they added tagging into the game and let people join a “gang” and have a competition against others then the season story could be abt one gang taking over the city or something. Idk i just want it to be interesting.
I know they’re not gonna add the session controls in so I just hope that they make up for it by making the game feel heavy and realistic.

If my Xbox 360 didnt die on me 10 years ago, id still be ripping skate 3. The idea of people being mad or worried about the game being a live service are just being overly scared. Like if your main concern is cosmetics being monitized, then you need to get your priorities straight. The fact that EA is even allowing this game to be made is already a fuckin miracle and we should be thankful for that. As long as the game is fun and isnt a broken mess, then ill be happy to send 20 bucks on some decks and a few hoodies.

Free to play makes companies try their hardest to make money off micro transactions which leads to gameplay gameplay and areas getting locked off to free to plays

Also its from EA, so chances are its either going to be pumped full of in game purchases(Madden) or have hundreds of dollars of dlc(The Sims)

I hate unnecessary always online games
The (NDA covered, so take as you will) playtests have been pretty solid in terms of gameplay, but absolutely horrendous in everything else. The whole game is janky as hell, performance is absolute garbage even though there aren't many textures or other effects yet, and all in all it just does not bode well for the future of Skate.
If I were the CEO of EA, I would dial the woke culture all the way down and even completely abolish it, then I'll make skate. a Buy2Play game instead of F2P, and naturally this game will be playable both offline and online. You can go online to do dailies and receive points that they can use to buy in-game items with in-game points that they can ONLY get by PLAYING and not PAYING. No lootboxes. But there WILL be item shop but they're ONLY cosmetics. Every part of the skateboard is customizable and that's why playing it online will only benefit you since offline, you will still be able to purchase in-game items, but you'll have more options while online. Once you've bought the items online, you can then take them back offline. That's what I would do.

If I could change anything about how this game seems to be going it would be to make it 30-40 dollars and have unlockable outfits, boards, etc. and then have pro skaters like in skate 3 have missions and then unlock like their pro model board or shoes or something like that. A game that does this perfectly is Shredders which is an indie snowboarding game. They add new areas every month or so like you said would be cool in Skate. and they have missions that give you different jackets, pants, boots, and boards that are all used by pro snowboarders that are in the game. The pros are not playable characters but you follow them in the missions like in skate 3 and some missions have you try to beat their scores or copy their tricks which is super sick. Keep up the great work bro ❤
