+Puffalupagus360 yep, they did have the b16 version as well. My friend had one and that thing ripped!!! The b16 version had stiffer springs and shocks than the other versions..
i had my del sol for a year. it was a heap, not the best paint, shittly swapped motor. but I loved the hell out of it...going on a nice cruise on a nice day with the windows down and top off was the best feeling...better than driving my moms audi sline. You felt free driving it, it was a go card...hands down one of the most beautiful cars made by honda..i wish it would come back.
Would love to get my hands on one of these. Always loved them when I was younger. Just lived the lines on them. There was a purple one i used to see in my neck of the woods for years until alas one summer it never emerged from its southwestern ontario winter slumber. Made me so sad. Have yet to see another one on the road since.
When I lived in the US I owed a del Sol and it was awesome. I loved it so much and we did many road trips in it. My roof was also not leaky except in the Carwash. Back in Germany it needed an Elise to fill the hole it left in my heart. It really is like the summer love you think back to from time to time.
+Matthias Schmitt Originally sold as a Civic Del Sol in the US, Civic was dropped by 1995 and it was just a Del Sol. IIRC The CRX was actually a Civic CRX as well.
People do love the DelSol, the ones that say people don't because it isn't a CRX are the ones that blame the Delsol for the hatch back CRX's demise. The Delsol is a CRX and has been called that in many countries (the world does not revolve around the US and by rights the DelSol did bear the name CRX and CR-X.
You forgot the fact that it also came with a b16a2 for 96 97 and a b16a3 for obd1 94-96. Wasn't offered in all years, but makes a heck of a difference. I am 17 and have had 2. One with the d16z6 and currently one with a b16a3. The thing redlines just below 8k with the dohc and is a beast for this car stock. Nice video though. All points true haha
Love this video. Have a red 1993 si manual with spoiler unmodified with 85k miles. Last summer put in car show and 1 comment was couldn’t believe it had 85k and looked like it came off the show room. I get all the unfavorable comments especially roof leaks. But on a sunny day and I take it for a ride on a country road, the smile on my face is priceless. To all, Live life well.
+Billy Benedict I am telling you, I live in south louisiana. it rains all the time here never got wet in it and never found it even damp inside after a hard rain.
+BikerTrashWolf My ex had one and the targa didn't leak on that one either. It was a nice little car, only problem with it is it's invisible, low and small.
This appeals to the 17 year old Mexican kid in me. Not really, but you get what I mean. Now to just put on some rattle-can teal Walmart wheel covers and hang out at VatoZone all day.
I bought mine five day’s ago and although it isn’t a race car but maaaaan in handles well! I’ve searched for a 90s Japanese car, lightweight and automatic (because reasons) to build and drive it…. And I’ve fallen in love with this tiny box although I literally have to amputate my (prosthetic) leg every time I climb in but after the ride I really don’t want to get out anymore.
Have a 96 DEl sol SI with 214 k miles on it. Wife's forever car. Will still get 0-60 in well under 7 seconds. Offered wife a new sporty car of her choice. Daggers flew "not getting rid of my baby." OK new paint job seats and carpeting looks like new . Yep 20 years old will still bring a smile to you face on a back hill country Texas road. Give you 30 Mpg uses no oil and sounds great revving to 8K before shifting. Oh it doesn't have all the newfangled gadgets but who gives a damn with top down and listening to it sing as you slam it into a turn at insane speeds to have it dig in and pull at 6-7 k rpm. snap shift and right back inthe sweet spot at 5k. YEP SOME NEW ONES ARE FASTER' have bunches more tech toys Ok will give you that. But I don't think many would be that much more fun.
um excuse me, but ive owned two Honda Civic Del Sols and they never had leaking targa tops at all. my first del sol was a 1993 S model and unfortunately it got into a bad accident, but i had it for 5 years. no leaking at all and the rubber was very worn. my current del sol is a 1995 SI, yet again no leaks. I do admit that my S model did have the SRS failure and even though the targa top never leaked, the trunk did..but im happy to say so far my 95 Si is staying strong and i am slowly but surely going to restore it back to its pristine condition. in the end your video was interesting and funny though.
I know this comment is 3 years old and you Kay not be on here anymore but if.yiu are can you elaborate in what the "SRS failure" is? Is it a common issue? My 95 S has an SRS light but I've just ignored it because it's not a huge deal to me and the car is great otherwise.
❤️this video......I still have my white 1995 manual Honda del sol ....I bought it brand new .....it has 247,000 miles ....I live next door to my mechanic so I’ve taken good care of it so it’s lasted forever .....I am getting a custom made transmission for it this week so it runs better up and down hills ....I will probably always keep it . Honda doesn’t make any cute cars now ...not even CRZ ...
+Rocco Rozzi Really good second car. Get a Civic/Accord instead. Buy as close to stock as possible. Air filters and mufflers are whatever, but don't buy someone else's failed project for $1,500 that has $5,000 of mismatched engine componets.
Haha my mom has a Green 95 Del Sole and it's been a great little car, she bought it brand new and it now has 266k on it and still runs great, never had to make any major repairs just normal stuff like tires, breaks, exhaust, belts and hoses. Honda definitely built a solid little car!
Holy hell! I made a comment like 4 days ago about doing a review on a Del Sol, and this this is posted! I currently have a '95 Del Sol that I bought from a friend as a project car. All of the plastic and vinyl has been torn out, cleaned and painted with SEM plastic paint/dye. New carpet and seats are waiting to be put in.
Ah, the memories. I babysat my brother's Del Sol Si for like a year back in the 90s. Car was really a hoot to drive. Not fast. Not the best handling. Just really, really fun for some reason that's tough to explain. Maybe it was the quick revving engine and the shifter that helped. And yeah, it really felt like a convertible from the driver's seat. Loved the auto rear window. Good times.
The seats are amazing. I bought a pair for my Civic, because they were supposedly designed by Recaro, and they were the lightest and lowest seats that Honda was making at the time.
Lol the song at the end hits home. Haven't driven mine in 7 or 8 years. Everyone's always asking to buy it because it sits at the bottom of my driveway. It's ruff. Revive coming one day
my dad had a brand new (in 93) Del Sol in captiva blue pearl without a spoiler and with black leather. i was in love with this car since then. I was able to get one 10 years later in 02, same blue, minus the leather but with a spoiler. i talked about it all 11th grade and drove up to the 1st day of my senior year with it. i miss that car so much. i check all the auto sites weekly for new ones and as we approach the 25 year rule making the JDM ones legal for import, i'm torn between buying another Sol or a r33 when they can be imported next year.....
Back in 2004 or 2005 when I was in high school I met my "car guy" friends. They used to make fun of another kid who drove one of these. They called it a "Del Slow"
It certainly isn't a race car, but I'll take slower performance with the awesome removable top over a fast, standard car any day. I love driving around topless. I don't even care when it's like 35 degrees F out, I still take the top off lol
It's actually the window frame that causes the leaks, just carefully bend the inner arm towards the roof ever so slightly and youll never leak from the targa
the Honda Del Sol VTi tops out at 8,200rpm in the uk. 160bhp. JDM honda Del sol SiR has 170bhp... tops out high too with 130mph. my roof never leaks.. but the transtop does not work
It's interesting to me how rare these are in the states, in stock form. Here in NZ, where grey market imports are abound, we have the JDM versions all over the place. Usually not modded, because they're not popular with car people as far as I can tell. I remember thinking these were the coolest looking car when I was a little kid, we had a neighbour who drove one, in white, looked a great deal like this, but it was the b16a vtec version. I'd like to own one as a cheap, fun runabout, but there's so many other cars that fit the same bill, only do it better over all. being a two seater is cool though. Having only one spare seat is great for if you don't like having to give friends lifts very often :P I've never sat in one, but at 6'2" I don't think I'd fit in it very well to be completely honest. Its a pity, because they're a cool little car for sure. Great review by the way man!
One of my dream cars from the 90s when I was a kid. It's kinda surreal to see that it actually turned out to be a decent car. Used ones in good condition go for upwards of 15k, that's insane.
Somebody messages him on skype, goes "I have a 1988 Dodge Omni GLH. Wanna come review it?" If he says okay, they meet at a certain date at a certain place, and recording footage ensues.
+Marcello Penk-Masucci Yeah but he has to reject a lot of offers. Even though he did review a Saturn, and not even the kind with the cool third door all 4 seat coupes should have as a option.
+dragkid185 The GLH was an epic sleeper, would spank any stock GTI back in 1988, kind of like the SRT-4 vs GTI of it's time, but still I'd rather own the GTI long term.
The Del sol is an absolutely beautiful ( Not in white!) and wonderful car to drive. You have to actually own one to appreciate it. for 20 years I have gotten compliments on my Del Sol. Almost every week someone asks me if I'm willing to sell.
come down to corpus Christi and ill show you all three of my Del sols that dont leak.. =) its called silicon spray..people dont understand that things need to be maintained in order to last. also you forgot to state that the Del sol also comes equipped with the B16a3
early S and SI comes with the d15b and the d16z6. the later models come with d16y7 and d16y8. thee early VTEC model comes with a b16a3 and the later VTEC model come with a b16a2. Ive had many del sols over the years
I had both in black with the jdm b16. The crx was my first car. And the del sol was a step up from that because of the removable top and the interior feel. Next up the s2000
So I'm a del Sol & CRX enthusiast and there are some aspects of this review that are wrong. The del Sol was not built to a "Higher standard" than the CRX. The build quality is the same. "By 1995 Honda also dropped the original Civic name from the car as well. Because this really wasn't a Civic anymore by then, if it ever was at all" - absolutely wrong ! Every del Sol shares the exact same chassis with an EG Civic 2 door hatchback. It's literally a Honda Civic with a different exterior shell.
The interior is rock solid except for that fucking climate control panel. It feels like a solid bucket with controls and creature comforts sprouting from the walls. Ughgh I love the interior more than I probably should. Even the audio controls are super cool..
I know exactly what you mean. It's like a well designed fighter pilot cockpit. Everything is right where you need it to be.The hideaway stereo is perfect for keeping all that distracting light away from the driver so it doesn't ruin the experience of driving these fun little toys. That climate control is hell, lol. It's even bad in the regular Civics. My current daily driver Civic has a busted temperature control and I just left it alone. It's better to just not mess with it and move the temperature control from a different position, lol.
Oh toads ! I thought you were talking about a del Sol. I've had that cluster your talking about in a slammed 91 sedan. I thought it was a nice smooth cluster too.

Had a friend in High School who had one of these, before he got a Porsche 944. A little bit of an upgrade.
About 3 years after seeing this video, I now own a red 1.6L VTEC Del Sol. I really love it, leaky roof and all!
They also had the B16A3 motor factory here in the U.S. which you forgot to mention.
+Javier Molina No, he said you could also get the S and SI trim levels which had the B16A2 or A3 depending on year.
+SydneyCBR6 but he said they came with the d16 vtec usdm spec
SydneyCBR6 B16A2 only came in the 1999-2000 Honda Civic Si, the B16A3 came in the Del Sol V-TEC he mentioned nothing about the B16A3.
+Puffalupagus360 yep, they did have the b16 version as well. My friend had one and that thing ripped!!! The b16 version had stiffer springs and shocks than the other versions..
i just knew because i have serviced a fuck ton of cars in my life so far and i knew it was in the si's from seeing it and the emissions placard
i had my del sol for a year. it was a heap, not the best paint, shittly swapped motor. but I loved the hell out of it...going on a nice cruise on a nice day with the windows down and top off was the best feeling...better than driving my moms audi sline. You felt free driving it, it was a go card...hands down one of the most beautiful cars made by honda..i wish it would come back.
surprisingly this is your most tame episode yet... the content is almost exclusively about the car! Nice way to freshen things Mr. Regular :)
Kinda easy to keep a car looking/driving/smelling/FUCKING as good as this.... when its a Florida car.
Try that in Minnesota ... A clean del sol or civic or crx can still easily go for 5 gs or more ... It's as bad as drift tax ...
I'm in the northeast, and my Del Slo does NOT like winter.
Ahhhhh the metaphors are magnificent with this one. Thumbs up! Great example of this car, thanks for keeping it stock. I like it.
the front looks like a soarer
It kinda does with those two inner lights.
Yeah Thats basically what it is
Squint really hard
It looks like a soarer after two trucks merge together with it in between.
I used to not like the Del sol or the celica that had similar quad lights, but now that it's aged, I think it looks quite nice :)
I owned one of these back in the 90's, great car really. Also owned a CRX, preferred the Del Sol for novelty factor
It really is like the summer love you think back to from time to time.
it's not a crx? it was sold as crx del sol in germany...
+Matthias Schmitt ...and it had that wicked electric system for the T-top...why this one doesn't have it?
+Matthias Schmitt And the UK, see 3:40 though
+Gundun de Zena That wasn't available in the US.
+Matthias Schmitt Originally sold as a Civic Del Sol in the US, Civic was dropped by 1995 and it was just a Del Sol. IIRC The CRX was actually a Civic CRX as well.
in the uk they are civic CRX
no Monday is complete without watching new +RegularCars review !!!!!!
Dude u are awesome I wish other reviewers put in as much as u do ...
I miss my del sol, and Targa didn't leak.
Liar
+Billy Benedict I am telling you, I live in south louisiana. it rains all the time here never got wet in it and never found it even damp inside after a hard rain.
You don't need to lie, it's okay.
+BikerTrashWolf don't worry, we're all friends here. we won't judge you for your leaky Honda.
+BikerTrashWolf My ex had one and the targa didn't leak on that one either. It was a nice little car, only problem with it is it's invisible, low and small.
The Del Sol was one of the first models I saw on the road as a kid that gave me an interest in cars. A shiny green dream.
“Hard and rough like you forgot the safe word” yoooo😭😭
People can go on ahead and take their CR-Xs. I'll have my Del Sol for six grand.
(sold mine for $3000)
Bout mine at a junkyard for 700. Still runs
Got mine for 500
six grand? you way over paid, bro.
potatochobit if it’s a clean VTEC trim with the b16, it’s worth every penny of that
This appeals to the 17 year old Mexican kid in me. Not really, but you get what I mean. Now to just put on some rattle-can teal Walmart wheel covers and hang out at VatoZone all day.
I work at VatoZone! Come join me my friend! Lol
Lololol vatozone, im Mexican and didn't know people call it that
artur guevara same lol
I'm Hispanic, the first person I heard call the place Vatozone was white lol. But I prefer the luck o' the Irish and go to O'Reilly.
This is the most accurate shit I’ve ever read
I bought mine five day’s ago and although it isn’t a race car but maaaaan in handles well!
I’ve searched for a 90s Japanese car, lightweight and automatic (because reasons) to build and drive it…. And I’ve fallen in love with this tiny box although I literally have to amputate my (prosthetic) leg every time I climb in but after the ride I really don’t want to get out anymore.
Review the paseo maybe?
yes yes yes my first car when I was 17. fucking amazing car. manual ofcourse
Or a Tercel?
But it would probably be too boring
***** hw abt starlet ?
No Starlets in the U.S.
Starlets were awesome. Especially those 4efte turbo ones.
Early 90's Hondas are such fantastic cars. Every model was great.
bb4 prelude? You should review that one. No one has anything good to say about it.
as a fellow un-bastardized del sol owner. I love this video. mine's a 97 SI with one big difference. mine has 250k miles.
The rewatch-ability of RCR is unreal. Thanks, guys.
I always hated the Del Sol, but now it's grown on me
I'm so in love with this car. Good review!
um excuse me, but ive owned two Honda Civic Del Sols and they never had leaking targa tops at all. my first del sol was a 1993 S model and unfortunately it got into a bad accident, but i had it for 5 years. no leaking at all and the rubber was very worn. my current del sol is a 1995 SI, yet again no leaks.
Initial D license plate on CRX
I had a del sol. The seals don't leak if you spray them with silicone.
I'm about to get a del sol for my first car looks great
+Jeffrey tinsley Is it good? Im thinking about getting one for my first as well
+Rocco Rozzi Really good second car. Get a Civic/Accord instead. Buy as close to stock as possible. Air filters and mufflers are whatever, but don't buy someone else's failed project for $1,500 that has $5,000 of mismatched engine componets.
+Stephen Bianchi Alright yeah thanks that's smart
i have mine since i was 17.i'm almost 24 now
Jeffrey Tinsley was my first car as well perfect starter car !
Haha my mom has a Green 95 Del Sole and it's been a great little car, she bought it brand new and it now has 266k on it and still runs great, never had to make any major repairs just normal stuff like tires, breaks, exhaust, belts and hoses. Honda definitely built a solid little car!
If you're ever in Tennessee, come review my 93 Prelude Si! I know you've been wanting to do one... ;)
ephesix waiting for a 4th gen i bet he loves the dash and if it has aws!
Honda del Sol is one of my first favorite cars I put an H22 blue top engine in it
Ah, the memories. Good times.
My mom has a bone stock base model 1995 del sol and the top doesn't leak, the seals are all almost perfect.
Liar they all leak
There are too many great lines in this review to count. Superb job, man!
my del sol has 230k on it and it's still great. except the airbag computer which also died....
firydeth2 rip
I'm sure airbags won't do much to save you in such a tiny tin can anyway
So your saying my SRS light shouldn't be on?
The seats are amazing. I bought a pair for my Civic, because they were supposedly designed by Recaro, and they were the lightest and lowest seats that Honda was making at the time.
I really hope there's an NB Miata in the works.
Lol the song at the end hits home. Haven't driven mine in 7 or 8 years. Everyone's always asking to buy it because it sits at the bottom of my driveway. It's ruff. Revive coming one day
Toyota Altezza / Lexus IS300?
Pls b0ss?
+David Teo
Ah, Alan Partridge's car.
+David Teo
And make it the SportCross/Altezza Gita version. The unintentional exotic wagon, that drives even better than the sedan!
Gibe me the pusi bOss
Yes b0ss

i habe cancer
my dad had a brand new (in 93) Del Sol in captiva blue pearl without a spoiler and with black leather. i was in love with this car since then.
I own one here in Brisbane,Australia and they are called and sold as honda crx delsol
I came back here for the intro Drake won a Grammy since this dropped!!!
This has been living rent free in my head since 2019
Back in 2004 or 2005 when I was in high school I met my "car guy" friends. They used to make fun of another kid who drove one of these. They called it a "Del Slow"
Flowmoshun just jealous
We call it the Dale swole
It certainly isn't a race car, but I'll take slower performance with the awesome removable top over a fast, standard car any day. I love driving around topless. I don't even care when it's like 35 degrees F out, I still take the top off lol
It's actually the window frame that causes the leaks, just carefully bend the inner arm towards the roof ever so slightly and youll never leak from the targa
the Honda Del Sol VTi tops out at 8,200rpm in the uk. 160bhp.
JDM honda Del sol SiR has 170bhp... tops out high too with 130mph.
my roof never leaks.. but the transtop does not work
I'm so glad new vids come out on Mondays... I always need the pick me up.
boxer briefs are the way to go if u ask me. you will get use to it.
This video is of the upmost quality. Reminds me of the Demolition-D of the anime reviews. Subbed
1:53 - After Mr. Regular finishes missionary with his protestant wife.
Had my daily driver del sol for 6 years. Loved it!
Having only one spare seat is great for if you don't like having to give friends lifts very often :P
I've never sat in one, but at 6'2" I don't think I'd fit in it very well to be completely honest. Its a pity, because they're a cool little car for sure.
Great review by the way man!
+Chris Tate If you live near Christchurch I could give you a ride in mine.
Believe it or not somebody pushing 7ft could ride comfortable in one of these seats go waaaay the fuck back
One of my dream cars from the 90s when I was a kid. It's kinda surreal to see that it actually turned out to be a decent car. Used ones in good condition go for upwards of 15k, that's insane.
How do you decide which car to review? What do you think before approaching one for reviewing?
Somebody messages him on skype, goes "I have a 1988 Dodge Omni GLH. Wanna come review it?" If he says okay, they meet at a certain date at a certain place, and recording footage ensues.
+Marcello Penk-Masucci The Dodge Omni, We're totally not copying the VW Golf, Dodge.
+Marcello Penk-Masucci Yeah but he has to reject a lot of offers. Even though he did review a Saturn, and not even the kind with the cool third door all 4 seat coupes should have as a option.
+dragkid185 The GLH was an epic sleeper, would spank any stock GTI back in 1988, kind of like the SRT-4 vs GTI of it's time, but still I'd rather own the GTI long term.
olskoolnewpaint Yeah they are cool cars I just don't like how unoriginal they were with the design.
I drove one back in 2012 , it was my friend's car green manualtransmition & and i loved it !
Needs a B16a. "This is not the Del Sol you are looking for"
i love my 97 del sol with the b16a2 303k miles and runs like a clock
I owned a 1995 del sol for 6 years in college. I have reoccurring dreams about that car because I had so much fun driving it them years.
My targa top on my del sol doesnt leak at all haha stock seals too
ImportLamby liar 😂
Why I watch Regular Car Reviews...
The beautiful similes and metaphors.
i prefer the del sol to the crx.
crx is hella ugly.
RobAlpacaflip Prius vibes
The Del sol is an absolutely beautiful ( Not in white!) and wonderful car to drive. You have to actually own one to appreciate it. for 20 years I have gotten compliments on my Del Sol. Almost every week someone asks me if I'm willing to sell.
+steven Ryan That's what i was thinking the whole video, that guy must get asked a lot if he wants to sell it, I wouldn't
+dawicked2k8: I would LOVE to have those
seats! They are worth a fortune. Original seats are extremely rare, if not impossible to obtain!
My top doesn't leak god dammit
Liar
Your lying through your dirt mauled dentures
I bet mine leaks more than all y'all's
It’s okay I have that problem too
God I love your reviews, they are awesome
Can you please review a 350z??????
I just bought a stock 97 Del Sol, and it's awesome.
come down to corpus Christi and ill show you all three of my Del sols that dont leak.. =) its called silicon spray..people dont understand that things need to be maintained in order to last. also you forgot to state that the Del sol also comes equipped with the B16a3
only the 160hp versions come with B motors.the smaller 125hp have the D motor in it.
early S and SI comes with the d15b and the d16z6. the later models come with d16y7 and d16y8.
thee early VTEC model comes with a b16a3 and the later VTEC model come with a b16a2.
My stereo isn't hideaway for my CRX. But the gauge cluster is backlit with a red/orange light which gets me hard every time I drive at night
Oh toads ! I thought you were talking about a del Sol. I've had that cluster your talking about in a slammed 91 sedan. I thought it was a nice smooth cluster too.
i like the small things. problem is that my CRX is French-Canadian so everything is in french and kilometers... the color is pretty though!
My 94 Delsol was my first car. I bought myself. Still have it til this day. ❤❤
