Which has such a vastly different meaning than what the EN went for. I kinda doubt it. We see Aventurine being affected by Ratios talk about his past and the mark on his neck, why would Sparkle be bothered by that, she mocked Aventurine for his heritage. Plus we get a brief scene here of Aventurine AFTER Ratio left and he still looks sad by the conversation and the fact Ratio just up and left. Why would Sparkle be sad about Ratio leaving? 😅

@@caquis2037 Oh no, your idea is absolutely valid and I might eat my own words in the next update. 😂 In this scenario it would just not make too much sense to me for that to be Sparkle based on Aventurines reactions, when Dr. Ratio brought up his heritage. Plus they talk to each other here in a very familiar manner, I doubt Sparkle would know Ratio that well.
This whole conversation is so off but I thought that Sparkle disguises as Ratio? Like she was humiliating Aventurine later in the quest exactly the same way. Also Ratio and Aventurine talked before in this quest (and Sparkle at that moment was with Swan) and their conversation was so different from that scene. Ratio called him 'dear gambler' and here he's being called 'damned gambler'. And Aventurine pointed out that it's unusual for Ratio to not vear his plaster head (especially when he's thinking about smth cause he gets overstimulated it seems) Plus it feels so strange to see Ratio so angry and irritated while most of the time he's just 'above it' yk? Also not this man saying that he's going back home to talk to the corporation and using phraces like 'fun fact'. He's not from ipc is he? I could have just missed that plot twist though. I have a feeling that real Ratio met Sparkle and misleaded her before this interaction

Ratio is not a genius, he works for the Intelligentsia guild. Kinda makes sense that they might collaborate, they are from two large organizations that prob have a lot of contact with each other. Maybe they have some deeper personal reason though, idk. Seems like pure business to me though, Ratio does not seem interested in Penacony at all.
Edit: Ok, I did not realize this but after checking the wiki apparently the Intelligentsia guild gets the majority of its academic funding from IPC subsidies/sponsorship. Their collaboration makes complete sense at that point, we should think of the Guild as under the IPC's massive umbrella of influence. It's possible the Guild is even under their control completely. Knowing all that, now I think it is very likely that Ratio and Aventurine were both sent there by the IPC as a team to begin with. Their collab was probably not spur of the moment at all.

I guess it could be considered an art term, but I think it’s very common knowledge regardless.

At least based on my own experience. That doesn't mean you are dumb for not knowing it. It's not a term you would hear in normal conversation unless you were talking about that specific type of sculpture. If I had to guess people most commonly would learn that word from other random forms of media (busts are a common sculpture form), or from history class learning about Greece/Rome world history. I think I learned it from both of those things. Now people are learning it from HSR with a Roman themed philosopher! 🗿

Firstly he never really met Sunday up til the arrival and he manage to not only prepare 3 3! Cornerstones from Jade, Topaz and himself into penacony and had to break his pior to disguise it, and in the end he did what he had to do and even perfectly play out til uk spoilers

@@kkorii5924 he's a slave, the question itself is ridiculously stupid when Dr.ratio is the intelligence guy of the IPC and I'm sure they've met several times even before this quest with how topaz contacted and hinted that shes somewhat close to most of them.
The author wrote this as a sympathy card for us to like aventurine knowing that the guy about to do the most scummy sht later on and hoping that it won't affects his sales.
It's a very cheesy and generic way to appeal a character to their audience.
Kinda how the writer did it with ruan mei who's an anti-social that for some reason treated us so nicely and told all of her private info about her life. Or even with argenti, seele bronya, and so many others.
I could tell he never had a real relationship in his life with how hes writing these characters to like or feel bad for one another.

@@Qopa I'm choosing to take it as part of Aventurine's personality, it's currently unclear whether the feeling of this scene was intentional or is a sign of bad writing but Aventurine using the opportunity to paint himself as the victim suits the image of Aventurine I've built in my mind so far. Ratio clarifying that his intention wasn't to hurt Aventurine doesn't stray away from my interpretation of Ratio either, they don't seem to hate each other, rather they are conflicted about the differense in the philosophies they live by, adding to the lack of confidence in one another despite having to cooperate on a very important project which, as implied, could cost Aventurine his life, be it he fails, and as a consequence they have difficulties communicating honestly, instead arguing to indirectly push their own way of thinking onto the other like the correct one as they struggle to come to an agreement because it would mean to rely on and have trust in each other, and that is too much vulnerability for both of them (both are used to hiding their true selves for various reasons).
Anyway, to me Aventurine's tone of voice didn't sound genuinely saddened and Ratio's didn't sound too apologetic: Ratio made a rude comment that went slightly overboard, Aventurine immediately used this to turn the tables and force Ratio to either double down or back off, whereas Ratio chose the latter since there was no reason to escalate the situation.
Maybe the truth is yours though and I'm being too optimistic, as I believe that would be too cheap of an attempt at excusing a morally ambiguous character, Aventurine's flaws could be explained by his past, but I hope there won't be any poor excuses that will overshadow his complex personality.
