*All traits which could be considered attractive on their own except for the virgin/never had a bf part. That's just inherently misogynistic. No excuse for that.
I first watched this movie when I was 10 years old, I watched it once more four times in a row and cried the second and third. The first time I had cried in a movie. I now have to be careful when I watch it again because I will be compelled to watch it again and again until my eyes can not cry anymore
Glad you said this. That proposal get me everytime. And the way Landon made it sound like it will be the best thing Jaime can do for him was sooooo... ❤❤❤❤❤
Stop commenting "Chandler and Monica!" first of all, we get it... you just binge watched Friends on Netflix. Second of all, read the title. top 10 MOVIE proposals. Friends is a TV SHOW!
Amy Adams and Matthew Goode in Leap Year (2009)! I love how Declan (Goode) rejects Anna's (Adams) proposal to "not make plans" in favor of a lifetime of making plans. The accent doesn't hurt one bit either.
When I first saw the ending of Pride and Prejudice I rewound it over and over and over again to rewatch the scene and my mom and my sister and I all cried...so beautiful
I LOVE when Sandra proposes to Ryan Reynolds in the street 😂 I just watched the proposal the other day with my brother who’d never seen it and laughed so much! One of the best movies
What I don't get is proposals in public - that is, proposals where more than the two concerned are present. What is the guy trying to do? Trying to force her to say yes because of the presence of others? Is that really the right way to begin a lifelong relationship?
I totally agree with you. My husband proposed to me at a picnic next to a river during peak foliage season (we live in New England), a week after my 18th birthday. It was just him and me (and the critters who lived in the woods). He had a song by my favorite band playing on the car stereo when he popped the question and, when I said yes, he walked over to the river, pulled on a wire, and attached to the wire was a bottle of champagne. We're celebrating our 33rd anniversary in September.
Exactly my thoughts, thank you! The only worse is not just ask in front of others but to involve others. A question like this just doesn't belong in public!
My husband proposed to me at my house where he surprised me with a visit (we lived several hours apart at the time) but while I thought no one was there but us, in reality everyone was waiting in the other room. To me it was the perfect proposal because it was just us in that moment and yet by everyone hiding away in the other room it was still able to be shared with those closest to us. Later when I asked him if he was nervous to ask with others nearby he said no because he was confident he already knew the answer. I think that is the case in a lot of similar situations, the couple has reached a place where they know each other so deeply they both already know what the answer will be.
Seriously NOTHING else could have been number one than this pride and prejudice scene!!! No matter how romantic the other proposals were, nothing can ever be as romantic and beautiful as this!
I was not expecting Pride and Prejudice as the first place! This is my all time favourite movie and this scene is so true and simple. Beautiful proposal
Okay. Some of my favorites are : 'Braveheart', 'Notting Hill', 'Pretty Woman', 'Moulin Rouge', 'A Walk in the Clouds', 'Sleepless in Seattle', 'When Harry Met Sally'.
When you finally figure out who the person is that you want to spend the rest of your life with, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.
Yes yes yes... #1 truly is the greatest.. such a beautiful scene! But i think the proposal from Ever After shouldve been on this list! that quote is just unbeatable.. "I kneel before you not as a prince, but as a man in love.. but I'd feel like a king if you, Danielle Babarbarack, would be my wife".. so great
I'm assuming that you went with the 2005 P&P because otherwise Colin Firth would take up a full third of this list, which lets us know just one thing. Everyone should give in and marry him.
+k1mch11 I'm not sure if it was because I was still a teenager when that episode aired (Nathan proposing to Haley), but no other proposal has ever registered as more romantic to me. God, I loved Nathan and Haley.
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE! I was so scared it may not be in the list. But seriously that scene was the most beautiful scene from the movie! Everything about it was just beautiful!
My personal favorite would have to be from Big Fish, I can't think of anything more cinematic than that scene of him standing in a field of daffodils (her favorite flower) being so honest and desperate. It didn't end perfectly but the atmosphere was.
When I was 17 or 18 years old, our whole class went to the cinema to watch Walk The Line (yeah, I went to a music focused high school). I started crying the shit out of it after #9. Everyone made fun of me because I was so deeply moved... it makes me kinda happy to see this moment on this list, tbh.
I agree, Chandler and Monica should be #2, but I am grateful Pride and Prejudice is #1. I have watched it thousands of times and it still gives me the same rush of feeling I felt the first time I read and saw this scene
With the other proposals I was like "alright, that's cool, that's sweet" but when it came to Pride and Prejudice I had to stop the video and take a deep breath BECAUSE THAT'S MY FAVORITE BOOK AND MY FAVORITE MOVIE AND I KNOW EVERY SINGLE WORD OF THAT PROPOSAL AND I FUCKING LOVE IT
I must say the Jennifer Aniston one from "she's just not into you" gets me every time, although the scene where he comes to help with the housework when she's looking after her sick father is the true engagement scene I reckon :)
"Stepmom and "A walk to remember" and one that wasn't including here " The time travelers wife" ughhhhh the feels. I find it is best to proposed without an audience cheering on for a yes.
my favorite from here was Landon and Jamie's.. their relationship was so real even though it wasn't the easiest and A Walk to Remember is one of my favorite movies of all time I'll say!
Nah, to me, most of the movies are shitty. I haven't read the books, but I bet they are 1000x better than the movies. A Walk to Remember and Safe Haven are the only ones I liked from the ones I've seen (and I'll include The Last Song but bc of the Miam feels I have rn).
the proposals from Jane Eyre (2011) and The Time Traveler's Wife are a couple of my favorites. I totally forgot about the one from Stepmom. That's definitely on my list now.
Number 1 IS the best!!! I think Mr. Darcy's first and declined proposal should be on the list too, that scene is amazing! Also Mr. Bingley's proposal is really cute (yes, a thousand times yes), and the scenes from BBC mini series are very good too. Half of this list could just be from Pride and Prejudice tbh.
The Little Woman proposal for the first three films were always cute, especially the last one. Bhaer: I have nothing to give you, my hands are empty. *Holds hand* Jo: Not empty now.
My favorite is "When Harry meets Sally" with Meg Ryan\ Billy Cristal. "I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out I love that it takes you one hour and a half to order a sandwich I love that you get little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts I love that after I spend a day with you I can still smell your perfume on my clothes and I love that you're the last person I wanna talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realise you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible!" I't's not a proper proposal scene, but THAT declaration of love is IMMORTAL.
I CAN BREATHE PRIDE AND PREJUDICE KILLS MY SOUL EVERYTIME

Even if you’re not a Jane Austen fan, you gotta admit, her love stories are are the most beautiful, exciting and unforgettable. She’s the BEST!
The first time Darcy proposes in Pride and Prejudice. He doesn't get the answer he wants, but his and Lizzie's heated exchange was priceless.

A Walk to Remember was everything sweetest movie I've ever seen cuteness overload
My favorite one is Love Actually´s proposal:
Colin Firth learning portuguese with the Portuguese love theme is perfect.
"Bonita Aurelia"

Exactly so!
Pride and prejudice is a dream. The raining scene where Darcy confessed his love for the first time is just perfect.
Amy Adams and Matthew Goode in Leap Year (2009)! I love how Declan (Goode) rejects Anna's (Adams) proposal to "not make plans" in favor of a lifetime of making plans. The accent doesn't hurt one bit either.

Leap Year has the cutest and most beautiful proposal ever! It should have made the list!!

When you finally figure out who the person is that you want to spend the rest of your life with, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.
I think stardust is one of the greatest endings plus, Robin Hood with Jamie D in.
I cried during A Walk to Remember in the engagement scene. I still tear up thinking about it.
Yes yes yes... #1 truly is the greatest.. such a beautiful scene! But i think the proposal from Ever After shouldve been on this list! that quote is just unbeatable.. Yes!
Love that scene
I still like that interpretation of Cinderella the best. The cast was excellent, from Drew Barrymore to Angelica Huston. Superb!
I was literally like, these a kind of lame and cheesy, what kind of girl do they think I am andthenprideandprejudicepoppedup and I melted.
Pride and Prejudice will always be the winner in my mind, but I could listen to that question come out of Colin Firth's mouth all day.
that is m favorite Pride and Prejudice !!!
I'm assuming that you went with the 2005 P&P because otherwise Colin Firth would take up a full third of this list, which lets us know just one thing. Everyone should give in and marry him.

It has moments

Love Actually und Pride and Prejudice sind einfach die schönsten Filme aller Zeiten ❤️
Nooo While You Were Sleeping was the BEST proposal!

My favorites are The Proposal, A Walk to Remember, Moonstruck, Pride and Prejudice, Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean and Sweet Home Alabama ❤

+Mariah Rojas Same :)
+sugarcane0000 I remember the first time I saw it I cried and cried. Every time I stopped crying, something else would happen that made me cry again.
I think Ever After’s proposal scene should be up here because what other movie could make proposing with a shoe instead of a ring so lovely?
+Kitty Grimm I was hoping to see that one too. :)
well they did it in sex and the city too but yes that proposal made me cry i love drew!

Matthew Macfadyen line delivery is swoon worthy. The best Mr.Darcy.

I must say the Jennifer Aniston one from "she's just not into you" gets me every time, although the scene where he comes to help with the housework when she's looking after her sick father is the true engagement scene I reckon :)
My favorite scenes and the only reason to watch that movie: Affleck and Aniston and 'those pants' ...
#1 pride and prejudice SO DESERVING. that scene gives me chills everytime. he delivers the line perfectly. most perfect Mr. Darcy
Adam Sandler singing "I Wanna Grow Old With You" in The Wedding Singer.

What about Will and Elizabeth in Pirates of the Caribbean

I loved the proposal from Step Mom. It was perfect, no huge gestures, just truth.
My fav proposal is Mr. Rochester and Jane Eyre. Too bad they're not on the list.

And Zombies
Omg I was unbelievably happy to see moonstruck in this
I am not an Adam Sandlor fan but I love the way he proposes in the movie The Wedding Singer
I'm so glad that Moonstruck was so high on this list hahaha. That's such a great scene!
The Time Travellers Wife proposal scene should be on the list
My favorite for some reason has always been "While You Were Sleeping." It's just really sweet.
I was rooting for Pride and Prejudice! I gushed and cried! 😍😍
YES that's the correct number one!!
"Stepmom and "A walk to remember" and one that wasn't including here " The time travelers wife" ughhhhh the feels. I find it is best to proposed without an audience cheering on for a yes.
