This is introduction from Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds PC game. This is the introduction to the Martian game.
Probably the best quality version that you will find outside of Jeff Wayne and his associates.
I have extracted the video from the Bink FMV files bundled with the PC game, removed the interpolation that caused the weird horizontal lines and have created a new version with smoother and less jagged video.

I kinda like how this shows that the Martians didn't have everything figured out and that they had teething problem with the invasion, even if this is just for the PC game, I like to think that, at least partially, this was Jeff Wayne's headcanon for his Musical Version.
The problem is of course, the humans.
Pity they never tried peace. Having Martian neighbours would be kind of awesome.
Interesting to me is that Jeff Wayne reimagined this twice for his stage versions. The first time he had just redesigned everything, but kept both the music and the original voiceovers from this game, while in 2012 he had the Martians redubbed so sound more 'threatening' and again redesigned Mars' surface. Props to Lewis MacLeod for being able to pull it off twice.

Well, it wasn't my reason for posting, I wrote some software as a companion to the game and I have just released it for free on Deviantart. These videos were part and parcel of that companion but they always needed to be converted from the original to avoid copyright theft. I love the Martians Buerocratic talk they are really cute two, I always play as them in the video game

I love how much this explains about the martians. The reason why they only invaded Britain is because they literally didn't have the manpower to invade anywhere else. It makes their situation that much more dire.
It's very likely that they went extinct following the failure of the invasion.

Oh, yes, the bastards came and plucked specimens to perform scientific tests upon. However, having not learnt as much as they wanted from the koalas, they then focussed specifically upon Americans.

That was the Martian president who has been terminated in the most egregious manner. Martian plumbing is adept at recycling...

I loved this game 20 years ago, shame it won't play on anything later than XP or linux (which i really don't want to mess around installing just for one game) I'm trying to make a model of a fighting machine in maya at the moment (it'll be going into UE5), but there are a few details i'm hung up on, namely the 'lights' on the side of the body (i'm struggling how to model the recessed areas using booleans), and the 'brachets' on the legs that the support struts attach to, I can never figure out if they're fixed in place, or if they slide up and down the legs as the machine walks. Doesn't help that the "official" schematics, and several other versions, are not really consistent.
I have it running on Windows 7. You need the later binary.
@@yereverluvinuncleber I tried the one from an ISO i downloaded that has the _inmm.dll and patched exe (from 2012) bundled with it, but since i have no idea where that dll is supposed to go, i stuck it in system32/drivers, but apparently that didn't do anything. I'm STILL getting the "smackw32.dll not found" error as well as now the one about the other dll. I'm just stuck. To be honest, I'm just about ready to give up on this endevour and just try remaking the game in Unreal on my own, sure, that'd take years, I'd also likely never get licensing from Jeff so selling it or even releasing it at all would probably be a no-go, I can't ask on the official WoTW forums because they no longer exist, but at this point...
