Thanks for posting this, battery died on my 2014 Discovery (I ignored the "battery low" warnings for too long, procrastinating about ordering a new battery...🙄). I ordered from Tanya as well even before seeing your video, great website and about £100 less (that's about 40% cheaper...) than Halfords with 2 business day delivery while Halfords need a whole week... The process seems straightforward enough and thanks to you I know exactly what I am up against even before reaching for the socket wrench!😊
Make sure to check the vent hole on the opposite side of the battery, on the negative pole side. Usually batteries come with vent holes on both sides and a break away plug on the plastic plugs. It's best to check that the unused hole is plugged to make sure you don't get any nasty spills in the battery tray.
Good advice and thank you. Fortunately I did check and it was plugged so all good there. Thank you for pointing it out though and for others to read All the best 👍
Thanks for this, well explained video. However, I was surprised you did not put any copper grease on the terminals when fitting ??? In the past I was always taught to put Vaseline on the terminals to prevent corrosion, nowadays it's better to use copper grease. I always do this. Also - do you not have to tell the system that a new battery has been installed to ensure correct charging?
Hi. It’s been fine since it was changed and no issues with needing to recode it. Even driven it all the way to Naples and back without a problem. All the best 👍
My freelander 2, Si4, 2012 model...After Battery changed, Some problems: BAT lam illuminated all the time, doors automatic open problem and signal speaker doesnt run. What can I do ? Thanks
Hi, sounds like it’s thrown up a fault code which will need clearing. The other bits are likely resolvable through a resetting procedure similar to how I had to reset the windows. Not familiar with Freelanders though I’m afraid. Definitely get the codes read and cleared though. You should be able to do that yourself with a OSB2 reader. Good luck. All the best 👍
