Lisa Simone Kelly (born Lisa Celeste Stroud, September 12, 1962) is an American singer, composer and actress, known for her work on and off Broadway, in Rent, Lion King, Aida, and Les Miserables. She is the only child of the late musician and civil rights activist #NinaSimone (from her marriage to police detective, later her manager, Andrew Stroud) and is the executive producer of the Netflix documentary What Happened, Miss Simone? Simone's albums include Simone on Simone, All is Well, My World, and Live at the Edge.

I had the privilege to work with Lisa on the First National Tour of RENT. She is a star with a fantastic voice and a dedication that cannot be challenged. She is so talented! This convert was really great to see. The songs sit perfectly in her voice, and the team with her onstage are amazing!
She is iconic...Overcoming an abusive childhood...she served in the Gulf War serving her country for 10 years...And she is this amazing Artist!!!and the best of humanity.
Her whole childhood was not abusive…So I’m sure she does not want you to bring negativity here if you listen to the song she telling u she was young and didn’t understand…
@@chanelrenee9506 Not true! She was too young to understand the abuse of her father towards her mother. However, her mother moved abroad and abandoned her... She then moved abroad to live with Nina when she was older and Nina horrifically abused her until she attempted suicide because of her mother's abuse! She then had to move back to America to live with her father... She has tried to find peace with what happened and to understand that her mother was not well and her mother also resented her because she was a reminder of her abusive father.... she says "it's complicated" and that she'd "change it if she could".... be that she knows that Nina did love her in some way

Wow, never heard of her before! And now? I am knocked off my feet! Her band are absolute groove monsters and her voice is a melanche of Jazz, Soul and Blues. If this isn't absolutely great art, then what is?? In particular the acoustic guitar makes this whole line up a complete new experience for the listener. LOVE IT! Thanks a lot for sharing!! This concert is so amazing and I'm so glad I found it! The encore is craziness (in a good way!) and Unconditionally is fantastic. Love the audience interaction and what a lucky audience. The performance of My World is just breathtaking and I love how she uses mudras - do not know which ones but it makes the song that much more beautiful. And the band is on fire. Love Lisa Simone, I hope someday to see her live! Oh, and the fact that it's live at Montreux. Legendary.

Nina was a terribly abusive and very temperamental mother and person. Nina was not strong, she just repeated whatever abuse was handed down to her. Lisa is a much better person than her mother was.
