I still find it a little odd that everyone was cheering like they just won the lottery. Yeah, he just gave them something to fight for, but there's still the fact that pretty much everyone on that ship just lost basically their entire families when the colonies were obliterated, so I doubt they'd be _this_ happy.
(After the speech) Roslyn: "You know, President Adar and I talked at length about the legends surrounding Earth and if he knew nothing about a secret location, then what are the chances that the senior commanders of the fleet would know where it is?" Adama: "You're right, there is no Earth. It's all a legend." Roslyn: "Then why?" Adama: "Because you said it yourself.. It's not enough to just live. You have to have something to live for. So for now, let it be Earth."

Frankly, a secret like this would be precisely what the senior commanders of the fleet would keep from its civilian “overlords”, providing that the military survived from the Settlement of the Twelve Colonies through the Cylon War. Hence, they found the Way To Earth, because even Adama didn’t know that the myth was also true.

But the painful decision to lie to the people at least for a while, gave them the drive to survive. Adama was a true hero ,and honestly? This show should be mandatory viewing to ALL military officers to show that despite this being a fantasy, the desire to lead their people to a better tomorrow CAN and MUST be instilled to inspire hope. Because without hope ,without a purpose ,people simply resort to their base instincts and fight and kill to survive. We in the modern time (starting of 2022) should remember the struggles of our ancestors and forebearers. We should remember that they weren't perfect, they had their moments. But in the end, they prevailed and raised the bar for the future just a little bit more. Because of their struggles, we now have a society that does strive for peace, that does try to make it better for our future. And while yes there is still the dark times (pandemic) we still continue. We will survive as long as there are brave men and women who still carry the banner of humanity and think not about what is happening, but what could be. As long as those who still believe in hope, family, peace, and above all, justice and what is right. We will survive as a race. But not as long as this "woke" garbage prevails. That's leadership, he took a broken group of people at a funeral probably think the dead were the lucky ones and turned everyone around 180*. It may be built on a lie but that lie gave them hope and purpose.
I keep reading that this was the greatest speech of all time (I'm presuming for a fictional character). I, however, have to disagree, as there are a few characters that could give a speech as good as this: Capt. James T. Kirk; Capt. Jean-Luc Picard; and one Thomas J. Whitmore, the President of the United States during the Independence Day movies. However, that does not change the fact that as a leader, Adm. Adama is very effective at rallying his troops, and at reminding them why they fight -- as any brilliant leader should. Notwithstanding the fact he had to tell a lie to get the job done, this is still a fantastic speech -- one that will go down in television history.
@@ToddFSnyder Well almost every time James Earl Jones speaks its iconic. Have you ever seen the barracks inspection scene in “Gardens of Stone” ? James Earl Jones, James Caan and a young DB Sweeeney.
Might night even be the best speech in this series if you give attention to the cylons. Cavils I don't want to be human was great if memory serves. Lol
We have all witnessed the inexplicable at one time or another and been given pat answers that does nothing to unveil what we know in our bones to be true. Why we do not their true purpose we know for certain they exist for it is told life here began out there. So say we all, so say we all!
2020, here we are, face a pandemic together, in time like this i wish we all can here that voice once again “so say we all” , we are all in this together, that we will go through this and we will survive not just as a single nation but as humankind.
Much as I admire BSG, and this scene, COVID does not relate to BSG, Firefly does. Why? Because it is simple: If China created and released COVID from a biolab, as a bioweapon, then it is equivalent to what the Alliance did on Miranda. And as on Firefly, when the Signal was sent out, we are still not sure what to do about it...but I, for one, echo Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: "I aim to misbehave." Because while unity is all well and good, it is too easily manipulated for malevolent ends -- and unlike being in space, we are not bound to live in a regimented society. Because we are not, it follows that dissent, more often than not, leads to better decisions from leadership, as well as being much better at discovering the truth of the matter. And in the case of a pandemic, _which is not a war,_ truth, backed by science, is more important than anything. Without truth, we lose what makes us unique, and we become that which we have fought to change in the last 250 years: Slaves and prisoners. Only by questioning what ensues around us, do we remain free, and do we maintain our autonomy.
A great speech emphasizing forced unity. Getting people facing desperate circumstances on the same page is not easy. "So say we all" loudly repeated by the team dares anyone who prefers non-compliance to speak now or forever hold their peace.
I would love to see Admiral Picard and Captain Will Ryker beam aboard and offer a path to an evolved 13th Colony. Talk about the 13th Colony coming to save your ass. Number One lay in a course to Earth - maximum warp

It took a while for me to warm up to the reboot. They did a good job; they took the best elements of the old show and added a new twist to it. The Galactica was a member of the cast. They expanded on the original and did keep the spirit. When the ship battles happened, they were something important to watch. And when Adama broke the prop model ship (found in RL, that was a museum prop-opps). I wish they would of sprinkled the old theme song in more often. The first episode and the last is where I heard it and for closing, "So say we all!"
This makes every speech ever done by a politician no matter which party or ideology., sound like Amateur hour by comparison. This is how you get people's attention., when they are so tired and afraid they are have literally zoned out
I've wondered the same thing. Did they let the other tribes know before they left? Did they send someone back to the Colonies with the information? Its a Pythian Mystery.
For the longest time I thought "so say we all" was a call back to the original Battlestar Galactica somehow but apparently EJO adlibbed it, which is pretty cool.
I wanted to see more of the priest in this take of BSG. I also want to think they didnt find the real Earth. I hope the next reboot takes it in another direction.
Honestly, what I'm hoping is that the next one has the Galactica and Pegasus, plus a number of other Battlestar's and other ships, hunting down the last Cylon's, who are closer to the version from 1978, before they can find Earth, which everyone believes to be less advanced then the Colonies due to the 12 having more reason to advance quickly due to war or something. Then, I dunno, at the end they find the last Basestar nothing but a shattered hulk staring down the guns of an Earth Battlestar.

I would add Colonel Slade's speech in "Scent of a woman" and Kenneth Branagh's speech before the invasion of Iraq.
@@ZATennisFan Thomas J. Whitmore is up there. But no one can top James Earl Jones Field of Dreams Speech.
Lol
"these ridiculous Gelatinous orbs" and "prehensile paws". Jfc. It's a different kind of speech, but it's a good one.
Great writing, I miss good TV.
2:50 This phrase always sends me chills
We have all witnessed the inexplicable at one time or another and been given pat answers that does nothing to unveil what we know in our bones to be true. Why we do not their true purpose we know for certain they exist for it is told life here began out there. So say we all, so say we all!
SAUCY WE OIL!
~Gordon Adaramsay
Right up there with Theoden's speech on the Pelennor Fields.
This is how you do a remake. This is how you bring a beloved property into the 21st century.
It is possible.
2020, here we are, face a pandemic together, in time like this i wish we all can here that voice once again “so say we all” , we are all in this together, that we will go through this and we will survive not just as a single nation but as humankind.
So Say We All. We are one in this fight. So Say We All. One world one fight. one PEOPLE. this is mankind's fight. SO SAY WE ALL
ben broome So say we all
So say we all.
So say we all
Much as I admire BSG, and this scene, COVID does not relate to BSG, Firefly does. Why?
Because it is simple: If China created and released COVID from a biolab, as a bioweapon, then it is equivalent to what the Alliance did on Miranda. And as on Firefly, when the Signal was sent out, we are still not sure what to do about it...but I, for one, echo Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: "I aim to misbehave."
Because while unity is all well and good, it is too easily manipulated for malevolent ends -- and unlike being in space, we are not bound to live in a regimented society.
SO SAY WE ALL I used this when I was a area leader to fire up the people I was over.
Okay i'm sold, where can I bingewatch this?
The entire series is free on Peacock right now
Are you ready kids?
"So say we all..."
I can't hear yoooouuuuu
"So say we all!!"
The Refuge where the ferryman requires no tolls
So say we all !!!
A great speech emphasizing forced unity. Getting people facing desperate circumstances on the same page is not easy. "So say we all" loudly repeated by the team dares anyone who prefers non-compliance to speak now or forever hold their peace.
Best SciFi EVER
I would love to see Admiral Picard and Captain Will Ryker beam aboard and offer a path to an evolved 13th Colony. Talk about the 13th Colony coming to save your ass. Number One lay in a course to Earth - maximum warp
I would like Picard to try to negotiate with the Martians from Mars Attacks!
They aged 1.5 years in just 6 days lol. (From the end of the Miniseries to the beginning of "33")
you would too when being on the run for your life after watching all people you ever knew melt away in a nuclear fire ^^
They were really stressed
No sleep, jumping as far as possible every 33 minutes, with jump drives not meant for the workload to escape the Cylons came bearing down on them hellbent on their annihilation would age even the most disciplined person. Baltar explained it best, in his monologue about the toll of humanity's flight from their worlds. ruclips.net/video/s3E_PuRGCjc/видео.html
Adama can spin a lie like the best of them.
This scene embodies the entire show
This makes every speech ever done by a politician no matter which party or ideology., sound like Amateur hour by comparison. This is how you get people's attention., when they are so tired and afraid they are have literally zoned out
no dislikes in 2019..whaddaya hear?

I always wondered who told the Twelve Colonies that Earth was the planet the Thirteenth Colony settled?
I've wondered the same thing. Did they let the other tribes know before they left? Did they send someone back to the Colonies with the information? Its a Pythian Mystery.
0:49 Are you ready kids!
0:52 Aye Aye captain...
1:06 I can't hear yooooouuuu!
1:10 Aye Aye Captain!
1:24 Ooooooohhhh!!!
Amen brothers and sisters
I count 3 Cylons in this video clip. Frakking toasters...
My right ear really enjoyed this
"We have a refuge ...."
I read that Olmos' speech was adlibbed (not scripted). If that's the case it proves that EJO is a talented actor.
SO SAY WE ALL 2020!!!!!
There is no plan(et) B, so say we all !
Still get charged by this speech!
Our blood is the blood of heros and martyrs
This series was to short OMG the stuff they could have done...
"SO SAY WE ALL!"
So feels we all.
So Say We All
For the longest time I thought "so say we all" was a call back to the original Battlestar Galactica somehow but apparently EJO adlibbed it, which is pretty cool.
Puts all that came before it to shame.
You can tell Laura Roslin didn't buy it.
so say we all
Why is this not in stereo? Left channel has weird background .
yeap when the chips are down nothing compares to a great peap talk from your commanding officer to boast moral . so say we all
I wanted to see more of the priest in this take of BSG.
0:54 Adama's like "Wait a minute . . ."
No dislikes at the Time of posting, that’s right
EJO's incredible presence rose up and swatted the dislikes away.
SO SAY WE ALL
wait why are there so many Chefs on this ship???
Could the audio be any lower?
Endgame anyone?
He was lying of course. Little did he know that Earth would turn out to be real...and nuked lol
