Kill team is basically a completely different game from regular 40k. Combat Patrol is a version of regular 40k that uses fixed forces (the combat patrol boxes) and special data sheets for the included units. Otherwise it’s the same game.
combat patrol is a small verion of 40k and is a great way to start playing ( go watch my how to Warhammer video) kill team is a skirmish game where miniatures act individuelly, think a battle vs a guerilla warfare both are set in the same universe and feel very familier and you can do both
I bought this set and Hivestorm for myself this Christmas, I have about 12 kill teams already but never played a game, your video explained things to me very clearly and in an easy manner. I hope to start playing kill team now, thank you.
awesome, I'm glad I could help. I was confused as well as things arn;t explained so clearly so thats why I'm glad I made this video :Dvgood luck I hope you can start playing soon
Great job on this tutorial, very clear and easy to follow as is all of your content. I would love to see a follow up video showing how to go from starter box to playing on volkus, covering vantage , using tac ops etc as I see this asked allot on forums etc.
thank you. honestly I'm not very good with rules and Im not good at the game XD other people would do a lot better job of it than I could :) thank you though for the suggestion, i'll keep it mind if I get any good at playing
Great video. I’m in my 40s now and getting back into the hobby. I got the Aeldari combat patrol for Xmas and was going to buy their kill team, but I can get this starter set for an extra £20 so I’ll be going for this instead.
Thanks for the video, it came in very handy as I got the kill team starter set for Christmas and was kinda like right how do.i do this lol so this video has been a great help
Kill Team is a great skirmish game and allows you to grab multiple functioning teams from different factions to get a feel for the models and painting sryle before deciding if you want to commit to an army and try out 40k. If you are an Age of Sigmar player, you might try out Warcry which is the skirmish game variant and also very good.
I'm doing a series of beginner videos for age of sigmar in the new year which I'm excited about :D this kill team is a great way to get started with 40k though and probably the greatest product gaes workshop have produced
hi i use do warhammer 40k 7 years ago sold every thing and i want to get back into it use to paint dark angels might do dark angles again or do different faction
Bought hivestorm and finished building the terrain but haven’t had a chance to read rules or build the units yet. Now as soon as I get back home I will tackle that and get to playing
Hi I’m wondering if you can help me. I’ve just started out in 40k got some space marines and primed them in black. I applied my base coat and the finish came out nice. Thing is the blue is far too dark I’m assuming because of the black primers is there anything I can do to correct this or should I put a light white wash over them and repaint with blue again?
it doesn't make a whole lot of difference what undercoat you use, the blue will still be as blue. the blue you see on the box will look lightr because of all the highlights and such. check out some of my ultramarine videos and you'll see
so i have been doing scale models (planes and drag cars mostly) on and off for the last 30 years. can i use my airbrush to do warhammers? i hate brush painting.
Slight mistake mate.. critical hits can be blocked but it takes 2 normal save dice.. So if you roll 1,1,6 and I roll 1,4,5 then I can block your 6 with my 4 and 5.. Means that if you roll 4,5,6 which would be 10 DMG.. I roll 1,4,4 then I could block the critical or the 2 normal.. 5. Resolve Successful Saves The defender resolves all of their successful saves. To resolve a successful save, they select one or more of their retained defence dice, discard one of the attacker’s successful hits, then discard that defence dice. If the defence dice they select is a normal save, they select one of their opponent’s normal hits to be discarded. If the defence dice they select are two normal saves, they select one of their opponent’s critical hits to be discarded. If the defence dice they select is a critical save, they select one of their opponent’s normal hits or critical hits to be discarded.
I know there are more adavanced rules that I've shown here, I just showed whats in the beginner guide so people get a grasp of the basics first. but I apreciate you letting us know :D thank you
@TableTopReadyRUclips Ah ok.. never read the beginner guide.. or played a game for that matter.. only really skimmed the rulebook.. this was literally the only thing I remember.. 😁
The rules are a bit different along with stats. In kill team you move and act for individuals, whereas in full armies 40k you move and act for whole squads largely
40k is just a larger scale using units and kill team is a small skirmish game where yoru miniatures act indipendently from each other, the idea is still teh same and feels very familier
Killteam has different rules than the traditional Warhammer 40K rules? Why don't they paint hexagonal 1 inch semi transparent tiles on the tabloid and you have to count with a measure? is it actually one inch ? The game was created by Brits where they use metrics system , I don't think official 1 tile movement is measured in inches and not centimeters.
kill team does have a different rule set but it still feels familier enough. it does have a hexanginal grid because it's a skirmish game and not a baord game. you would have to have a more complicated rule set to include an already existing grid rather than just moving freely
@@TableTopReadyRUclips thanks for your kind reply. I kinda disagree. They are both board games since they are both played by physical players on a tabloid (either board or tabletop) but I get your point. KillTeam is deathmatch with same rules on smaller area and one unit each and some differentiation in movement and engagement. Also adjusting the rules either to tiles or hexagons I believe would be super easy. If you have 1 inch hexagons, simply replace the word inch with the word hexagon each time is used in codex book. 😉 ❤I would also LOVE to listen to you say the word "tabloid"❤ Which edition are we on to now? Where do I see the edition of Warhammer on the box ?

If you love grim dark stay away from w40k go for HH 30k
i would actually say 40k is more grim than horus heresy. considering its 10 thousand years later and everythings on teh verge of colapse and falling apart.

Thanks for the Christmas gift. I hope to get a set myself one day.
My brother and I each got this set for Christmas, the only fun thing I've ever got for Christmas as an adult. It's a fun set.
this is the best product games workshop have produced hands down. i hope you enjoying getting stuck in :D
Ok, I didn't expected playing tutorial on painting channel. However, very good introduction for newbies.
thank you, I just want to help people get into the hobby and its a nice change to a painting video :P
Thanks
Just as I was thinking about getting into kill team!
It's heaps fun!
Same.
Happy New Year! This is a great video. I love the format.
a video on the differences between killteam, combat patrol, and regular 40k would be great too

It's weird. I've never actually played 40k or Battletech on an actual tabletop, but I always like watching them get played.
Maybe one day.
i hope so :D

i really hope they give the same treatment to warcry as well :D I would do a video for that
I’ve been playing age of sigmar for a few years. Really want a starter set for 40k kill team after this vid.

you can paint the marines in this box what ever chapter you want :) I have some great tutorials for those as well :D
never played kill team looks good

I think its worth a try :D

yeah of course you can, its your hobby, i'm not going to be able to teach you about airbrushing though :P as I prefer brush painting
@@TableTopReadyRUclips fair enough. thanks for taking the time to reply. i dont get the tongue poke though, whats that about?
Do video about lord solar leontus...
HELP i built my first ever minis from the starter set and i didnt glue or get rid of the mold line is this bad and am i screwd
your going to be okay, these miniatures were designed to be assembled without glue and you can clean them up still once they're built
Turns out you are just a great communicator and not just a great painter!
wow, thats very kind of you to say. I'm just excited about getting more people into the hobby and this is an amazing set to do that with
I would really love if the only way to get this starter set wasn't scalpers on eBay :/ hopefully they restock soon.
this set is available from the warhammer website. just search kill team starter set

No worries. I didn’t know this rule myself
Branching out? I'm glad you made this. I've been wondering the difference is between "full army" 40k and a small kill team format.
The rules are a bit different along with stats. In kill team you move and act for individuals, whereas in full armies 40k you move and act for whole squads largely
