    play.google.co...
Captain Phillips is a multi-layered examination of the 2009 hijacking of the U.S. container ship Maersk Alabama by a crew of Somali pirates. Based on a true story, the film focuses on the Alabama’s commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips (two-time Academy Award®-winner Tom Hanks, Best Actor, 1993, Philadelphia; Best Actor, 1994, Forrest Gump), and the Somali pirate captain, Muse (Barkhad Abdi), who takes him hostage. The two men are set on an unstoppable collision course when Muse and his crew target Phillips’ unarmed ship; in the ensuing standoff, both men will find themselves at the mercy of forces beyond their control.

The piracy off the coast of Somalia wouldnt have develloped in the first place, if reckless foreign powers hadn't taken advantage of the Somali government breaking down, leaving the coasts unguarded. Illegal fishing trawlers from Europe and Asia fished the waters empty and dumped toxic waste while they were at it, robbing the local fishermen of their means to sustain themselves. In their desperation, they boarded the foreign ships ( who had no right to be there anyway ) when they were suddenly offered money if they gave back the captured vessels. So, basically, the whole situation was created by the capitalistic greed of our democratic countries. Just mentioning, before you fall back into the self-serving "we are the good ones and the somali pirates where evil to the bone" narrative.

Execution? I think the SEAL team would describe it as TARGET WHACKED.

When I heard the news of how those three shot simultaneously and hit their targets, I was impressed! It gave me so much faith in the skill of our military members and made me proud to be a veteran.

In reality they just picked them off when they showed their heads. While it wasn’t a long time it wasn’t synchronized.

The Pressure on Frank Castellano was immense ! What a efin PRO. Execution so clean that not even Captain Phillips knew they were dead the first second they dropped. That was chilling. He didnt know what was going on. Brilliant scene
