Hello I did NOT expect to record this today lol, I'd been really taking my time with this one because one, it's hard, and two, how often do you get solo piano themes of this caliber in a video game that isn't a slow pretty melody accompanying a death cutscene or romantic liaison or your party sleeping at an inn? THIS IS A BATTLE THEME AND THE THUNDER VERSION NO LESS, of the Silver Snow route. The day Three Houses came out and the OST was being leaked all over the internet, my friend Patti Rudisill linked me to this and i was like OH WOW I AM ALL OVER THIS. I started transcribing it, then got distracted by Edge of Dawn and Fodlan Winds and we all know what happened after that lol, thankfully some enterprising soul beat me to it: musescore.com/...
The ending is my own, and based off of a Scriabin prelude, Op. 11, No. 12 in G-sharp minor. What I absolutely LOVE about this theme is the heavy Romantic era harmonic stylings, which is very Chopinesque in nature but because I only have two brain cells lol, one for Rachmaninoff and the other for Scriabin, those ascending 8th note passages reminded me of this prelude so I worked it in hahaha.
I am glad I took my time on this one, although it would have been nice to include on the FE3H piano album, it wasn't possible because of licensing issues, but ended up being a blessing in disguise. I was pretty much an arranging machine from August to December and thus didn't spend as much time practicing as I wanted to because i was spending all my creative capital writing arrangements. So these past few weeks (besides writing all the parts for Apex of the World lol), I really took my time just trying to focus on being a better pianist and refining my tone and phrasing and technique and all that, still not where I want to be, but when am I ever hahaha. At least, I feel happier with my playing on this than a lot of the covers I've been doing lately.
Suffice it to say, this is most likely going to be the last of the solo piano Three Houses covers from me. I would really like to get back to Final Fantasy Tactics and Castlevania especially since Season 3 is dropping in March, so Dance of Pales will be my next upload! But there will be Three Houses collaboration covers from me from time to time (all you guys requesting Indomitable Will/Roar of Dominion/The Long Road/God Shattering Star, stuff is in the works with people, believe me haha)! And Apex of the World for string quartet, voice, harp, and soprano sax, will be dropping for sure in March sometime!

The [Thunder] version is already beautiful and fascinating, especially for what is supposed to be a theme for battle, but yours is on another level, it sounds wonderful!

We spent the whole game trying to rescue her, and help her move past her worst tendencies, and we even had to kill the house leader we spent the whole first part bonding with.
Edelgard is dead, by my hand.
Dimitri was killed at Gronder, along with all his classmates.
Claude fled to Almyra alone, leaving his classmates to die with Dimitri.
And now, we have to kill the last lord left, who now finally sees you as a person.
The level of fluidity and virtuosity you can display in a single take is always staggering. Top stuff!

Probably my favorite final battle song after God Shattering Star. I'm a sucker for emotional and serenic music. Especially when the thunder is actually softer than the rain version. I think I probably liked it more because I felt sympathetic for Rhea who had just learned from her mistakes only to immediately fall.

I prefer Rhea to Edelgard (although I am both of their prosecution lawyers) because Rhea actually develops unlike Edelgard who is firm in her ideals no matter what:

I adore it, and if she ever plans on covering another 3 Houses song on piano, I would love it if this were the one. As hard as it may be to translate to piano.
Honestly if I closed my eyes and just listened to this I would think it was an official remix of the thunder variation. Your sound is so professional and you absolutely nailed the tone of this piece through and through!

Oh my god you made me love this theme even more!! I haven’t touched 3 houses in a while (but I definitely will for that dlc lol) I remember when I first heard this theme I was really surprised by it because like you said, you don’t really hear piano pieces like this as battle music. I heard this from the Serenes Forest rip of the album and myyyyyyy goooooodnessss. I was pleasantly surprised to get this notification - it's tracks like this make me wonder HOW ON EARTH there are not more fans of this franchise.

Post listening I ABSOLUTELY *LOVE* IT! The changes in tempo and the pauses make it so much more heartfelt as if this piece couldn't get any more emotional. I feel like it really captures the inner struggle in Rhea if ya catch my drift without spoiling Silver Snow to the people who haven't finished it.

I haven't played through Silver Snow yet and I usually try to avoid hearing the final map themes until I hear them in game first, but I can never resist listening to one of your arrangements. You did such a fantastic job and this makes me really want to play Silver Snow even more! I can't wait to hear your arrangement of Apex of the World too! I know it'll be breathtaking
My first run happened to take me down the Church route, and man, this track was absolutely gut-wrenching. It really left an impression on me. I like jrpgs, and especially this type of strategy game, but the experience Three Houses has delivered has completely exceeded my wildest expectations, thanks in no small part to the soundtrack. Absolutely stunning stuff.

Wow! I can hardly find the words to express how beautiful this is. From one musician to another, I can tell that you didn't just take the short route to adapt the instruments. You did so in a manner so accurate, so fluid and natural and beautiful sounding that it didn't seem like a cover at all. You're so talented, and I'm so happy that you covered this piece. I keep coming back to this. The melody coming in at 1:42 is such a powerful moment, then when it shifts up a bit after it just capitalizes on all of the emotion the melody tugs at. And there are so many moving parts to this piece that you execute so well- I've always wanted to find a way to play this piece on a percussion instrument but I don't think there is a way without losing some of the magic in it.

This is absolutely incredible. The developers ought to pay you money for this piece. You really are talented! Knowing the context of this soundtrack, and knowing the tragic context of the story when it plays, it breaks my heart. And you break it in the best of ways with your beautiful sound. You should be proud of yourself ❤️
This is one I discovered a lot later, because it wasn't super obvious to me while playing it and having quick snippets of battles with this playing. But this is one of the most fine piano solos I've ever heard...it's just exquisite (and I never use that word LOL) You did a really wonderful cover here
All of the final boss themes are great the all have such deep meaning. Apex of the world was to show a climatic epic battle to end the wa. God shattering star showed how ominous and dangerous the enemy was and hyped you up while playing. But funeral of flowers is different it's not an epic or climatic theme it's a somber one. You're forced to kill the person you worked so hard to save and the thunder version goes even further by being played only on a piano really shows how sad the situation is
I want to learn how to play the piano and have my ultimate goal being to play this.

I really enjoyed reading your description too on how you incorporated a Scriabin prelude into the ending, that was pretty insightful and it's nice how you added your own touch to this. You've done this phenomenal soundtrack a real justice by making all these solo covers and the upcoming collabs are the icing on the cake. Without you, this soundtrack would never have gotten the full love it deserves cover-wise. Even Kylelandry's excellent cover of Fodland Winds doesnt translate the whole piece perfectly like yours does (no disrespect to him at all, hes amazing, but in this case I'm so glad you made your version as well)

This was probably the most emotionally significant fight for me in all of the roads, and I think of it alot. It was also my first route I took so that might have something to do with it lol. I feel that the Silver Snow route was a missed opportunity with it's similarity to Verdant Winds, but to me when I think of this battle, your version is what I think in my head. Really speaks to your talent, thanks for this.

out of curiosity do you (or anyone who else can play this) have any tips on playing the fast broken octaves leading up to the main "song of nabateans" theme (around 1:37) and the second one that follows later in the piece? i notice you use both hands and i'm just wondering what notes are played for each hand to sound seamless like in the video :) this is such a fantastic cover and the way you play it is so beautifully done! i can only hope to one day play this just as nicely, so thank you for sharing this!
You may have heard this before, but start by really taking it slow. If it's too much to handle or your fingers can't reach, you don't have to play the octave, as long as you play it forte and accented you'll capture the gist of the piece. Gradually take it quicker and you really will get it. Good luck in your piano playing!
