Another massive issue no one is pointing out. The headset only allows ONE user per device. There’s a guest mode but if you were thinking you can get one for the whole house to use, that’s not how it works right now.
I think what they mean is it is "fitted" to one person upon purchase. Theoretically you could order custom fitting for everyone in your house but I think I remember hearing they were about 300 usd a pop@@w1-em4nq

I am a firm believer in it doesn't matter how powerful hardware is if they is nothing on the software side and tbh the vision pro still seems a bit like a tech demo to me since most use it like ar glasses so i don't get the point of the heft

I will truly believe in this technology when someone figures out how to turn all Flat Screen games in to 3D window games. Where the virtual "screen" acts more like a window in that world. With true parallax if you move closer to the screen or side to side. Making essentially every game truly feel like a world just though that window.
I feel Apple could've advertised the gaming aspect more. but in their quest (pun intended) to seem different from other VR headsets, they didn't do it but now they have less interest from game devs. this could definitely change over time though.

It’s the same as pushing to advertising the gaming on the iPhone. The iPhone is great to game on, but most people buying want their lives to be easier in one place or another
Imagine a background horror game that takes a LIDAR scan of your house and inserts a ghost or monster somewhere to jumpscare you randomly. That would be peak AR gaming.
Still using my Quest 2, which is fine for my VR uses - which consist 99% of every day cardio workouts, and once in a while for active games (Pistol Whip, Until You Fall, Eleven Table Tennis, Gorilla Tag, Super Hot, etc). I still prefer consoles for the games I love to spend time in, and I don’t need or want mixed reality. All that said, I think the new tech is fascinating, and love to hear about it.
i used to be the IT manager of a hedge fund, where it was normal for people to have 6+ monitors 2*3, i could see this being something useful, it's main issue however is the fact it's Apple, which you would'nt use in a trading environment. The cost would not be an issue , if it works as advertised, it could cost 5x the amount. In fact this would actually be cheaper than the physical monitor alternative the real question is it comfortable for 8hours+ usage , which i suspect not
VR is and always has been an additive not the mainstream. It will never take over because people like TV, controller, or handheld and that hasn’t changed in 40+ years.
I see so many people and influencers getting hyped over this device, but I can already imagine in a couple months it’ll start collecting dust in their closets

It’s awesome experience, I got the psvr2 and the quest 3 , I don’t play them full time but when games come out for them like Arizona sunshine 2 and asguards rath 2 and such it’s awesome :) you gotta play saints and sinners

im a big fan of the Quest 3. I was watching RUclips on a giant screen while making my lunch. The passthrough is good enough at this point to do these things. Also using my Mac on a big screen with metas built in app and I can see my keyboard. I'm excited to see what apple comes up with as well but right now that price is a hard pill to swallow and you can get so much with Quest at just 500.
Price alone makes this no go for me, but I think the Apple Vision Pro is really important. I know tons of people who have never heard of an index, or rift, or vive, or even quest, but everyone knows about this. It brings the future of VR to the mainstream and I think that will lead to more advancement and a larger market/player base. Super excited for the future of VR. Things like this will push the envelope.

I think this is a good example of things that are before their time but are adding value to the field. It's too bulky and heavy and hot and nobody wants something heavy hanging off of their face BUT the remote play possibilities combined with IR are very awesome. If I could see the outside world (my house) and also play a video game and watch some youtube with screens that are wherever I want them to be, I think that would be a very awesome thing.

Vr simracing on my quest 3 has been awesome I think vr is definitely up there now if you have the specs for it. There is a lot of fun to be had especially on the fps games as well.

If the vision pro was made by anyone else, with no proprietary bs and app store monopoly, being able to use any OS, i would definitely get it even at that price.
You are right that app developers need to take advantage of the Vision Pro's potential. It will only continue to grow from here. Once Apple improves the device, especially by making the HMD independent of the Mac, it will be even more powerful.

Replaced my 16 inch M1X MBP 13” iPad Pro 55 & 75” tvs and I’ve been in the future for about three weeks now I love it. I recommend it definitely go in for a fitting if you’re going to buy and whether you’re buying or not get that free demo, you won’t regret it.

For $3500 I could just buy a few monitors and an arm to mount them on or a full top tier gaming computer to go with the monitors I already have.

The Steam Link app is natively supported on Apple Vision Pro, and you can just stream games from your computer
