Can we put the flag upside down?
This is why I was out in a tornado last year grabbing my flag up off the ground~!! And yes,,we are a country in distress~my flag is being flown upside down.......

I fought for this country and am now 100% sevice connected disabled. I have no regrets about that. What i do regret is what our country has become. We are not black , white Hispanic asian democrats or Republicans. We are all Americans.
Thank you for your sacrifices. God Bless you🇺🇸❤️. My dad survived the battle of the bulge. Thank God. I despise what our politicians are doing to hurt this country, but I love America and never deny her!!

Thank you for your and your family's sacrifices. A grand number of us can never thank you enough.
Were the 100% Anglo-Saxon men, who signed the Declaration of Independence and wrote the Constitution. Thinking about Africans, Asians and Latin Americans, when they were doing so? Remember, most of those men owned humans as property at the time. A practice which had been banned in Britain since the 11th century. Also, something which the British at the time, were seeking to abolish in their colonies. What a great time to want to cut ties with the Mother Country.

I'm a legal immigrant from a communist country , I've been here since I was five and I love this country with all my heart and soul . Too many people in this country take it for granted .

Unfortunately things are going so bad that we may lose it all ... Then many will realize ... They never knew what they had until it's gone , but it will be too little too late . What a dang shame .
God raised up America as the one and only global superpower for the protection of Israel.
@negativex6026 YOU SAID IT! WE LOVE YOU TOO! THATS THE AMERICAN DREAM. LEGAL IMMIGRATION IS THE BASIS OF WHY THIS "MELTING POT" STILL WORKS TODAY!! Most have seen what their communist, socialist, fascist, etc.. ways have done to their homeland. Then, they choose to immigrate here to have their freedoms back! It's a beautiful thing!! Many 'American Youths' have had these freedoms from birth and take them for granted, don't understand, if they continue to be influenced by outsiders who have plans to conquer this land, they could lose so much! Wake Up!
I turned 58 yesterday and I have always loved our country and Great full for what the for father's did and the sacrifices they made for our 'independence' I highlighted that because I don't think a lot of people know what that word means , because to many people depend on our government to take care of them I see people crying about free health care and if they think about it that would mean the government would be in charge of their health care and seeing how they do such a bang up job on everything else I'll have to pass on that , back in the 70s before Clinton signed us into NAFTA and a lot of businesses packed up and moved overseas jobs competed for workers and had pensions and 100% paid insurance with 0 deductible you know back when America was Great 🤔
This is why we don't let the flag hit the ground and we don't kneel for the Anthem, we stand up for it for those who can't.
You hear that Colin Kaepernick? And the NFL leadership that allowed his foolishness to go on?

I’m Canadian and even I removed my hat when the song started. This is such a powerful piece of history with so much depth, meaning and character I have nothing but love and respect for my freedom loving family and brothers down south. Happy Independence Day
We have no closer brothers as a nation then our northern neighbors. Every patriotic American i know would fight nearly as readily for our northern brothers as for ourselves.
I too, identify as North American! 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Happy independence, fam!
During hockey games if playing a Canadian team they play both anthems, I always stand for the Canadian one too even though I’m American. It’s just respectful…Plus I don’t want to make our norther neighbors angry…You guys tend to go ham when wars pop off 🤣
US and Canada, BFF, for real. I'm so glad to have Canada as an ally. No nation in earth could step foot in North America without finding out real quick how poor a choice that is.
I was taught as a child that this is why every true American won't see the flag on the ground. Its disrespectful to the memory of those who perished to keep that flag up on that day. There is so much more than we realize. Thank you for this July 4th gift.
accept most of this story is wrong. The truth is a great story so he didn't have to lie about it. This is modern America, lie to make it bigger ....
yes distortion of history is wrong .
@@Cuffsmaster first of all, I think you meant "except" not "accept". I do not accept that most of this story is wrong. I do accept that the story as told here was told in a way to stir the American soul. This story made it sound like many died when in fact, only 4 brave men died and 24 more were injured. 330 British soldiers were either killed, wounded or captured. The incredible part to me is that Britain suffered nearly 14 times more casualties than the American patriots. This was during the war of 1812 when Britain came back mad that we were succeeding as a nation. While 4 deaths and 24 injuries may not seem like a lot to you what I see is 4 strong courageous people left this world too early. That is the point, people have died to as BP said give us the freedom to live the lives we get to live today. It's about gratitude to ALL who have served, bled, and died for that principle.

My grandpa used to say, it doesn't matter how poor you are, doesn't matter your race or your skin color. Color. If you are an American and you live in these United States and you are damn blessed. The freedom's here are unmatched by any country in the world. That is why I stand against all who wish to destroy the freedoms that these brave American heroes time and time again have stood to give us. I am proud to be an American.
There's nothing wrong with being a patriot...but your grandfather was misinformed. The U.S. is not the most free country there is. It's not even in the top 10. The founding fathers had a vision of true freedom for this country, and built us the best foundation for that vision that they could...but the cracks in that foundation began to form almost immediately. Still...America offered opportunities that most countries didn't in it's early days, and many people immigrated here to take advantage of that. The rest of the world was watching, tho. They saw our success and our rapid rise to power, and many tried to emulate it. Many succeeded. "Freedom" as an ideal was the vision our nation was founded upon, and for that reason, we honor freedom above all else...but was the freedom the founding fathers envisioned ever truly actualized?? To an extent, sure. But we're still not quite there, and MANY other countries have surpassed us in that regard. Our democracy is incredible in theory...but in practice, it's broken. The mega-rich can buy politicians and power, giving them nearly all of the control. Capitalism is also great in theory, but not in practice, for much the same reason. The mega-rich horde the wealth, while the rest of us either work ourselves to the bone just to barely scrape by, or freeze and starve to death on the streets. Our military HAS fought for our freedom...but not recently. Not since WWII, really. Mostly they fight to make the mega-rich even richer. That certainly isn't the goal of the individual soldier...but it IS the purpose they serve. I'm a true patriot in the sense that I love my country, ALL of its' people, and the vision of the founding fathers...but I refuse to ever become a blind nationalist. I accept he reality of things...not some fantasy based on ideals that were laid down by the founding fathers, but never fully actualized. So be a patriot...but educate yourselves first. Don't let your desire to feel truly proud overshadow the truth.

And this is why no one should not stand for this anthem. It is respect.
It is the rule of the military, and should be observed by all Americans, that when the anthem plays you stand and face the flag. If there is no flag, you face the source of the music.
My dad was part of the silent generation. He lied about his age bc he was homeless to enlist in the Navy at 17. He served in the Korean War. I his later years, he developed Parkinson’s. Despite his poor balance and constant tremors, he ALWAYS stood for the anthem. Even when he stood out from a wheelchair.

Not just respect. People who don't know history don't understand that bending the knee at the flag is surrendering TO tyranny not fighting it. Smh
For all of you that fought for our country and died for it, thank you 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦅🦅
Don't thank us, live your life as if you earned it! Freedom is never free!
My 8th Great Grandfather, Christopher Crary, was twice captured by the British. The second time, he was imprisoned in one of the prison ships, where the conditions were so squalid that most prisoners died from disease and starvation. Christopher escaped from the prison ship and returned to the fight, serving until the war was won. He's an inspiration to me in times like this, when those who have never endured tyranny seem willing to surrender the freedoms our ancestors sacrificed everything to give us. Democracy is fragile. Our resolve to defend it cannot be.
This is so well-written. Thank you to your 8th Grandfather and to all men who have fought for our freedom !!! I am a Baby Boomer and miss the strong sense of Patriotism I was taught as a child and all during my school years. I also have a hard time sitting if I hear the Star Spangled Banner, and after standing, putting my right hand over my heart and singing while tears fill my eyes, with great love and gratitude for the gift I have as an American citizen to live my life as I choose within the laws in the Constitution. This past 3 and 1/2 years has been SO sad and painful as Government Officials ignore the Laws that exist and do whatever they want. As an Army Veteran who joined up after 9/11... shortly after High School... it makes my blood boil when I see the disrespect our flag & Coubtry gets from her own people...

And that flag is still in the museum!!
Based on a true story. There were 10 British boats, not the entire fleet. This incident occurred during the War of 1812. And yes, as several mentioned, this flag is in the Smithsonian's American History museum.
It's not propaganda but it is very much embellished.
It may not be propaganda in the strictest terms, but this is a highly embellished account of the battle of Fort Henry. Historians have found that the British did not specifically target the flag. All in all, there were about 28 total American casualties. The bodies of dead soldiers were not used to hold up the flag pole. That is a total falsehood in this account of the events. A 42 by 30 foot flag has to be on a well-anchored pole, it cannot be held up by a few dead bodies stacked around it.
First African American to receive the Medal of Honor
Service: United States Army Rank: Sergeant, Unit: 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, Place of action: Fort Wagner, South Carolina, Date of action: July 18, 1863
Sgt. Carney was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery during the assault on Fort Wagner, where he carried the American flag despite being wounded multiple times.
He was the first African American to receive the Medal of Honor.
Thank you for sharing.
Not taking anything away from that great American Hero, but he was not the first. The date of action for which he received the award is earlier than the man that was the first is where some of the confusion comes when this comes up. Sgt Carney didn't receive his until 1900. Landsman Arron Anderson was the actual first to be awarded the MoH, even though the date of action for his award is almost 2 years after that of Sgt Carney. Landsman Arron Anderson was issued his citation on June 22nd 1865.

And one more thing... how amazing is it that we did break away from Great Britain, only like 250 years ago and yet we became the closest of friends and staunch allies, to them and they to us. We love our British brothers and sisters today. So not only does America fight and not give up, but we also forgive and give second chances, not just in Word but in actions.
You know why that is? Because the British common law is the DNA of the American Constitution. The American Revolution basically held up a mirror to Britain's own standards, and found them lacking, and re-established them in a purer way, in a new land. And not only have the Brits taken a few meaningful looks in that mirror over the last couple of centuries, we have also faced common enemies together that threatened civilization as either of us knew it.
Even the UK reactors on RUclips really get emotional while watching this video. It's ironic how many will comment about seeing Old Glory everywhere before watching this to fullu understanding why afterwards
@@joeday4293 Amen Joe!!! We all need to take a good long look in the mirror now and then. We all lose our way from time to time. One thing not mentioned is that civilians sunk their own ships in the harbor to keep the British navy out. You can see the masts poking out of the water in some of the paintings. Great reaction. I don't know when they stopped teaching this in schools but I remember learning about this in school in like 2nd or 3rd grade & it made me proud to be an American back then! When football players started taking a knee during the national anthem, I stopped watching football. They were flat out disrespecting the men and women who sacrificed their lives so we all could live free. No, we didn't treat the Native Americans or Asians or Blacks right in the beginning but we realized the error of our ways and grew as a nation and changed. Blacks in America have it much better than their cousins back in Africa who sold their ancestors into slavery. Asians, Latinos, and every other nationality or ethnicity who came and added their culture to our own has only made us stronger as a nation and more inclusive than any other country in the world. The fact that in Los Angeles alone there are more nationalities represented than at the UN shows how much of a melting pot we are. Most Americans cannot trace their ancestry back to one country, nationality, or ethnicity, but instead find that they are a mix of many different cultures, peoples, and ethnicities. I've had ancestors on both sides of both world wars, yet I'm able to find pride in both cultures, and still be proud to be an American. Our great seal says it best, E Pluribus Unum ~ Out of Many, One.
This is why disrespect for the Flag is so insulting to Patriots. A lot of blood has been spilled so we, as citizens, can have freedom (even if you act like a heathen a**). Respect to you, sir. Thank you.

There is something that a lot of Americans today don’t think about, when the founding fathers signed their names to the Declaration of Independence they were initially signing their death warrants. We did not win our freedom with pen and paper, we had to fight the greatest naval and military power at the time and lose many lives to do so. It was by God’s grace that America came to be,if we had lost,King George could have very well had those men put to death for treason or in prison. Yes we should celebrate this day with jubilation and songs of freedom and thanks giving to our Father for life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but let’s not forget to remember the labor pains America endured to birth this Nation 🇺🇸

Many of them were in their thirties and some younger. Average age of the signers was in their 40s. Think about that and how young the greats were
You left out the fact that if France didn’t bankroll us and give us troops, ships, and $$ we would have been screwed. It took a long time for the US to become a “country” and were really a loose confederation of states. So that presented a lot of issues with different states and who pays the soldiers and who doesn’t. That’s why there was mutiny a few times. They were especially angry about having done a year or two and hadn’t been paid while new recruits were given bonuses and pay. So they got extremely angry (justifiably).
That’s part of why Benedict Arnold defected to the British. He fought and spent $10,000 out of pocket on different campaigns with Congress agreeing to pay originally and then afterwards giving him a hard time. Then he was injured twice in the same leg. The last one happened when he rallied the troops and single-handedly won during Saratoga while Gates twiddled his thumbs. That’s when the French agreed to openly help us. Then Gates went and said he did it all by himself. They also accused him of using his position as leader of Philadelphia to “enrich himself”. That was the last straw. After that he defected.
God Bless America❤❤
This is the reason we should respect the flag, for what it stands for 🇺🇸

As the teams from all the countries
paraded in front of the King, lowering their flags in respect, the American didn't. When asked why, he said- "This flag bows to no earthly king."
To the rest of the world, the US attitude to the flag is very strange. Every other country also believes that their flag is sacred: at a funeral, battle or a contest, laying the flag on the ground is *not* a sign of submission, but of consecrating the ground and imbuing it with the ideals of that country. The flag is more powerful than the ground.
For the US, a flag touching the ground means the flag has been desecrated, made dirty and has to be burnt. It is patriotic, but only on a superficial level, as it implies that Americans think the ground is more powerful than their flag.
@@dominicbuckley8309 No. Nobody thinks that. What are you talking about? We don't think any flag is "powerful". We think letting something sacred get dirty, is bad. It's the same reason you dress nice for church, or that the priest doesn't show up all dirty. If you are doing something sacred, it should be done cleanly. By your logic, we baptize babies because they are weak. Like...could you miss the point more? Is it even possible?
@@Tijuanabill You have literally just proved my point. Americans think of lowering the flag as 'letting something sacred get dirty'. Every other country in the world sees lowering the flag to the ground (usually in salute to the fallen) as _the flag making the ground sacred_ . Of course, we're not talking about accidental dropping (which is always bad), but a deliberate salute performed at funerals and memorials. In the past, it was also done prior to battles or contests, as a symbol of making the ground your own.
To use your baptism analogy: to the rest of the world, the US attitude to lowering the flag is like saying that a baby shouldn't be baptized because the holy water would get dirty.
Anyways, from an historical point of view it needs to be pointed out that the US attitude to lowering the flag did not date from this incident. It actually became a tradition during the Civil War, but was not made official until the Flag Code of 1923.
@@dominicbuckley8309 Yeah but, why on earth would we care what lesser nations do and think? We are better than them, so they should follow our lead, not the reverse.

Speaking of God Bless the USA, you should check out that very song by Lee Greenwood.
Happy 4th of July. This should be shown in every classroom in every school. May God continue to bless the USA.❤❤❤❤
Nah. It’s fake history.
What's it like having an imaginary being blessing you?
And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free. And I won't forget, the men who died, who gave that right to me! And I'd gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today. Cause there aint no doubt I love this land....God Bless the USA!!!
You only think you're free.
Ive watched this at least50 times & still hits my feels!!🥺🙏🏻🇺🇸
Thank you!! God Bless America! Our Flag, Our Pride!
You never hear our anthem the same way again.
Correct. The music for the US anthem, isn't even American. It's an English drinking song, that was written three decades earlier. The Muricans couldn't even create an original anthem.
@@sandgrownun66but we could kick your axx. We’re good.
@@sandgrownun66 We made it our own. If the British Empire (talking about back then) was gonna colonize; we can colonize their own song.
@@ThePositive0ne1 It was already somebody else's before the US stole it. Ripping-off a song you get p!ssed to, is hardly comparable to a small island creating the largest Empire in human history.
I love you reaction I agree with you !
Go to Ft McHenry and listen to them tell the story of the flag. Everyone holds an edge. It changes you. That was my happy place when I lived in Baltimore. It’s surrounded by the Bay and so beautiful.
And (at least when I went many years ago)…. a video telling the story is shown at the visitors’ center. At the end of the video they naturally play the Star Spangled Banner. The right wall in the small auditorium is glass but covered with curtains. As they slowly open during playing/singing of our National Anthem at the end of the video, there is the replica 15 star and 15 stripe flag still flying.
To be there and hear the story, then the National Anthem is played and unexpectedly have the curtains drawn back to reveal a replica of the same flag flying on the staff was pretty emotional.
Anyone who thinks this video draws out emotions, if you ever get the chance, needs to stand on those grounds at Fort NcHenry and see the same (replica) flag still flying.
This TRUTH is what needs to be taught in school instead hate bating and division
Except the video is almost completely untrue
God answers prayers 🙏❤ Makes the impossible easy. He gave us our nation.
Thank You, You are so right about the Flag!
All I can say is Amen brother.
as a vet (corpsman with the 2nd med battalion out of Lejune) God, Country, Corps.
Never forget the sacrifices we paid to be free. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Now more then ever we need our nation, our children, to hear these words from our mouths.
The Flag is more then just a flag. It is the symbol of a covenant that our forefathers paid for in blood, that all should be free. God bless our country, our people, and you brother.
God bless you, and Semper Fi my Devil Doc Brother!
Happy 4th from the UK 🇺🇲🏴
Thank You!
One of our local news stations here in the Chicago area interviewed several people who had just become citizens. It was either on July 2 or third of this year and there was one lady who said Americans don’t know how good they have it and that is why people want to come here. We need to all listen to that message and one of the quotes in this video, that Americans will die on their feet before they live on their knees. We do not need a dictator. We need to save our democracy.
Why are you going to have a Dictator?
Fine. Except bother reading the founding documents. We are a Constitutional Republic not a democracy. We are living under a Facist president right now. We need to get back to our founding MAGA!
Exactly!!
Your reaction says it all. You are a Patriot.
I was born on July 4TH 1966. This is such a deep message. Although we are different we all bleed the same.we should be banding together to make us united. We shouldn't have to wait for a big disaster to happen here before we put aside are differences and help each other.people have to stop being so petty and be kind and thoughtful to all. I love being an American but being free isn't free.so thank the brave ones who fought for us.🇺🇸✌💞🎆
Amen Pegasus, I was born and raised here and I’m very proud of this country. Once you’ve seen this you have an even bigger respect for our beautiful flag. God Bless America. Happy Birthday America ❤️🙏🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Actually, your flag is pretty boring. There countries with much more interesting and meaningful ones.
Happy Independence Day, fellow Americans!!!!
♥️🇺🇸♥️🇺🇸♥️🇺🇸♥️🇺🇸♥️🇺🇸♥️🇺🇸
I'm 67 an learned more about this history then they teach now , History and Social studies need to be put back in the school's along with mathematics reading, industrial arts.
Massive amounts of citizens are still willing to stand and fight for justice.
The best rendition I've ever heard, and seen because I was at Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs v Eagles Super Bowl when it was sung, was performed by Chris Stapelton. There were few dry eyes on the field or in the stands that evening! Chiefs fans are famous for changing the words, very loudly, from Home of the Brave to Home of the Chiefs. This was one of the few times, although it was less fans doing it, I wished they hadn't done it at all! ❤️💛❤️👑
I thank you for standing upholding the honor of the flag & our country. God bless America!
brought a tear to my eye, this is the history that some people are trying to erase... I have no words other than THANK YOU!!
The “history” in that video is fake
Happy Birthday America! I wish I could hit the 'like' button 1000 times.
Why? The music for the US anthem, isn't even American. It's an English drinking song, that was written three decades earlier. The Muricans couldn't even create an original anthem.
I live in Baltimore , 3 miles from that waterfront. Everytime I go through the tunnel that goes from one side to the other , I picture that battle in my head. There was also a bridge named Francis Scott Key Bridge which is the bridge that just collapsed from being hit by a cargo ship. 2024 Everyone should come to see Fort McHenry and picture that battle in their minds.
I respect this history, I'm crying like a baby here. Thank you ! Good bless America !!
Fly The Colors Today🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤
I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and have been to Ft. McHenry many times. A visit to the welcome center is a must. There is a dramatic presentation of the history of the fort and ends with the playing of The Star Spangled Banner as the curtains open to a view of the fort with the flag flying above the fort. It brings a tear to my eyes every time. Everyone that comes to Baltimore should put this on their to do list. The flag that was flying over the fort which inspired the song now resides in the Smithsonian for all to see.
The video they play at Fort McHenry is much better than this video and eliminates many of the mistakes made in this video. It is impossible to not get chills when the curtain pulls back to reveal the flag!
I drove from Texas to Baltimore and other cities on vacation and made sure that Fort McHenry was on the bucket list.
They still fly the 15 star and 15 stripe flag.
The music for the US anthem, isn't even American. It's an English drinking song, that was written three decades earlier. The Muricans couldn't even create an original anthem.
Most of us have faced discrimination. Remember women couldn't vote until 1920. But some badass Americans stood up and made changes happen. The fact that we have the right to do that is what makes America and I think that's beautiful. 🇺🇲
Only one person has ever told it like this R.I.P. Paul Harvey
This is President Ronald Reagan, as the narrator of this. He also was a true patriot in my opinion.
God bless America, again.
6:23 you mf right 🦅🦅🦅 God bless brother, thanks for sharing and reacting to this. Have a happy 4th and Happy Birthday America 🇺🇸
I Love America 🇺🇸
To your speech, I say AMEN BROTHER!
We were taught this in grade school. It's a shame that history is no longer taught in schools.
GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
God bless America, brother.
Wow man thanks, true American. I love to see that, I totally agree.
We can’t let this country go down! Don’t let the elites get away with it!
Now all of you this is why WE AS AMERICANS are So proud of FLAG,it was defended by our
For fathers. This is OUR FAMILY ROOTS
I'm over 70 now. One of the most important and honorable things I have ever done was being the flag bearer for the my Girl Scout troop. I was thirteen then and I still feel honored to have carried and cared for the flag of the United States of America. And thanks to my daddy a WWII veteran. God bless the USA.
Thanks for sharing this on your channel. I'm moved to tears and proud to be an American
When the Star Spangled Banner started, I placed my hand over my heart, sat up straight and sang along and was happy to see you remove your hat and place it over your heart. Thank you. Thank you for being fearless about what you value and believe. God bless America!
Happy Independence Day.....
Narrated by the Great Paul Harvey..... When I was young Paul hosted a Radio show called "The rest of the Story" he would tell you a story about a historical figure/event but not reveal until the end who the story was about......
There are some Embellishments in this story, but the facts at the base of the story are Correct/True
The Star Spangled Banner ALWAYS makes me cry. To me those aren't just red stripes, they represent every drop of blood that was ever or will ever be spilled to protect our freedoms. Disrespecting the American flag is disrespecting every man and woman who fought and/or died for it.
God Bless You Sir, and God Bless America
