I threw a Freeway 5-Way/10 Position Switch in my Nashville Tele and it is phenomenal. 5 Strat pickup combos, All 3 Tele Combos and Series Combos that are very close to Humbucker Tones.
I've seen those but never had my hands on one. What does the "gear shift" feel like? To get the tele middle sound, do you go to position 2, then click (or shift) to the other row? I should probably check these out.
I have the Freeway 10-way in a strat, it’s fantastic! Looking to do the same with my tele, adding a strat mid pickup. Did you have to ground the neck pickup cover? Should the mid pickup be reverse wound?
@@magnusberger6762 ah cool. I've never used the freeway switch, but it's a great concept. When adding a strat pickup to a traditional tele set there will be compromises as you can't align the RWRP side of things. My advice is don't over think it. Just grab one, doesn't matter how it's wired, no special grounding needed. Just wire it in, test it in all combinations, flip it & test again. Wire in your favorite of the two and it will be amazing. Mine used a slightly hotter "blues" pickup and it gets some of the best strat quack tones of any of my guitars. You'll love it, trust me. :)
@@BenBreardI guess it will be noise cancelling in only one of the «in between» settings, as the two tele pickups are wound opposite of each other. Yes, not thinking too much is probably a good advice. :) In my strat i have a metal plate under the bridge pickup. With the Freeway switch it’s basically strat, tele and Les Paul(ish) sounds in one guitar! Having that in a tele would be great - they’re cooler looking than strats and the volume knob is not in the way when strumming. :)
I have one of the very First Nashville Telecasters .... I use most the neck pick-up, the middle pic-up and now and then the in-between of the bridge and the middle ... for the Strat-sound ... Almost never the bridge pick-up - I never liked it - and never the middle and neck in-between sound ... (it is actually the same when I play my Strats ...) a couple of good sounds from a guitar you can tweak a little is what you need ...
I modded my Harley Benton TE-52 to Nashville, I just wired the middle pickup to a flick switch and a mini knob in between the two existing knobs for the volume, I am thinking about the 2 pole switch though as I am not 100% happy with the look of my mod. I have to ask you, what is the satin clear coat you have on that body or is it oil?
Yeah the 2-pole rocks. This finish is just tung oil with a coat of wax on top. It's similar to how they finished the early Washburn N4s that Nuno really plays. ;)
Really interesting video ! Thank you for sharing !

That's what I did too. There is also a 6 in line switch that someone makes that gets all the strat and tele combos

I gave up playing guitar after seeing this guy perform
........said no one ever. 😂
❤
when you said "dang it" you sounded just like kip from Napolitan Dynomite.
I'll take that as a compliment! Kip & Uncle Rico are my favorite part of that movie. ;)
