Wise men. Too many times young farmers take over and buy equipment that don't need. What a great and godly attitude you have. To be grateful - only then are we open to receiving endless blessings from our heavenly Father.
You’re such a humble soul, I really appreciate that especially you being as young as you are, it’s a rare find today, your right, we all want things, but being thankful for what you have is key, the rest will find its own path. and I too like how your care for your cows it shows honor and respect for all life. great job and again, thank you. really cool videos, I've been bin watching since I found you today.
I've been subscribed and watching your videos for several weeks now. I really enjoy them and find it very interesting seeing what life's like on a dairy farm. I believe you do a great job at editing your video content by making them interesting, educational and humorous. I also really appreciate what you said at the end of this particular video - about how we need to recognized our being blessed and not allowing ourselves to get caught up in always wanting more. It's good to plan ahead and think of ways we might do things better, but when we choose to remember to humble ourselves - to make the best of what we have, and be thankful for it - we are able to enjoy life more fully and be a good example to others. Some of the happiest people I know don't necessarily have a lot of material possessions. I also know some people who have lots of stuff and plenty of money, but it seems they are very miserable in their souls. Wise people recognize that true lasting contentment doesn't come from bigger and better stuff. Stuff can certainly be enjoyed, and can make life easier and even more profitable sometimes, but lasting contentment really only comes if one has a real and personal relationship with Christ and through their relationship with family & friends. Appreciate the example you and your family display. I also have to admit that for some reason, watching the manure go down into the hole in the ground when you scrape it with the tractor, is so satisfying! Hahaha-Weird!!
Your comments at the end of the video are so spot-on. It's difficult to keep it at the front of our minds, but we are better off than many other people in the world. And I did need the reminder. Thank you.
I watch your video's mostly at random. All great stuff. You have such nice tame animals...it shows how well you care for them. I stumbled onto your channel ...maybe three weeks ago. I watch regularly.
What you said at the end of the video really struck a chord with me. It is very frustrating when you can’t make improvements that you would like to do to the current dairy economy. We all have to look elsewhere for motivation to keep us going. By the way I have the exact same portable welder you have 😂🤣🤣
Yeah it's tough right now with the milk price. Just gotta keep doing the best we can with what we have and hope things turn around. Haha that thing is not light
IL Dairy Farmer I was just about to make that exact comment when I saw yours. Mine wasn’t going to be specific to a dairy farm but very well said, I think what was said at the end of the video relates to all of us.
Greetings from Cairns, Australia. I've just watched about 5 of your videos and I'm suitably impressed. You work hard, in fact, almost non-stop, have a relaxed character and appear not to be too flustered when things go awry. Congratulations, all your videos are definitely worth watching and I like your simple style without all the pretences, bells and whistles. Excellent stuff.
I love your videos. It was always nice going to look at equipment at those shows and dream about owning it but if Uncle Sam didn't own your dairy farm it's going to be very hard to afford with today's prices and all the more they pay for milk and grain. Keep your head up young man from what I see you come from a awesome family and your a very good hearted person yourself and that means so much God bless you and your family.
I was at my local farm show today. It’s not nearly as big as the Keystone Farm show but it works for our local farmers. I saw a hay merger while I was there, too.
You are blessed. I am blessed. One more thing just really won't bring true happiness. But I'll have to admit, I got excited about all the big cool and super big machines. And I don't even know what they are good for. I like mucking out the manure. I think that would be one of my favorite jobs. It's immediate gratification cause everything looks so clean afterwards. The cows are happy.
Hi. Just a friendly reminder : Don't give to much of a location where you are . Keystone Farm Show is close enough. There is people with dishonest intentions scouring RUclips movies for workshops to see what kind of tools they can borrow indefinitely ( same for equipment ) . These days- with internet and Google Maps almost anyone can find out where you are living. I am not trying to make you stopping RUclips movies . You are doing a great and honest job out there. I like your comments about things you can NOT afford to buy because you don't have the money for it. That is a very honest remark. Unfortunately I have not seen that from too many more RUclipsrs . It shows that you are on to something with your farm. Hopefully the winter is not going to be too cold for your guys. Keep eating cheezy Pizzas. It will keep you warm.
I've visited alot of crappy dairy farms with my dad and all i can say is, those are good moments to experience it lets you see what you have isn't all that bad. Great vid 👍👍
Awesome video mate! Really well said too, I must say! I tell you, it's very true! Great to see a young guy taking over your farm there, and embracing the hard work. I really hope the future looks bright for you mate! Thanks for sharing!👍😀
The PA Farm Show in Harrisburg is a really great way to start the New Year. This year it starts on the 4th of January and ends on the 12th. Te Deum Laudemus.
They need to be separated from the rest of the herd especially if they are on medication. They still need to be milked but you don’t want that milk mixed in with the good milk.
Great video(s) Dairyman. You have good work ethic. Your parents raised you right,,bottom line. The Bible says in multiple places,,,'Those who do honest work on Earth, will be rewarded in Heaven'. Something to always keep in the back of your mind. And yes,,, you can always have a 'wanting' for many many things,( in regards to the latest equipmant at the farm show, ,,but,,I always think of the saying." If you are content with what you have, you are always rich". Keep the videos comin'.
You intentions are gold, but you citations are not. Please read the actual Bible to cite it instead of quoting a "liberal interpretation" of it. Lets respect god's word please, I know you do
Just found your channel, great vids. Also I just want to thank you for all the hard work you do to get milk in our glass and cheese on our Pizza :) I truly do appreciate you guys!!
I've always thought to myself, on the farms I've worked on over the years. I don't care how old a tractor is on farms. As long as they start relatively easy! It's great to look at the top machinery but, like you mentioned, we should always be grateful for what we've got. Noticed the Semex hat again. Have you or your dad, heard of bulls called Hanoverhill Inspiration and Hanoverhill Jethro? We had some awesome heifer calves from them. Also, have you both heard of a bull called Sexation Bert? We purchased semen many years ago for all of those bulls from Semex, over here in the UK, if I remember rightly. The heifer you got in the shed where your dad says "It's not always that easy". Just reminded me of them.
It was the first time going to the keystone farm show for me this year with my FFA chapter, and I am defiantly going next year haha.. Always nice to see the newest technology
Our 1520 was the loader tractor but that was 40 years ago. Your thoughts on the 'pretty' new equipment were great. Too bad there are many who don't use their head and buy. I personally think that's one of the biggest problems smaller farmers have is thinking they must have the latest greatest toys. If it's cheaper to use what you have and it works for you, no sense in changing it. Too many are going belly up because of all the new toys they thought they needed. it has to be hard enough to keep afloat as it is.
@10th Generation Dairyman - Hello and thank you for your videos. Do you have the cows' hooves trimmed as well? Or do you trim them yourself when needed?
That is a really cool way to keep the barns clean. Slats and then just pulling the manure into a port into the pit! I find it really cool to see how other dairy farms operate. Do you have to have pit fans in your milk cow barn to keep the ammonia levels down?
Where on Earth did you get that expandable gate? Holy Cow would that be handy! Nice calm cattle. Made me laugh when you said "doesn't always go that easy". 👍
Eric; would there be the use for a large sprayer? If you think so, what do you think it would cost? Like your chopper, what does he charge. Is there any custom sprayer in your area?
If it runs, it's good. The cows won't know the difference between a new tractor and an old tractor, as long as they get their feed and bedding, they're happy.
Adam Detwiler I’m a Windber native now living on a small homestead in Southeast Louisiana. I miss PA and the beautiful countryside. I guess that’s why I like his videos. Just wanted to say hi to an Altoona neighbor.
“We are really blessed..” How many people would look at the opportunity to work from before dawn to late in the evening doing hard, sometimes hazardous, smelly, muddy, dusty, cold, hot, rainy, snowy, dirty work as far as you can see into the future and call it a blessing? If it moos, milk it; if it is broken, fix it; if it smells, muck it out; if it grows, ensile it; if it is fallow, plant it. And start all over again. Being wealthy is having a good situation is life, and knowing it. Some people play the FARMVILLE computer game, you live the real thing.
Great to see the new technology, but they were planting corn for 100s of years with older equipment. I guess if you can be finished with planting or harvesting in a shorter amount of time, some people see it as worth the money. Most of the time to growing corn is watching it grow...and watching your equipment sit and get older too.
I notice that everything is covered in mud and or poo and inside some of the have tons of spiderwebs. Does it ever bother you that everything is always dirty? Also do the cows go out to pasture in the spring and summer? Thanks for the info!
I'm not sure your expectations are very realistic. I would say our farm is pretty clean, always room for improvement though. Some of our animals get pasture during the nice times of the year. They actually like it inside during the summer though because we have fans and water sprinklers and clean beds. We put a lot of effort in to keep our animals happy and comfortable and I think we do a decent job. Thanks
I agree you do a great job. I was not meaning anything bad by my comments and I hope they were not taken that way. What I should have said was that it looks like you have a dirty job. I just thought that maybe there was a time where you maybe you got tired of having to clean stuff up all the time. It seems like a huge part of the job. I am not sure how to say it so my question does not sound bad.
We used to run shlagel closing wheels like that. They do ok but I would never buy them again if I had the choice. (They get lots of rocks in them and root balls in rye stubble) Go with cooperhead furrow cruisers or yetter poly twisters.
Well said enjoy the things you have what you don't said and be thankful you got a full belly and a roof over your head I remember when I was a kid we had no food and slept in a car dad was in the military and back then military didn't pay shit
💓I was as taught by my parents if you want something you Save your money then you can buy it if you can’t pay cash you can’t have it... I never brought the item I’d saved for as a teenager💓
Eric. You’re the best of American farming. Good, kind to the animals, hard working, etc. Love your videos.

Awesome, thankful is a wonderful way to look at life. Enjoy your time you spend with us all.
As a city kid(Boston) I am in awe of your work ethics and devotion to the job. YOU are what America is all about. Best wishes, God bless.
Such wisdom about being satisfied with what you have. God has blessed you and your family....
Your comments at the end of the video are so spot-on. It's difficult to keep it at the front of our minds, but we are better off than many other people in the world. And I did need the reminder. Thank you.

Thanks for the video at the farm show! Every year I want to go, but never seem to have time.
Interesting content I'm a dairy farmer from new Zealand and was very intrigued by the way you guys farm very interesting. Cheers mate👍
I've actually been to New Zealand. Really nice country! Saw some dairy farms there, looked a bit different than around here. Thanks for watching.
I've visited alot of crappy dairy farms with my dad and all i can say is, those are good moments to experience it lets you see what you have isn't all that bad. Great vid 👍👍

Coolest videos ever! Can’t get enough!!
I enjoyed the farm show. I've caught a few trains in my day hauling farming equipment. Mostly CASE trains. 🌱🚜🇺🇸
You have a great attitude, you are upbeat and positive.
Well said. More young people like you and even us old farts need to think that way
The PA Farm Show in Harrisburg is a really great way to start the New Year. This year it starts on the 4th of January and ends on the 12th. Te Deum Laudemus.
i like that you care about your cows. first iv e heard about a specal needs pen. like the hoof care too. good job
Special needs pen/ sick cow pen is fairly common place
They need to be separated from the rest of the herd especially if they are on medication. They still need to be milked but you don’t want that milk mixed in with the good milk.
Well said at the end. Words to live by
I Learned something today, I never knew they had generators that ran off of a PTO, of course i am not a farmer either , thanks for sharing
You really should make a list of everything you don't know yet so you can just tick them off one one without advertising yourself.

Yeah it's really cool

Just saw your channel on instagram and I can say I’ll be watching every video. Good quality videos
"Believe it or not this tractor is not really that nice." Glory!!!!
I'm jealous you still have the lid on your glove box? We used a 2840 to scrape barnyards until transmission went out fixed it and traded it off!
I was at the keystone show tue. I love that show its so much better then the farm show. I live about 30 miles north of Harrisburg.
It was the first time going to the keystone farm show for me this year with my FFA chapter, and I am defiantly going next year haha.. Always nice to see the newest technology
Showed up in my suggested videos area! Lookin' great. Subbed.

Thanks for sharing! Very informative! Love ur videos! What happened to all the manure after u scrape it into to hole in the ground????
Were those cows welding helmets osha approved🤣🤣awesome video
great video, how many hours do you work on the farm
Wise beyond your years!
Great comments at the end of the video. Perspective is so hard to keep in these days. How many do you milk? How many heifers do you keep?
A PA Guy who does a great job on the farm.
@10th Generation Dairyman - Hello and thank you for your videos. Do you have the cows' hooves trimmed as well? Or do you trim them yourself when needed?
Just found your channel, saw you were from southern pa I used to milk in lancaster
Great videos keep up the great work. You sub numbers are going to start going up
wow...there's some awesome machinery at the show! :)
Just got to your channel.nice job..
Pa farms gave you a shout out and sent me over here. Nice content ,I just subbed.
🤗🐄farming means being a jack of all trades
Blessed!
2:18 what model is that?
That is a really cool way to keep the barns clean. Slats and then just pulling the manure into a port into the pit! I find it really cool to see how other dairy farms operate. Do you have to have pit fans in your milk cow barn to keep the ammonia levels down?
We put a bacteria product in the pit to help with gases. Don't have any issues with it
very mature train of thought at the end of the video :)
Thanks for sharing what are you using for bedding material
Wood shavings
What's that bedding spreader deal you have?
The brand is Woodchuck. Really good machine
Where on Earth did you get that expandable gate? Holy Cow would that be handy! Nice calm cattle. Made me laugh when you said "doesn't always go that easy". 👍
That barn was built maybe 40 years ago so I'm not sure. Pretty handy though!
Yes!!! That gate is perfect!
Great content. Except for the Semex hat. Select Sires is so much better. 😊
Might want to check the evaporator for the compressor, looked like some water came out of the air chuck. Thumbs Up..!
Serious question: What happens to all that stuff you scraped down that hole? Where does it go?
It all goes to a lagoon (pond full of cows sh*t). And I think that later they will spread it on the fields as a fertilizer.
May god bless u
Eric; would there be the use for a large sprayer? If you think so, what do you think it would cost? Like your chopper, what does he charge. Is there any custom sprayer in your area?
If it runs, it's good.

Abba2 well hello neighbor I’m more from the Huntingdon Tyrone area of Altoona though 😂
How many horse power is the tractor with with the rear scrapper?
Watching from uk dairy farmer
Are u from Iowa?

lidsman22 Oh ok, yeah it is a lot of cleaning things up and it never ends. I guess I'm just used to it by now. Pretty dirty compared to most jobs
What are the dimensions of your dry cow barn? Looks like a simple set up
Are you saying "Drag cow barn" or "Dry cow barn" ?
Dry cow
I was there on Wednesday what day did you go?
Tuesday
@@10thgenerationdairyman I was there on Wednesday
Good work Young Man..! How's the chocolate milk?
Good video ! Is that a 1020 jd you scrape pens with? I spent a lot of time moving hay on my uncles 1020 jd with a 37 loader.
It's a 1520
How many milk cows do you have and the outher cows
We used to run shlagel closing wheels like that. They do ok but I would never buy them again if I had the choice. (They get lots of rocks in them and root balls in rye stubble) Go with cooperhead furrow cruisers or yetter poly twisters.
Yes don't let that demon control your mind .god know your needs and it will be there when you need it .pray and stay content.
Saw your link from PA farms!! Loving the videos from a PA wannabe farm girl!
Why do you use the tractor for scraping this barn and the skid steer for others?
5:01 Cow No.634 PhotoBombing :)
5:02 did anyone else see the way that cow looked at him?
I cannot believe how small the crowd was at the Ag Show!
