So love learning so many of the things involved with running a successful dairy farm/business. You and your dad run a prime operation!! You should be most proud of the work you do. I know as an avid milk and dairy product consumer, I am honestly glad there are folks like you who care about what you do. Love from Michigan.
U're awesome guy, i live in Russia, and really jealous that in my country people can not have such grear business, as your family does... TRUST me, u live the happiest life, than many many people!!!
Thanks Eric Great video as always. I hope a lot of folks eyes are opened to what it takes to be a dairy farmer and the work. Thanks Man! My respect and admiration.
I had no idea the amount of time and preparation there is in dairy cows. Thank you for having this channel and including your work and your Dad’s - I think it’s an eye opener on how hard farmers work to provide us with food and milk!!!!
Thanks Eric, I could smell the cow shit. I'm limited mobility, I had bottle calves, and I enjoyed the scene. I especially like the high quality of the breeding program you have achieved. Your farm is small in comparison to others, but you know how careful you need to be to stay ahead of the profit game. Watching the videos is like going home.
Thanks for the awesome video about milk testing day!! Looked like your LDHIA technician was doing a super job 😁 (she always does 😊) Thank you for your efforts to educate the public about the dairy industry!!
Look forward to these! That was great thanku! It's truly a blessing to have a great interesting show that you don't have to worry about being surprised by something bad or stupid. Me and my son usually watch it together.
Great presentation Eric. Yea I fondly recall how my Dad used to say that their heard of milking cows had a high butter fat content, that the local milk truck would wait in barn the yard for them to finish milking (always by hand). Dad was proud of their dairy,,, glad you explained the milk testing. It was a different procedure with the 20 quart milk cans, maybe they may have tested each individual can. That dairy operation had to be stopped in the winter of 1952. (That gives you an idea of my age) From your 132 K subscribers it would seem that you have a very diverse demographic for a viewing audience. It's young farmers like you that will keep our country great. nose to the grind stone-full speed ahead !!!
I’ve been following Seth ever since your first shout out, I love Seth’s laugh. No matter how depressed I may get you guys always lift my spirits! I’m so thankful God led me to you Seth, Cole the cornstar and Saskdutchkid. I made a mistake several days ago after watching videos from all of you and I called Jan (aka Saskdutchkid ) Seth, I was so embarrassed. I hope he wasn’t offended. Just encase I haven’t explained I have ptsd and have severe depression. I hope you guys realize how much you help me and people like me.
So in the grand scheme of things, what do you enjoy more-working on the stuff that goes into the cows, or dealing with the stuff that comes out of the cows. Nice to see a piece focusing on the end goal of your efforts.
Thank you for sharing these content data, not many do. Impressive yield, I was surprised by the "low content" with your feed ration but yield and content go together. Milking here with a dual-purpose breed (milk/beef) which deliver lower yields of 7700kg/year but 4.49% fat and 3.8% protein per cow; The lower kg yields are mostly offset by higher content (cheesemaking only so protein is paid much better) and higher value at end of life+calfs. We follow the urea content of milk to determine optimum triticale/grass/maize feed combination. Nice to see these tru-testers as well, we use an older verion. This is the beauty of farming, everybody does it in their way which fits best. Unlike factories there is no perfect optimum, we live with nature and its limits in the best way possible, no easy solution for all, but each is different depending on climate, ground, history, etc. Keep on going!
Wow not much room on back alley new Holland tight fit when coming off that cross ilse. 94 lbs congratulations you guys work hard and seem to take the time to do that little extra that really shows in the tank keep up the good work
What a modern Farm and Modern agricultural machinery you have but we still using old agriculture technique.Very informative video and please make videos regularly
Hi Eric, Great video! I do watch Seth's videos, he's a really great guy with great video content. Just like you Eric and your channel! I always look forward to your next one!
Well Hi been checking the last few days seemed like it’s been forever since the last video!! Loved the video yes a clean barn looks nice. Good to see everything is going smoothly 🌞
Awesome videos, it's amazing how hard you guys work, to provide all of us with milk. You should start a work program, so guys like me could work on your farm for a week, in order to get the full experience.
Excelents videos I'm from Spain and I really enjoy your videos I start watching your channel last and I learn lot of things from u Also I LOVE farms and animals Wish you the best with the Channel and sorry if my english is not too good
Informative as always. Global Warming affecting winter weather temperatures prevents sh*t from sticking to walls. Astounding! Someone buy this man a Mountain Dew.
Buon giorno sempre bellissimi video. Ti guardo dall' Italia ( Europa). ed anche io sono una allevatrice di vacche. Bravo e buona fortuna per il tuo futuro.
Had to convert your pound average to kilograms up here in Canada. Great average. Works out to 1.69 kgs/fat/cow/day. We aren’t quite there. 1.59. Good video.
Hey looks like you need so.e curtain help! I'm pretty sure the company I work for is installing your new curtains. Hopefully I can see you next week. Really enjoy watching you work smarter not harder.
In my country we have fully automated cow milkers that the cows decide when they want to be milked and no human labor required. And the weather in my country is a very cold so we have pretty small farms compared to yours. Love your videos man.
Thanks for the good video Eric! Liked "pretty is relative" That was good! Will check out your friend's channel. Take care until next video! Mark from OHIO
Ah, I remember doing this, it was not my favorite time of month. The person that did ours was not very fast and liked to talk a lot, as well as everybody seemed to vanish.
Really like Your channel. Things have changed since My Grandparents farmed in the 60's. Like the way You explain what and why, showing My Grandkids so they understand where milk comes from. Keep up the good work.
Really good video, love the whole DHIA connection, and all the checks and balances involved. Can't wait for the next numbers on the heifer. Would she be a daughter off that 50lb older cow? Please keep us apprised. Love numbers, thanks, gotta go check out farmer on the prairie.
Trying to milk the cows I kind of miss doing this don’t miss getting up that early in the morning but do you miss the one on one time with the cows and getting ready for milking did this for 25 years So I took some getting used to not having to do it thanks for sharing brings back a lot of memories God bless
Interesting to see that your new "Milking Parlour" is based on the herringbone style, most new builds for "Cow Sheds" in New Zealand are based on the rotary milking platform, with automatic cup removal systems. Guess there are reason why things are different. / N.Z. dairying is mainly a seasonal (Spring to Autumn) grass fed system of farming.
I am new to your channel & you probably have already covered these…~ You should say Hey good morning, this is Eric in Pennsylvania. Some of the milk looked pretty white, while some looked yellow.!??
We also do tests once a month here in Denmark. We also preg check the cows that way. The lab measure the hormones in the milk and can that way figure out if they're bred or not :)
Hi Eric I am catching up looking at your videos this one was highly educational I learned a lot from listening to you I said in the past you are quite a good teacher I found it to be very interesting and how many pounds of Milk The cow would give thank you so much for sharing the video 👍🇺🇸
really enjoy your videos, i never realized how much work went into a gallon of milk. why do they buy milk by the pound and sell to the public by the gallon
I remember first memories of my grandfather milking and having to dump the milk into buckets from the milking can. Then carrying the buckets to the cooler. Don't think I ever saw him put in a central type of system. Uncle on the other had had a central system that collected each milker and sent it to the cooler. Best thing I remember about my uncle was ... his milking stool. Little stool with 1 leg .... Belted to his butt. Looked like a bee when he walked around. If he'd worn yellow and black .... He could have completed the look.
I love this channel. It is reassuring to know there are people dedicated to this profession. I have a city-slicker question. I noticed during the sampling operation that cows apparently always go to their appointed milk-stall. How do you train a new cow on where they are to go? I appreciate how much work you do just getting the camera in different locations to show us the complete picture too! Makes for very interesting views.
Cows that go into the parlor for the first time are a little hesitant, but they follow the more experienced cows and quickly learn that the milking process is routine. With 3 times a day milking, it may take only 2-3 days to fully adapt. They learn that after milking, fresh feed awaits in their pen, so they are looking forward to the milking and going back to clean pens and fresh feed. While they don't have a specific stall to go in, they may have a preference for entering the parlor among the first, middle or last "batch". I have also noticed that some cows prefer left or right side of the parlor.
@@hugoramirez763For all the people who think robot milkers are such a hot idea, you have given the best example of why a person is important in the dairy barn. Knowing and caring about the cows and what their behavior means is important. The cows are giving their best and the farmer should make sure that he gives the best back to them.
Thank you for the shout-out. I really appreciate it. I hope you guys like my channel! Let me know what you think.
You're welcome man!
Two of my favorite farmers, this means it’s going to be a good day! Stay safe guys
Thank you Eric and Seth for all you do!

I don't know why but I find your channel very interesting on the dairy side of things. Keep up the good work.
I love the honest, "mater of fact" way every problem or need is handled.

You deserve a TV show where you host and executive produce man, this is gold.
