- Yukon is GMC's full size SUV and they have a new top luxury trim called the Denali Ultimate. On the outside you will discover a new paint color, 22in wheels, unique grill and automatic running boards. On the inside you will be greeted by a ton of leather, massage seats and panoramic roof. Under the hood is a 6.2L V8 mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2024 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate a BETTER luxury SUV than a Cadillac Escalade?

I leased my 2021 Denali, and at the end of the lease the buyout was 47k I had to buy it! ... its a Wonderfull travel vehicle. I can't let it go

@@kromahj I have a Yukon with diesel engine and I also drive the Silverado with the 6.2 and the duramax engine is way way less thirsty.

We have a 2024 Denali Ultimate. It's black but in the sun looks dark purple. It's beautiful. Everything he said is true. It floats down the road and will pass anything... it's so powerful. We LOVE it.
Finally pulled the trigger for one of these and I freaking love it. I just swap the engine for the diesel duramax.
GM nailed this color. I've seen it in sunlight. It pops all day long.
Now, GMC needs to add this Ultimate trim to all the other models. I much prefer the darker chrome and the brown leather. Bright chrome is out!

Enjoyed your review. 3 months ago, I bought the Denali XL Ultimate. I have loved these big GM SUV’s and wanted another one. The last one I had was an Escalade, loved it, but the new one is just”over the top “. Too much blacked out trim, too much electronic flash and touch screen, etc. It lost functionality for “look at me style “. The Denali Ultimate is so tasteful, with sensible controls and identical content and $10-15k less. I also got the diesel, it feels plenty powerful, very quiet (invisible) and has averaged 21.5 around town, 26mpg at 75+ on the interstate! I can’t believe this enormous luxury beast is one of the most economical vehicles I have ever owned! This is really an amazing modern vehicle.
This engine will last!! Build quality looks great, not to mention the color and wheels! This vehicle is worth making payments on!

Just traded off my ‘21 Yukon Denali for the ‘24 Denali Ultimate… luv the upgrades on the electronics, air ride, magnetic ride and Super Cruise. You can swap out the name badges for black ones for a reasonable price. Really dig the Vader Chrome grill. I liked the Escalade but prefer the interior of the Denali over the Cadillac. All hard buttons better than burying functions in the infotainment screen. Love the super cruise!

You can see the 2025 refresh out now. I bought a 2024 Ultimate because I like the front end better than the 2025. Also inside your getting the “giant iPad “ info system. I like the smaller one to be honest. The rims get bigger if you can believe that.

I agree with your review completely! I just bought a 2024 Yukon Ultimate, I also like the Yukon over the Escalade. I think the interior of the Yukon is top notch! I am a big sports fan the interior reminds me kinda like a baseball glove brown :) I do love the Vader chrome! Super cruise is awesome! Only thing I haven’t used or trust is the self parking….. not sure I trust that.
Always had a soft spot for the Denali, the short version though. If I win the Lotto Ill get one lol.

The Denali always looked better to me. This body style really does. And for about $15k-$20k less with the same level and quality of luxury, it's a win.

Nothing beats the Cadillac. That’s why there is a saying that goes….. “It’s the Cadillac of all _______” and you fill in the blank with the item that is considered to be the best. Example…. This is the Cadillac of all cooking grills. You don’t hear….Thats the GMC of all cooking grills. With that being said….we just bought the 2024 Denali…..we love it. Only thing is, we get a rough sounding start up, but warms up and it goes away. I wish the salesperson showed us more of the items on the dashboard…..but it’s also fun to figure out new things every time you drive. I love the windshield heads up display of what the speed limit of the road you’re driving on is.

It's funny to me how automotive paint colors seem to run in cycles. Back in 1972 my Dad bought a new Ford LTD in this minty green metallic color, which was quite popular back then, but hasn't been seen for quite some time. It seems like at least the last decade, or even longer, has been dominated by black, white, grey, and silver, with very few other colors featured. It's nice to see something "fresh" and different!
I mean at least the GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate still has a V8, Thanks General Motors. And TQ Joe for reviewing this full-size Luxury SUV. Im planning to get one before all the V8s go extinct😅

So when I went to order my 2024 Yukon they said summer of 2024 they would start producing them. FYI there is a front end change and interior change. I love the 2024 look better than the 2025 version.

No . Escalade are one of the better looking cars period . Pure class and authenticity unlike MB/BMW (all look the same) 😅
By the way, the lower grill ventilation it’s easy to be opened all it has just cover from inside. You can take it off. That’s what I did with my escalate for extra ventilation.

Love this SUV .. took it on 2600 miles road trip Miami to Wash DC, 10 hour stints behind the wheel no problem …. As if sitting on my living room lounger. can’t say that for any of my 5 BMWS where I get seat bottom cramps on halfway Miami to Naples, FL. I averaged 18 MPG IF IF IF I go easy feathering the throttle. Not much fun on the twisties ..
2 trips to Florida and I’m very happy with the ride 10 hours a day,no problem

Thank you for another excellent review Joe. I love the color, I would say for the price the 2 things it lacks and for the price should have, are 2nd row ventilated seats and second row window shades both of which the Escalade have.

I just traded my Navigator L for the Denali Ultimate XL. Hands down the Ultimate is superior in every way. Quietness, ride, fit & finish, Super Cruise is way more confident than the Bluecruise.

@@BigBadAllisI think the Yukon has a lot more road presence and is much more commanding on the road than the Lincoln too. I’m not quite sure what it is. The GMC looks well put together and almost intimidating in the wild. The refresh will be interesting.

My current Tahoe needed a new motor after the lifters on the AFM cylinders failed. The 6.2 and the 5.3 both have the same issue. I am leaning towards the Duramax because of this, but all the emissions controls on the Duramax are not good for the motor.
Looks really nice and I would pick this over the Escalade. The Escalade too boujee for me plus will save money to buy the air mattress and mini fridge you mentioned.

The new AT4 305HP Diesel is the best engine you can buy today in America! Given Cadillac ditched Diesels from 2025, I would go for the Denali AT4 as the bet combo of effciency, torque, comfort and luxury!

17+ years rocking the same 6.2 engine. Sure…it was terrific in 2007. However, like most of GM products and their development, their best days continue to be behind them. Innovation always trailing the competition.
I can’t deny the awesome looks in the GMC, Escalade and the Chevy. Hard to decide.My only gripe is others lately been speaking about reliability which come short, and some others been going turning to a reliable Toyota Sequoia.if only there was more review on performance reliability. It will costs in the long run.

Some people have to fit the groceries, their kids, and all of their gear between the backseat and trunk space of a Nissan Versa.

It’s nice but I wouldn’t trade my Escalade for a Denali. Escalade grill, lights and screen are better. The Escalade will always be the boss big sister.

Maybe when i turned 65 years old I'll be able to afford this. I'm 45 now. If i was able to work still I'll go get one. But being on disability no way i can afford it now. But I've always loved GMC DENALI XL.
