Class video as always! so glad to see the Saxo is still alive!
Cheers laa!
Oh no! Anyway…
On a serious note mate, hope you get all this sorted out and get her back up and running properly.
All sorted mate😁
@@MattysCars good to hear mate 😄
Sir, those clips on the bus were a bit scary... That Saxo has managed to cling on for dear life for a really long time. I actually remember when this incident happened as well!
If ever there was an advert to have a car... She's had her problems but this was the first big job
@@MattysCars , yes indeed, sir!
Right now, I am dailying a 2003 Saxo Desire. Never a car I either wanted or particularly liked, it was just bought during lockdown after my last car had a bad MOT fail and in January 2021 it was literally the only cheap car locally I could buy and drive away the same day. In the past I was a bit into Rover Metros. Had 3 of them, all dirt cheap at the time. Last one bought in 2008 which was pretty tidy but suffered an HGF (well a K series would wouldn't it?). Balked at the £400 quote to fix and decided it had to go. Struggled to find a scrappy who would take it away for free. Almost 15 years on, worst decision I ever made. These days no one is buying a dailyable Metro for less than a few grand. Whatever I sunk into that head gasket at the time I'd get back in dividends now if I hadn't have scrapped the car. Can't claim to have had huge amounts of initial love for my Sax, but it seems pretty much a certainty that it has doubled in value in 2 years (paid £500 for it, pretty sure with a new MOT it's now a £1000 car minimum), and I do think they might be the next Metro in that within the next 5 years decent condition, reliable, MOT holding runners will become very rare and they'll be worth a bit. If you've got a decent MOT'd running Sax now, I'd say hold on to it and whilst you wouldn't want to throw good money after bad equally that HG job or that £300 MOT might well be worth doing whereas a few years ago you'd just scrap the thing. Don't want to daily mine much longer but I have no plans to sell it.
Completely agree! I'm gonna keep mine on while I can
No no oh shit not the Saxo I love her she is a beautiful car my Nan had a 2003 white saxo desire it was so lovely I miss her
I have a saxo from 1998 and i made some jobs to it. Once i was on the highway and out of nowhere, the engine started to make a lot of noise like i was at 6k rpm, but I was not. Then, when I stopped, i saw the exhaust wabling up and down😂😂😂
I went back home. i was scared but the sound was very nice to hear
Linked here from Daniel Drives, bus clips ROFL, subscribed :)
Glad you enjoyed mate!
i have 2 106s because i want to keep one however i dont want to get rid of either of them now, both aren't prefect but i know if my headgasket was to relieve itself all over my engine bay i'd be way too tempted to vtr or vts swap it and become a grade A yobbo
I need a sporty Saxo at some point to release full chav mode
Head gasket went on me when I owned that saxo too. Was on the M62 near Warrington and the AA never came. Got towed . Apologies for the boy racer stickers 😂
Another piece of the puzzle revealed by the previous owner. Don't worry about the boy racer stickers I was more concerned about the union jack on the mirror was that one of yours??
@@MattysCars it looked good when I was 17. Have you found the switch under the dash to turn the fan on? Was a fault with the ECU and the fan wouldn't turn on when it got to temperature
Oh my dad had a Citroen saxo a yellow one it’s a 1.6 vtr oh it leaked oil like you wouldn’t believe and the gasket had gone as well
Luckily I stopped in time. Car was misfiring but stopped before too much damage was done
@@MattysCars oh good is she ok now
@@rhysswildlifeanimalsandmor9903 All good now mate
@@MattysCars ok cool
Hope it's fixable. Been a great car hasn't it. Doesn't mean that I can't have a thrash in one when I start driving. That SEAT at the end looks ace 👌.
She got sorted in the end. That's what I was saying when I was next to the Seat but you can't hear it😂
Oh yeah I just realised that bit 😂🤣
Hi Matt. Can't find the thread, but update us all on the Saxo. We're an anxious nation now kid. 😁
Watch till the end😁
Hi mate just out of curiosity did they do the compression test on the head before analysing the issue?
I have a similar issue on my Saxo 1.1 desire for us it wasn’t a head gasket
The red light stays on my temperature gauge and my fan stays on as the water isn’t circulating properly. It still runs and can drive it to the shop and back.
I have purchased a water pump changed the coolant temperature sensors relays. If no joy I’m looking at a radiator after.
That’s a great price of £200 to get it done considering the price of the head gasket set is cheap on carparts4less
Great video
Keep the Saxo knock the rovers and MG’s off as they have a rubbish head unless you get the Elring upgraded gaskets
Regards
Jax
Hey mate yeah the AA man did a compression test at the scene and was pretty sure but not 100% it was head gasket. The temperature sensor and themrostat had already been changed in the past but the garage it was towed to confirmed it was HG. Since it's been changed it's ran great
Save! Will be worth good money in future
You'll be happy with the result
Don’t get a rover 25 my aunt had one and it was really bad and it kept having £300 plus faults all the time
Well that’s a load of rubbish, they’re amazing cars and I love them so much, I had one as my first car and I always knew I would have one as my first car and did 13,000 miles in it and all those 13,000 miles were perfect and so pleasurable to have that beautiful and amazing car for two years.
Y-Reg Austin Ambassador gets my vote :)
So glad someone is in the know about John Shuttleworth!
Get a brava actually they are really sick I didn’t realise you wanted one
I think you should sell it for parts but it would cost more to repair than just to buy another one altogether
😰😰😰😰
You’ve not got the beamer still then?
I have but it's for sale
Time to get a new car
Not yet!
You should buy a Nissan Micra K11 😂 also sorry to hear it
I'd love a K11 pre facelift!
@@MattysCars i want one with the “granny’s slippers” seats
How old are you sir

Poor girl

Would love a shaking that ass megane at some point. Future classic mark my words
