@@94sweetgoats52Agreed, although it is unfortunate that the channels focus has veered far away from the ancient astrology and towards the new form, although granted it does work with the same bodies on a similar sort of horoscope.
As interesting as harmonic or vibrational astrology can be, ultimately it's not the ancient art developed over millennia.
Though I do love his work and do draw on it and apply it in traditional astrology when I can.

It might be worthwhile covering the types of people who would be drawn to astrology, just like how athletes have their own astrological influences. Ayurveda and the simple breakdown of the doshas of an individual, as well as the gunas, point out many extremely important and indicative things about a persons inclination towards astrology, or anything, for that matter. I have learnt from experience when it's appropriate to speak about astrology, but certainly not around a tamasic earthy/airy character. As we all know, saying this as an absolute is just waiting for the exception to the rule, but it is true

    • @VicDiCaraAstrology

It’s true they really don’t care enough about it and just want a quick stamp of “officially disproven.” However we could rightfully be criticized in just the reverse. Very few people involved in astrology really know much about logic or scientific method, and mostly because they don’t think it’s worth the effort.

The "all swans are white" argument is a specific example of "The problem of induction." I am not aware of all the literature on this topic, however I personally believe that it is a lot thornier than most care to admit or even consider. The very issue here is most things that dress themselves in the clothing of deduction are actually induction. Except perhaps mathematics and then we have the issue of "Gödel's completeness theorem" and what that means philosophically for the field of mathematics and deductive reasoning.
My argument is simple things work fine until they don't. Not sure if that is profound or just self evident.

Appealing to authority here, but I'm a Ph.D. in Social Science who has been studying astrology for a couple decades and who derives from a practiced family who has all used it for centuries. I don't believe science is capable of containing the vastness of astrology. Astrology came before modern science and thus exceeds it. Science is best used for fixed things we can observe and see. Soft science (social science) gets the same bad reputation from hard science communities because "science" largely fails to make sense of changeable, immaterial phenomena. (I should be clear that the hard and soft dichotomy doesn't relate to how difficult subjects are. It relates to how fixed observable phenomena are. Soft phenomena are difficult to pin down and predict, whereas hard phenomena are easy to pin down and predict.) Astrology is soft if we attempt to fit it into the science world. And even if we come up with some results, we'll forever be trying to scientize a spiritual field that doesn't need scientization. We don't have to prove anything to "scientists," and we don't need to validate astrology's significance. They'll catch on someday. By that point, we'll be well ahead, as with most things: meditation, therapy, fasting, and so on. (I should say: the former points on meditation, therapy, fasting -- all stem from learned spiritual practice.)

agreed, I understand where the scientist come from; their fear of something that isnt an absolute is very valid considering the multitude of wack jobs who have used spirituality to nefarious ends. They just dont seem to understand that their own position can be just as psychotic. Perfect example, if the birthrates are plumeting, would Rape then be valid? Can get more hard numbers then that and reading pat buchanians Death of the West, he basically was eluding to a state "incentivized" Breeding Program.

What people need to understand also is that scientific validity, what it means and how is obtained is a subject matter of debate among the sciences themselves precisely for the complications that arise from variables previously unaccounted for like Vic explains here with astrology. As a psych student I can tell you psychology has fought with tooth and claw for it. Famously Karl's other example was psychoanalysis Now I am not going to sit here and play devil's advocate with Sigmund Freud of all people, but I do mean to point out that science itself is often troubled about the question of validity, specially outside of the strictly natural sciences like physics. Because of the difficulties of applying the classical method outside of controlled lab conditions. Social science is often the prey of constant epistemological critique from armchair "people of science" that don't understand how hard epistemology is and complex the search for answers. In short science is not a monolith and sometimes they themselves don't know what they are talking about. But that's the fun of it being an open task as Einstein used to call it.
