Dathan Ritzenhein has been one of my favorite distance runners for years! He was in the all star high school era of Alan Webb and Ryan Hall and company.
Admiral attempt to do drills, but again we still have the best distance runners in the US not understanding how to do running drills. The understanding of why we do them is vastly improved from 5 years ago. Nice job Dathan!
Going to try doing this several times a week if not every day other than my rest days. "The concept is that you want to make the distance runner look as much like a sprinter as much as possible because those are the most efficient running mechanics that there are"
this is a dynamic WARMUP dathan ritzenhein is a fucking badass and has more pain endurance than 99.999 percent of people on this planet, when he was in high school he ran 110 miles a week
This is such a small but very important step in running. How about mile repeats with 2 1/2 minute rest in-between at 5 min pace? Also these elite runners go through intense weight training along with two runs a day. Plodding style? I dont think so.

im a longtime mma fan since the Pridefc days....some mma guys got good cardio but most of them gassed as early as the 1st round its pathetic....its a demanding sport but you guys should try what you call 1 dimensional skinny fit.....
It strikes me how very low intensity this training is compared to the stuff we do in MMA, for example intense bursts of crawling up hills, jumping, sprinting and so on with virtually no stops. This plodding style excrcise you guys do is kinda old fashioned 1 dimensional 'skinny' fit.

Thanks, Dathan! These are great....do you also do strength training for the legs or does that negatively affect your turnover?
skinny fit? can you run sub 4 in a mile? not trying to gain muscle in distance running...
These drills are designed for long distance runners.
I want to know
how many times a week should I do that.
I'm running 5 times a week.
Sorry, the reply was intended for the MMA guy. Not sure how it got to you.

If I did these on a track alone with people watching, they would think I was a wierdo.

How dear, how simple minded.

Dont forget to tuck your thumbs (if youre not a nerd like me you wont get it :P) jk Big ups to Dathan repping the US hard.
"it'll help you become less prone to injury" - like that top runner famed for his durability dathan ritzenhein...ahem.

Richard Butler race me and we'll see
These are to improve your running technique, not the actual workout that endurance runners do.
