something though that can scare the hell out of person that has visions and lived by what his visions say is going past a point were he had no visions. It's possible Jojen will be killed or has ALREADY been killed, but I never saw the "Jojen paste" as strong proof of this.
They tell him it's made of weirwood paste; the "red veins" are weirwood sap. This is why the faces on the trees are always seen crying "blood" -- it's just the color of their sap.
I think this might be another case of GRRM throwing us a red herring. Bloodraven wouldn't risk upsetting Bran this early on into their training by killing his friends.

" Bloodraven wouldn't risk upsetting Bran this early on into their training"
Bloodraven, as far as I can tell, would risk anything if it's necessary for his plan (consider what he's already put Bran through). Therein lies the crucial issue: if it's not necessary, then he most likely wouldn't. If it is necessary, then he will do it in a heartbeat.

It should be noted that the emphasis on darkness isn't necessarily a reference to "evil". In fact, it seems that it means just what it seems at face value; actual literal darkness. Sensory depravation is directly linked to the awakening of psychic ability in ASoIaF.
Bran's warging potential is awakened when he's in his coma; when he is, effectively, in darkness. His and Rickon's abilities are further enhanced during their time in the crypts; when they're in darkness. Bran begins to reach his full potential when he spends time in the cave with Bloodraven; in darkness. Arya learns to warg only after being blinded by the Faceless men; when she lives in darkness. Aeron's spiritual awakenings take place only once he is held captive in dungeons; when he's in darkness.
I could go on, but I think you get the point. Sure, it may seem sketchy at first glance, but when compared to everything else we see in ASoIaF, Bloodraven's words can really only mean one thing. Darkness will make Bran strong, because when he cannot see he is *forced* to open his "third eye", awakening and strengthening his psychic abilities.

    • @blub3rry116
      @blub3rry116 5 лет назад +19

and yet these still could all be bad things. Good for survival, yes, but potentially bad for humanity, if you believe (and there is strong evidence for this) that the three-eyed-raven is the Great Other, the darkness, that wants to destroy humanity. That uses human ability (like individuality, greenseeing, warging, violence, etc) to get humans to make misguided decisions through visions and peers, that could lead to humanity's self destruction. So in people's darkest moments, what seems to be a "what doesnt kill you makes you stronger" is really a "what doesnt kill you makes you a pawn in our game to help us kill you all"

Arya is having 'wolf dreams' long before she is blinded. But yes, it's at that point she learns to direct it through the stray cat to 'spy' on the kindly man when he beats her. Before that she was doing things by instinct more than design.

Blood raven killed his own uncle "to save the relm" when he was hand of the king a hundred years before game of thrones begins.. He's a one eyed basturd of a Targaryean king who used blood magic to warg into people and manipulate politics in kings landing when he was hand to the king.. When he killed his own uncle he was sent to the black cells under the red keep for over two decades to idle away in the dark to do God knows what by himself and when his sentence was up he was sent to the wall where he became Lord commander in a short period of time .. How does a guy who was in jail become Lord commander of the nights watch?.. Well it's Cuz he can warg into people and skin change and manipulate everything and anything.. Then one day he decided to go north to find the weir wood Internet tree that he lives in now to soy on everyone in Westeros and live and grow his greensear powers even more..

+Moejii Osman I'm not sure if that's a joke, but it's quite different from the story I remember:
      - I don't remember Bloodraven killing his uncle. I don't remember who his maternal uncles are, but the only paternal uncle I can remember is Prince Aemon the Dragonknight, and he wasn't killed by Bloodraven, as far as I know. He apparently killed his brother Daemon Blackfyre and his nephews, the twin sons of Daemon, during the 1st Blackfyre Rebellion.
      - I don't remember him using blood magic. People said a lot of things, but I don't remember it being a plausible thing. He probably was a skinchanger and probably knew how to use a glamour, but that doesn't mean he used blood magic.
      - He was sent to the black cells because he killed Daemon Blackfyre's son Aenys after telling him on behalf of the Iron Throne that he wouldn't be harmed.
      - He didn't spend two decades in the black cells. Aegon V had him imprisoned and then sent him to the Wall with Maester Aemon. It was not two decades. And his sentence wasn't up. Aegon simply sent him with his brother Aemon because he was a prisoner and prisoners sometimes are sent to the Wall, because their sentences are not up.
      I might be wrong though.

  • @juanpablomina1346

A couple of points to reinforce your arguments:
    - Bran actually calls Bloodraven a monster. Sure, he doesn't know him when he says it, but still, that's the vibe he got from his dreams and his time with Coldhands. Bran I, ADwD:
Meera's gloved hand tightened around the shaft of her frog spear. "Who sent you? Who is this three-eyed crow?"
"A friend. Dreamer, wizard, call him what you will. The last greenseer." The longhall's wooden door banged open. Outside, the night wind howled, bleak and black. The trees were full of ravens, screaming. Coldhands did not move.
    "A monster," Bran said.
    - Bran's not only doing all those morally dubious things you were talking about, he's also mind-raping Hodor. While controlling Hodor's body, he clearly feels that Hodor doesn't like it, but Bran wears his skin anyway:
The big stableboy never understood what was happening, and Bran could taste the fear at the back of his mouth. (Bran I, ADwD)
Like a dog who has had all the fight whipped out of him, Hodor would curl up and hide whenever Bran reached out for him. His hiding place was somewhere deep within him, a pit where not even Bran could touch him. (Bran III, ADwD)
Bran doesn't feel bad about using a person that has been nothing but loyal to him, even though said person doesn't like what Bran does. Someone who has carried him and accompanied in a very dangerous and uncomfortable journey. It's not that far from eating another loyal friend.
    Great video!

It took me a few rereads before I noticed, but you'll notice the passage identifies Bran as "Bran" and then switches to "Brandon." I think, "Brandon Stark could taste the blood." is referring to the sacrifice having his throat cut, not Bran the witness. I think there's a sort of proximity effect to the Weirwood visions, so not only is Bran seeing through the eyes of the tree, he is privy to the feelings and insights of those surrounding it at the time. There's a precedent for this in the other visions as well.
I'm not sure of the exact significance of the sacrifice obviously, but Bran the Builder is the most famous Brandon Stark, and given the line, "Your monster, Brandon Stark." line, I'm pretty sure we're seeing the creation of Coldhands.
I do subscribe to the Jojen Paste theory, though.

I think Bloodraven a little bit more complicated than just doing things for "his own interest" Like Varys and Melisandre, he believes that the ends justify the means and he ultimately works for the realm. He did bad things for the greater good as Hand of the King, as Lord Commander and I think he is doing that now to fight against the Others.

This is one of the major plot lines I can't wait to read about in WoW. It's scary that Old Nan told Bran "All Ravens Are Liars", and at the story of the long night, it was "the children" that helped (as Bran seemingly "remembers" how the story ended). Got to be planted information. I've re-read the series twice, and this is still a stand-out chapter because the "helpers" may be doing harm than good . I can't wait to read next chapter to see how this plot develops. Thanks for the vid, thoroughly enjoyed it.

I don't like the maligning of Bloodraven just because he's a freak. I don't think the Children or Bloodraven are planning on misusing Bran. Recall that this was all sanctioned by Howland Reed.
I always took the "darkness will be your cloak, your shield, your mother's milk," as BR encouraging Bran to accept his fate.
Further, this all occurs in the midst of Melisandre and the evil she does in the name of the Lord of Light. Darkness ain't so bad, is it?
Plus, I don't think that Summer would be calm and go out hunting if he sensed anything sinister about BR or tCotF. I don't think Summer would leave Jojen to his fate. I believe Bran would have been able to smell blood in that weirwood paste because his sense of smell is likely improved by warging Summer. Jon's sense of smell is improved by warging Ghost.

    • @blub3rry116

it makes more sense that the tree-people/raven are the bad guys for humanity, given the war they have with humans. The whole "let's defeat our common enemy, the whitewalkers" thing makes little sense, given that whitewalkers were SUPPOSED to end humanity and just failed. The reason i think tree-kids want the white walkers dead is because they cannot control the whitewalkers, and even if the whitewalkers killed humanity for them, the walkers would be too strong to be defeated by them (why defeat them? to have all the forests in westeros to themselves), so the better solution would seem to be to let the humans kill 'em all, then manipulate the humans into killing themselves through visions, crows, and manipulating circumstances (like getting an evil leader to kill people and/or lead people into ruin). in my opinion relating this back to religion, since religion plays a huge part in the world, my theory is a common one, which is that there is/are no true god/gods, and that anyone with any abilities that seem otherworldly are just good at magic, or gifted enough to use it. It makes it likely that the red priestesses visions in the flames that tell them about a chosen one and a Great Other who rules the darkness could be referring to someone like jon snow, a potentially just ruler who could defeat the TRUE darkness, and the three-eyed-raven who is a manipulating cult-serving skele-corpse-tree who loves darkness oh so much, would be the Great Other who serves the darkness, an anti-human tree loving asshole. And the reason this makes sense in religious context is that it doesnt matter if any other gods like the many-faced god, the god of death, the drowned god, the god of tits and wine, the seven, the old gods, etc seem to answer prayers or deliver magical results. It's all just magic, unconnecting to any god. And if that's true, that there is only magic and no gods, no ones visions or prophesies or spells or anything could be discounted by an argument like "yeah but didnt you see how legit the many-faced god seems to be? that must be the true god, making all of this tree conspiracy prophecy nonsense somewhat bullshit"

There's something in the somber tone of the narration and the horrifying subject of cannibalism and blood sacrifices (along with the colouration used in the visuals) that makes this analysis particularly disturbing to me. Doesn't help that I watched this at night either. I'm not usually such a wimp when it comes to horror, I *love" horror, but the idea of a young boy being guided by someone much older and wiser but not necessarily 'good' is just so unsettling. I've developed a bizarre theory of my own regarding Bran. It involves Jaqen H'ghar and the Faceless Men. It was never explained as to what he was doing in Kings Landing? What his mission was? Who could afford a King's Ransom to hire him? How he could allow himself to be captured so easily? I believe he was specifically hired to be captured in order to help Arya to become an assassin herself. I believe that it was Bran's future self who sent his mind back in time as a Green Seer and then used his power as a Warg to possess someone in the past to hire the Faceless Men with some very precise instructions. As a Green Seer he would know where substantial hidden treasure would be hidden for someone like him to access. Time of course would have no meaning in preparing these plans though. He'd just have to play it so no one would know who is ultimately behind it.

You are one of the best GOT theorists out there. You know why? You're doing it because you enjoy doing it, not to get views or money and that is brilliant. Hoping to see more of your videos.
The Pink Letter theory....(hopefully sometime in the near future)

I just noticed Drogo's eyes flinched when the blood splattered on him. LOL

Yeah? He's not dead at that point, and it's an involuntary reaction to having sudden pressure on the eyes.

Good idea getting a Patreon, your videos are great. Thanks. This theory is super creepy.

I was rewatching the second episode of the first season. This is the episode where Bran is still in a coma and where Ned kills Lady. At the end of the episode, Bran wakes from his coma right after Ned kills Lady. I can't recall if this happens simultaneously in the books as well. Maybe this was considered some sort of a sacrifice to awaken a part of Bran's powers?

"Only death can pay for life." That's one of the recurring themes in ASOIAF

Wow, this was a surprisingly coherent and convincing summary. Think I'm sold on theory now, after strongly doubting. Very nicely done!

Please please please, make videos on your predictions of WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MAJOR CHARACTERS IN THE BOOKS TO COME. Seeing as your analysis is purely based on evidence & logic, I think you are the most qualified man on the internet to predict it. I enjoy your fan-theory videos but an analytic guess on how or where the major characters like Tyrion will end up at the end of the series is what I'll like watching evenmore. Love. Keep the good work going. other Please give a thumb if you want this too.

I'm usually the one trying to debunk theories like this, but I totally believe this one. The evidence is there, everything fits, and it's just the kind of messed up thing GRRM would do.

Let me just say this about that; the part of your channel that makes me think and makes me laugh are brought out by your GoT videos specifically, and more so together when you point out how obvious some seemingly obscure plot and I laugh at myself in agreement even though I had missed it in my own reading of the books.
