@13:21 The floor does indeed lay flat. The load liner is adjustable allowing you place it higher up on the ledge making the area completely flat. When the seats are up it can be placed back allowing for a greater capacity.

Thank you for this review. Regarding the ridge that prevents a flat surface with the seats folded down, it should be noted that the flat tray can be lifted and is designed to sit flush with the seats because there are protruding lugs at the rear of the seat compartment provided for this purpose. I have seen this demonstrated at a car dealer as I like and need a completely flat tray baggage area. No ridge, and no problem!

I don't understand some of these comments as regards to interior materials (especially about the door). If you get in a Audi Q3 and go to the bottom of the door, the rubbish plastic is the same. I'm not suggesting that the Kuga uses as good materials, or is as well built as a Q3. But the comments made about how this a 'budget car' and implying it would be different in a 'premium car', is highly false and misleading. Even in something as expensive as an A7 has rubbish plastic that low down on the door.

I purchased a new 2017 Escape Titanium Awd with 2.0 EcoBoost. I found the fit and finish to be great. A lot of soft padding throughout the cabin. The storage bins in the door are hard plastic and need to be to hold larger and heavier items. I found this the case in much more expensive vehicles I test drove before deciding on the Ford. The copy you reviewed has a different shifter location then mine which limits space to the heater controls. My console is layed out much better than the ST version you reviewed. The 2.0 EcoBoost is rated at 245 Horsepower and provides more power increasing the fun factor. The ride and handling is outstanding. I totally disagree with your comment regarding it's handling. I recommend trying the US version with the 2.0 EcoBoost. After 16,000 miles. Absolutely no regrets. By the way. I have quarter mile times with a full tank of regular gas of 15.466 at 95.82 mph. I know that's not Mustang GT numbers, but it's still fun for a relative heavy all wheel drive SUV. One thing You failed to mention. The Sync 3 can be operated by voice command. I find the infotainment center to be solid. If you're going to compare the Escape's short comings. Please let us know what your compairing with. Like I mentioned. I test drove Toyota, GM, FCA to mention three and I still purchased the Escape. my decision was based on looks, comfort, fit and finish, ride and handling. I will add that the Engine option of having the 2.0 EcoBoost with 245 HP helped close the deal.

Good and fair review. But since the review was done in snowy environment, I would like to see a bit on how this small cross over performs in snowy icy hill climb. I do believe with winter tires, the AWD capability of this CUV should emphasis. There are a few videos that have done this. Claimed to be second only to Subaru AWD, which is a huge compliment. I think Ford should explore marketing this CUV from this marketing angle.

Why isn't the gear stick placed as in the American 2017 Escape (same car)? It is totally idiotic to place the stick so high up, almost half the way up on the dashboard, very near the buttons. It is these kind of stuff that makes me wonder how the Ford engineers and designers think? And what about the console in the middle? Jeeeezus, the build quality on that thing seems to be horrendous. Otherwise I really like the design of these new Fords, especially the Titanium and Vignale (Escape, Kuga), they look great... but are they good enough cars? Are they durable or do they fall apart within a couple of years?

The fuel consumption is so high becouse the engine is too weak for this type of car. A 2 liter turbo would use 2 liters less...

Speaking of Finland, how cool would it be to take the current gen Focus RS with the trick rear diff torque vectoring AWD system and some Nokian Hakkapelitta winter tires go up against the WRX STI in some deep snow! Maybe on a frozen lake or something both with nokian tires, seems like fords new AWD system would fare quite well in snowy conditions

I'm not sure about this Kuga face-lift... with its prominent Edge-like nose... and it looks a bit Ecosport-like too. The interior looks like an improvement with a better infotainment system. Thanks for the review AJ, and the great views of lovely Finland.

It seems that the Vingale Trim in Europe is the same as the Platinum Trim in the USA. And the “One Ford“ strategie is the right decision for the Ford Brand. But I think, they should offer the same engines in both parts of the world. And also the cars should use the same names. So the Kuga should be called Escape in every market and the mondeo should called fusion in every market. Than I also could live with the different trim names. That is of course my personly opinion. 😊
