- “I’ve been a public servant for my entire life. I just haven’t been a politician.” Maryland’s first Black governor-elect Wes Moore shares why he chose to campaign in areas that had few Democrats, what he believes “patriotism” really means, and how his life experiences influenced him to focus on building pathways for “work, wages, and wealth” for Marylanders. #DailyShow #Comedy

As a Marylander I am so proud of our new governor. Thank you, Trevor, for giving him national exposure.
Me too, I have high hopes for him as well
As a Marylander I’m happy he’s our next guy, however I didt hear 1 specific thing he stands for politically. Like on health care
Same here! Hogan stepped up during the pandemic, but I am so excited to see what happens now and to see how I can also contribute at the local level (besides voting every two years).
Hello fellow Marylander. Please enjoy the holiday season!!!!!
I dont vibe with parties, but i do vibe with people, and i'll be following this one. From this interview, he sounds like he could run for President in an Aron Sorkin film.
I hope He runs for President! The whole country needs integral leadership like this!
Agreed💯 I'm with her on this one
Hopefully one day!
We want him for at least 2 terms before the rest of the country can have him. 😁
I was just thinking that myself
@@SpaceG95 absolutely
Not from Maryland so was not familiar with Mr. Moore but after listening to him--very impressed. Also impressed with Trevor Noah-not just a comedian but very intelligent and articulate. A quick wit is a sign of a quick mind.
He's got a few books, most notably The Other Wes Moore. His other nonfiction book of note is about the 2015 unrest, Five Days: The Fiery Reckoning of an American City (co-written with NYT reporter Erica L. Green, formerly of The Sun).
Perhaps check out Wes’s book- The Other Wes Moore. Edit: OOPs! Did not see your post, @aresef
Impeccable character. Moore’s energy is just what we need. Attacking “redlining” is brilliant. Give humans a sense of belonging. Marylanders are lucky to have him. I’m paying attention to this one. ✌🏼❤️
Baltimore ,Maryland's largest city is one of the most violent cities in America. Let him fix that before giving him premature laurels.
"Redlining" is f-ing evil. Full stop.
Hello Jennifer
Yes we are 😁
I concur.
Being from Maryland, I love Wes Moore. I think he will do right by us!
Hi Michele
You love him because he's 'black'. How pathetic.
This guy gives me hopes of our future in America
Saaame!!!!!
We are extremely lucky to have this man as our governor and Aruna Miller as our Lt. Governer
Me too!!
Facts
Jealous! in NH. Though there is much worse than Sununu I suppose
ill give u my EU country president and u will trade yours, do we have a deal?
Marylander here and we are so happy that he is our Governor.
I’m so proud to be a Marylander…I voted for him as well as my entire family! He’ll do great things for Maryland!
No child should have to come from a neighborhood they’re afraid of - ❤ he is 💯 what we need in this life 2023 gives me hope I want to have him run for President after his success in Maryland
I could feel the passion that he has to change things around for Maryland. Wishing him all the success in the world!
Proud Marylander who voted for Gov Moore. I voted Blue. We got Senator VanHollen & Rep. David Trone re-elected. I am very impressed w our new Governor. Thanks for sharing his message w the world.
As a Maryland resident I must say that I am excited about my future in Maryland. Wow!!! What a brilliant fellow.
Honestly, I’m right there with you! The sincerity, & passion he shows is absolutely infectious. I’m seriously thinking of being in Annapolis to see him sworn in
@@zmm88 me too! I am also considering going for the event 😊.
it's crazy how easy it is to recognize authenticity when you see it. keep it real, wes
I’m so grateful to live in Maryland and among people who overwhelmingly voted for this man!
"among"? Bruh we're a deep blue state
I voted Wes Moore! He spoke so passionately @my church and I pray that his goals are accomplished while he's in this role
I'm a Marylander, and I'm watching this just to figure out what kind of guy our new governor would be. Seems like I'm not gonna regret voting for him! Wouldn't have either way, but I like Wes. My mom's been working with his campaign through a lot of the primary season, and I'm seeing what she saw in him. This is a guy with principles, a guy who can talk to people in a way they'll understand but in a way that shows he knows what he's talking about.
When he tell his story. It's a beautiful thing. He's a gift, for sure.
“Leave NO ONE behind.”
Let’s all take that to heart - in all states.
Amen.
I'm a Northern Virginian who is looking forward to Mr. Moore's governorship. In my experience, sometimes when intelligent legislation is passed in MD, due to proximity it can then gain traction in Virginia
Can some of that gain come through Michigan!? PLEASE!!! 😇🥰
Even with Youngkin as your governor? I hope you're right!
@@itsjeninMass Well, Youngkin got elected to fix the CRT issue in schools. And now it's fixed.....ummmm... maybe 'cause it was never a thing.
@@ecnelovelam8597 Seriously. 🤣🤣
@@ecnelovelam8597 So many people are so paranoid, so uninformed, and so gullible. Still!
"If a kid thinks that you don't care, they don't care what you think. So we've got to make sure we're coming up with true pathways for all of our children to understand that the future of our society isn't real unless they're a part of it."
Wishing him the best and hope he'll be able to accomplish everything he is saying here.
As a Marylander, and as practically his neighbor, I'm so proud of having him lead Maryland. I bumped into him a couple of weeks ago, I was walking, he was jogging. His smile and wave as he jogged past just gave me butterflies, 🥰🥰🥰. And I was walking with my bf. We are both slightly older than him, but man, the charisma, 😍.... If his security detail wasn't crawling behind in the car, I might have tried to hug him.
I am feeling this man. He seems like he's going to make some big changes!
"Hope and change" from Obama changed NOTHING.
@Master Mind not for the better.🤨
He killed that🔥
Lovely to meet you, future President Moore. Thank you Trevor.
"If a kid thinks you don't care, they don't care what you think". - BARZ!
GREAT INTERVIEW, TREVOR ALWAYS ASK THE MOST NECESSARY QUESTIONS, TWO BRILLIANT MEN.
He sounds so competent, I want to move to Maryland
People hate but it’s a fantastic state
Thanks Trevor for giving us a chance to get to know this man.
Fellow Marylander here! Yay Governor Moore!!! 🎉🎉🎉
I’ve been following Wes Moore ever since reading his book “The Other Wes Moore.” Congratulations Governor-elect Moore!
Wow. No matter your side of the political aisle how lucky to have your state led by someone who truly cares and has passion and a vision for helping all.
I like this guy!!
As a Virginian, I'm happy for y'all in MD !! Wish I could say the same about our state leadership...
I’m a Marylander and voted for Wes Moore. I loved the smile he had during election. You couldn’t smack the smile off his face. I feel protected like I did when President Obama was my President.
Maryland is my favorite American State. And my only son works in Law Enforcement and lives there too! I visit once a month to see my granddaughter and grandson. I always admire Wes Moore when he appeared on MSNBC frequently. Marylanders did the right to elect him Governor.
I’m feeling him. As a guy who lives in Baltimore I can vibe with him! And I don’t think he’s going to make me regret my vote. Let’s win this decade!
Looking forward to his active partnership with Baltimore City on education, jobs, healthcare and crime. As a Baltimore County resident who frequents city businesses and had worked in the city in the past, I'm hoping to see active strides towards changes early on.
Just wow... inspired and inspiring. Now this is the passion and focus we need in our elected officials. Hope he gets all the support he needs to improve the lives of all Marylanders
Hoping he'll accomplish what he says and keep his promise about not raising taxes, although "preschool for all" needs to be funded. So, WHO is going to pay for preschool for everyone's kids? TAXPAYERS, that's who, so there goes his "promise" about not raising taxes.
Today, I am proud to be a Marylander and have voted for Wes Moore. this man is going to do great things!
From Harford County, Maryland very proud of my state and congratulations to Georgia👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Proud to be a Marylander!!!
Proud Marylander here!!! I think we’re in great hands.
Proud to vote for Governor-Elect Moore. First election in MD and it was really cool to be able to vote for him
I’m so happy I moved back home to MD, this is our decade
Very proud as a Marylander to have him as our next governor!
Mr West, im quite impressed on your speech, congratulations on your win, and im sure you will be a great governos for those people, impressive background and your appreciation of things. hope you achieve all you want and congratulations
Another great interview Trevor ! And this is the kind we need to see the kind that give us all hope for progress and a future as a nation .. congrats to the folks in Maryland on electing a confidant forward thinking candidate that seems to have their states interests in sharp focus!
Right after reading "The other Wes Moore", I search him up, and he was governor elect! Respect for all that effort!
This guy seems like he's got his head on straight. I'm glad for Maryland, he understands because he's been there so hopefully he'll be able to do SOMETHING at least to help
Maryland pride for Wes 🦀🏈
I’m from Maryland (once upon a time… lived there like 45 years) and this new governor, Wes Moore really looks like he knows what he is doing. Let’s get behind him!!!!
I want this guy for president. Seriously vibe with him.
so proud to have Mr. Moore as my governor
I admittedly didn’t vote for Moore in the primary, however I wasn’t upset that he won it either. I am proud to have voted for him in the General election. Im confident he will move Maryland in the right direction.
I still remember the other Wes Moore being the first book I read cover to cover. So happy to see this guy continue to thrive.
I love this interview with our new GOVERNOR WES MOORE!
Wes has great fresh prospectives with a resume of getting things done. 🙂
Powerful. I met Wes on the campus of the University of Arizona in 2014. The Other Wes Moore was a great read and the common read for the UA's Honors College. Wes gives me hope!
Looking forward to having Wes Moore as our Governor. He was the Keynote for our Maryland Legislative Black Caucus Foundation weekend.
Work wages and wealth!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This brother is polished, poignant, and not afraid to turn up. Let's GOOOOOO! First of all, servants of all, we transcend all. 🤙❄
What a delightful human being !! Go Maryland. You got yourselves a winner! He is a shining star. Beautiful on the inside.
Never felt so proud to be from maryland .. Aslo I voted for the guy
I would’ve too.
Me too ✊🏿
Me too. ✊🏻
We need more like this one.
I'm originally from Maryland, too, and I am SO PROUD of my home state! Moore is an asset, not just to Maryland, but to our country as a whole!
Absolutely, Wes Moore you have shown and communicated what a patriot is through your actions of courage beyond a flimsy baseball cap! Thank you governor-elect Moore!😊
Glad I voted for him. Thank you for giving him this platform!!
I work for the state of Maryland in a job that is completely dependent on the decisions made by the Governor. I'm ready to see what Wes Moore will do, and pray it makes my job better.
I look forward to seeing Wes Moore lead and shape this wonderful state to greatness.
This guy will be president someday
People are saying he's the next Obama!
As a Marylander, I'm proud to say I had voted for Wes Moore, a Progressive! I believe his true life experiences and Progressive values are the keys to make actionable progress to our already great state. His a history of successful partnership will be clutch.
Thank you for sharing these views - we should all listen and pay attention! Kudos Wes Moore!
Congratulations Gov-Elect Moore
Brilliant leader with a heart for the people! I pray him success and that Maryland becomes a model for other states to bring all people to a place of economic wealth and universal healthcare!
Wes Moore is Progressive and as a Marylander who votes Democrat but with Progressive ideals, I'm also hoping to see that he bring actionable reform to healthcare, particularly for universal healthcare, into the state. I'm especially interested to see what conversations & partnerships he'll forge since we're a state with such highly regarded teaching hospitals Johns Hopkins University and University of Maryland, not to mention since MD is where CMS lives. I've worked as a non-clinical hospital administration staffer the past 6 years at bith Hopkins & UMMS, I've also worked as a contractor for CMS & for a Medicare-based insurance company so really have a vested interest in healthcare reform.
My dad served in the 82nd!
Very cool!
@@roots4140 thank you! We from NC.
Great interview Trevor! Exciting times to be a Marylander!
Can't argue with that. Congratulations Maryland, you picked a winner.
Thanks. I agree.
Thank you for interviewing Wes Moore.
Wow. Wes Moore for president! Let’s do it.
What an incredible man and what an incredible conversation. Trevor, thank you for bringing people like Wes Moore onto your show - people who can have an intelligent, open conversation and really open our eyes. I'm all the way from little New Zealand, and will be following Mr. Moore from now on due to his incredible insight and wisdom. What a pleasure it was to watch this ❤
Now that man knows what hard work is. I would’ve voted for him if I lived in his state.
We really would like the governor elect from Pensilvania to be interviewed here
I like this Brother. This is another great black man! G
Congratulations ♥️ Governor Elected Wes Moore. Again thanks Trevor for having this Young man on the show 🙏
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💥💥💥💥💥Let's go and let's go win this decade!!! I love him!!!! I don't live in Maryland lol but his energy is everything!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Yay! So proud of Maryland!
Love that! Address the needs then have a concrete practical plans! He’s so measured!
I love Wes Moore he will be a great governor 🙏🇺🇸🇺🇦
Trevor why are you doing this to us? The caliber of the guests and the interviews has been so amazing & makes me wonder who could ever replace you except maybe Roy, Desi, or Jordan. This interview had me checking for job opportunities in Maryland through my company. 👏👏👏 thank you for your candor Governor the 3 W's is a conversation that most politicians shy away from addressing in such a frank manner.
I was born in and grew up in Maryland and have to disagree that Moore didn’t stand a chance. Yes, Hogan was a Republican but he was the antithesis of Trump. He banned fracking in the state, he took the pandemic seriously and didn’t take for granted that most of the state had zero interest in being led by an extremist idiot. Maryland is the second highest educated state in the union and Moore was pretty electable when all is said and done.
This guy makes me wanna move to Maryland 🥲
He so passionate about this. I love it.
_"If a kid thinks that you don't care, they don't care what you think."_
Maryland, you elected a great man as your governor. Proud of you!
This guy's going to be a presidential candidate one day.
I hope he runs for presidency
He was only just elected Governor. He can do one job @ a time.
I see this in his future already too.
Thank you for this, Mr. Moore and Trevor. Honest knowledge.
Maryland: "Let's go win this decade!"
So delighted to see this. I'm from NY, but live in MD now. I'm looking forward to seeing him do great things. Awesome.
As a veteran of the Vietnam era and a 70year old black woman. It's refreshing to see the changes gradually showing forth.
Wow this man is very intelligent and you can believe everything comes out of his mouth.
This man is remarkable, hopefully he goes places to be able to serve this whole country eventually
I voted for Wes.
