Little known fact, Seattle’s horn is a legit decommissioned ferry horn that was repurposed from a scraped ferry that made trips across the Puget Sound for decades. Pairs perfectly with “Lithium!” GO KRAKEN!

Totally agree on the STARS song. This should never change. The stories of cup era Stars players (Ludwig & others) hanging out with Pantera members just makes this even more iconic. Top notch.

One thing I really enjoy about THG’s content is that I can watch the video or just listen to the audio and I will still get the same info. He’s one of the only people that I can do that with and I really like that
As someone that is not a Colorado fan, Chase the Sun is an incredible goal song and it's so different from everything else.
And knowing it’s from the sport of darts, of all things, makes it even more special

I think this survey kinda shafted a few teams like the Avs, a lot of goal songs are remixed for the arenas that play them so they sound almost like different songs. Chase the Sun is waaaaay more hype and upbeat at games when compared to the OG recording on RUclips, plus the audience interaction of 'hey hey hey!' is really fun

I haven't been to enough arenas to know them. I know the CBJ one is an EDM version of the Airwolf theme, which is pretty awesome.

I love that the Sabres doing their own song for the players and change it every season. It's such a nice touch. I didn't know other teams did that, I wish every team would do it.

I'm pretty sure Skinner's goal song is "Dance with Somebody" because one of the NHL 'kid reporters' was this little girl who started singing it to him because she wanted to dance with him, lol

Raise up by Petey Pablo is a good fit for the Carolina Hurricanes. It’s one example of a song “meant” for a team that isn’t about the team, the song instead about the geographical area of North Carolina. As a result, teams like the Charlotte Hornets or Carolina Panthers could also use it as well.
Yeah, all except for that part where a lot of us who live in Raleigh wouldn't piss on people from Charlotte if they were on fire... yeah... sure...

@@coastaku1954 Raleigh and Charlotte are the same as Pittsburgh and Philadelphia - two cities that are in the same state politically, but in two different worlds in every other respect.
@@mactheknife7049 They both fly the same flag, they should be unified. Though I will say I do get the division between Pittsburgh and Philly, same with any Northeast City and the rest of their state, but they don't hold a candle to the difference between Southern and Northern Ontario
I was overjoyed that the Kraken went with Nirvana but didn't use Smells Like Teen Spirit. I think Lithium could stick around for a very long time.
I'm so incredibly glad they didn't use smells like teen spirit. It's already overplayed and really doesn't fit like lithium does
I'm pretty sure it's Seattle's or once was their power play song, but I love it when they play Man in the Box by Alice in Chains. One of my favorites.

i remember when canucks had Holiday by Green Day as their song. Really liked that one.
The Detroit Red Wings used to play 2 Unlimited when they scored. That song playing after Darren McCarty scored on Ron Hextall in G4 of the 97 Cup Final will live on in my memories forever.
I always relate it to the Yzerman shot from the blue line to down the Blues. And these days with the Sharks major penalty comeback in Game 7 on the Knights a few years back
I always liked when Ottawa had individual songs:
- Alfie with Beautiful Day - U2
- Heatley with The Heat is On - Glenn Fray (had to google the artist on that one lol)
- Spezza with Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO
- Mike Fisher with his own custom song that his buddy recorded
- and of course Song 2 - Blur which they've had forever
"Song 2" is a classic celebration song, have to disagree with THG on that--definitely belongs near the top

Bro Hymn has been the goal song for the Ducks since the start of the 05-06 season.
I have done a complete 180 on shout. I didn't like it at first, but I do now for the sole reason that the crowd gets into it by echoing the "hey"s. It's lots of fun when you're at a game and you hear thousands of people doing it at once.
I'm super happy to hear that somebody agrees with me about the Red Wings, and Blues goal songs. The fact alone that they're custom songs for the team is pretty great, and hearing it live, and hearing how much fun scoring a goal in those arenas is, is enough to make me want to go see them live again, or, in the wildest of fantasies, to actually be the one scoring that goal.

It makes more sense as a win song than as a goal song. "Holiday" by Green Day was perfect!
I wish they at least just used the full song instead of mixing it with that dumb "La la la" song halfway thru. It gets you ready for one song, then changes to a different song..very offputting. But they obviously thought the actual song didn't sound quite right for a goal song so they changed the back end. Instead, they either should have leaned into the weirdness of it, or chosen a different song. Now we got this zombie thing.

Back in the day as a Caps fan when Keith Jones scored they used to play Mr. Jones by Counting Crows. Just great stuff. Personally I would use the Black Sails theme as my goal song.
Definitely Jeff Skinner’s goal song of Whitney Houston’s I want to Dance with Somebody and Olofsson’s Gimme Gimme Gimme by ABBA are the most fun celebrations I’ve ever seen. Glad you appreciate them.

I wasn't enthused when we switched ours to Shout, but it grew on me A TON after I got to go to the game 2, 6-2 shelling of the blues last year, the Xcel energy center was going absolutely bananaland. It took some time to settle into, but now it gets the whole crowd ROCKING during active games.
The only hockey team I have ever seen that uses Chelsea Dagger as their goal song other than the Blackhawks is the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks/Fighting Sioux, such a great atmosphere
I'd like to see "Old Time Hockey" by the Donnybrooks used somewhere. :) Also, "Detroit Rock City" by Kiss might be fun to use for the Wings too.

While I don't mind Zombienation at sporting events, it just feels weird as a goal song. It feels like more of a song to get you hyped. It kinda feels weird to start jamming to it while you're already hopping and excited

Another neat idea for a video might be if you were to to suggest your own goal songs. List the teams (including the ones with individual goal songs) and go through which ones you think should stay as is, and for the ones you want to change, make suggestions on what they should change to, whether they be a legacy goal song, a really appropriate song for the city, or just a personal favourite of yours that you think would make a good goal song when you're otherwise stumped with what to change a goal horn to that's thematically appropriate.
The 70/80s song choices like ABBA and the like are awesome
Tremendous. Just got in the mood to listen to some goal songs and searched for the Panthers, because I couldn’t recall their song, which brought me here. This will save me a lot of time. Especially now that I’m learning the Panthers have individual goal songs. That’s great, and I was completely unaware of that. Thanks once again THG!!

Carolina Hurricanes: Ridin' the Storm Out - REO Speedwagon (especially the live version). The title of the song says it all!
Toronto Maple Leafs: The Zoo - Scorpions. SOMEONE should have this a goal song, so why not my beloved Leafs?
Winnipeg Jets: Winged Assassins - Anvil. Most people probably haven't heard this song, let alone the band - give it a listen and tell me it isn't perfect!

The gong/bell you hear during the Blues goal celebrations is actually the organ! I think the organist has a video on his social media of him playing the gong sound for the towel man to count off the goals.
When Palat was still with the Bolts… Sweet Caroline playing in Amalie was a fucking experience. So fun.

THG Cmon! The Wild goal song (once youre in the arena and a goal is scored) has to be one of the most crowd-engaging songs. MN has always liked the general crowd interaction so I think its gotta do with that.
I am firm believer Tampa needs to have thunderstruck as the goal song in a similar way that Seattle has lithium, with a crowd chant. It’s a shame they don’t 😞

Oh, we are officially fighting about Song #2, Shannon. It may be important that that's the only Blur song I like other than Parklife (we're the same age btw). It's a fantastic goal song, and an appropriate #2 on the list for at least two reasons.
Go by Pearl Jam would be a good goal song.
Party Hard is my fave, which *sucks* because I hate the Pens.
The Red Wings used to play a variety of things that were highly situational, and I really do miss that.

We use Chelsea Dagger for the London Knights and I hate it here as much as I do in Chicago.

Maybe an off season/summer idea. What song would THG choose for each team? Example Rammstein’s “feuer frei!” For the Flames. Doesn’t have to directly connect to the team name, maybe the band connects to the city or something like that
The Haulin' Oates song the Leafs are using made sense the first season it was used, but it should have been retired a while ago. "Irish Washerwoman", used on the St. Patrick's day game was a very welcome change. Given the teams Irish roots, and Irish players like Reilly, O'Reilly, and O'Samsonov, I could go with it full time. Particularly if they did a tempo increase on every goal.
I was at the Buffalo Edmonton game a couple weeks back and I definitely agree that I Wanna Dance With Somebody is pretty hilarious to hear after scoring a goal! Hahaha. Crowd seemed to dig it too and it definitely has a nice pace and energy to it for celebration.
You need to do more videos like this where you look into the arena presentation! I love the goal horns and the music they play. Win songs would be fun too!
You were suggesting a time when Chelsea Dagger might be played for irony. Not exactly the same thing but earlier this year or last year I was watching a Sharks road game and one of their goals was being challenged for offside and it was a lengthy review. After a bit when it was seeming likely the goal would come off the board the team started playing the Sharks' goal song, I'm assuming to mock them.
The Blues did it to the Hawks after clenching the first round of the 2016 playoffs. The organist played it in the tempo of a funeral dirge.
The Stars goal song being anywhere outside of the top 3 should be considered a crime. Hearing it live in the stadium and chanting along is just fantastic.
Actually being there when it plays is an experience every Stars fan should have.
And the fact that the band were actual fans should make it #1

Shout out to Andrej Sustr. In Tampa his goal song was "Oops I did it again" by Britney Spears.
Also, "Hammer Time" for Stamkos.

For the red wings... I'm very partial to "Hey Hey Hockeytown" for the goal song. I know detroit has tried to get away from that moniker the last few years, but.. I had my formative years when detroit had their big run from the mid 90's to late '00's.
On a side note, the wings used to do individual goal songs. The ones that stick out to me were: Brendan Shannahan and the Irish Jig, Kronwall and "I can't drive 55," Luke Glendenning and the University of Michigan Fight Song and Abdelkater with the Michigan State University fight song.
The leafs st pats goal song is so much better than the hall and Oates one 😅

Assuming you mean Rock & Roll part 2, you might like the old goal song, but Gary Glitter liked the young kids. That's why you don't hear it anymore.

@@joemcardle7728 yeah I think all but a handful of teams used it in the ‘90s. The Devils were so attached to it (it was tradition to yell “Hey! You suck!” instead of just Hey!) that they kept it into the 2010s despite the bad associations. A vocal chunk of their fans are still mad about it being gone.

@de-faultde-fault6847 , I suppose it was an easy carryover decision when they moved, but apparently, the Rockies was the first NHL team to use it. I'm dating myself, but I definitely remember enjoying listening to it on their radio broadcasts, along with that distinctive goal horn.
One team I played on it was the chorus form Kiss "All hell's breakin" loose" and another was Motley Crue "Primal Scream".
Honorable mention to Steven Stamkos using MC Hammer for a personal goal song.
This reminds me of Brass Bonanza and the Senators Theme Song, great instrumental pieces of hockey history!
My favorite thing about the presentation when the Kraken score at home: the arches at the nearby Pacific Science Center light up in blue and red! Some lights right outside the arena also go! You can see that the Kraken have scored if you’re standing in the Space Needle, and I think that’s great. I also discovered recently through a friend who was a bit late to the game that you can hear the goal horn from outside the arena. Ferries are LOUD.

For the 'Yotes when they first started at the Glendale Arena. The first few years they had "Wild Side" by Motley Crüe as their entrance and goal song.
Please do a list for the win songs too. TNT is okay for the Flames but everyone wants Shot Down in Flames back. It's legendary to us

Chelsea Dagger is the goal song for my team in Yokohama. The goal they play when we get scored against is Holiday. As a Canucks fan, it’s very conflicting.
The second song used by Columbus after ac/dc is a banger. “the whip” by locksley, band is from Ohio and the “whoa oh oh” parts are 🔥
I loved the whalers song back in Hartford in 81 when I saw my very first game(S) against the bruins, mtl, isles. So old school. Du-du-du-dedededede-duuuu-dede dededededeeee.
I think my fave goal song ever is either Prince's Let's Go Crazy when Minnesota used it or Adam Rose's entrance theme (Break Away) for Ottawa.

Agree - Let's Go Blues by the Urge is way low. A song - written specifically for the occasion - by a local hometown band - is what this should be about. The fact that I went to High School with the guys from the Urge (a very St Louis thing) also contributes to my love for the song.

I don't mind the simple minds song but I think they brought it in when Bruce came to town and they went on that winning steak and the Canucks wanted to tell everyone that hey, we're still in this too, so don't forget about us. It's lame yes but I does make some sense.

When Julien Gauthier was in Charlotte (AHL), his song was 'It's Raining Men' by the Weather Girls...classic!
Did he try to ask either of the weather girls about changing it to “it’s raining pucks”?
Would definitely give a shout out to Alex Tuch for Party Up and Evgeny Kuznetzov for Get Low in terms of individual goal songs. Both have a ton of energy.
Side note, always thought What's Golden from Jurassic 5 would be a good goal song for Vegas if they wanted to switch things up.
My favorite individual goal song of all time was when Tampa played "Oops, I Did It Again" by Britney Spears for d-man Andrej Sustr. Crazy Funny!
I like the song "Don't You Forget About Me", but as a goal song it's soft, like how the Canucks respond when someone goons one of their players. It's like spraying the crowd with a sedative after scoring a goal in front of the fans. I loved it when they played U2 "Where the Streets Have No Name" leading up to the warmup, because it worked, but it also wouldn't make a good goal song either. If the Canucks DJ played Chelsea Dagger to mock the Blackhawks, when they were being blown out by Vancouver, they'd get rightfully fired for playing Chelsea Dagger and also start at least one fight on the ice and/or stands.
I'd love what St Louis do to celebrate their goals if I was a fan there. It's a killer for the visitors when those gongs stack up too much, but they're not playing it for the enjoyment of the visiting team. Back when the Canucks had a competitive team it was a killer to hear those gongs. The tradition of singing "Take Me Home, Country Road" is pretty cool too.
When Olaf scored in OT for the sabres and "GImme Gimme Gimme" started blasting, that was peak vibes

I'm guessing Ranger fans might have been overrepresented in the poll. To be clear: I love our goal song. I sing along with it even at home. My five year old daughter gets into it. If you're at the game the whole crowd sings along and does the fist pump with the HEY's and when it's a particularly big goal the atmosphere absolutely electric. Hell, they had a watch party at MSG for game 6 of the conference final last year and we went and sat there and watched the season end on the scoreboard, and even with the building only half full it was fun to sing the goal song together. *BUT* most of the songs created specifically as goal songs are ranked in the bottom half, so ours is definitely an outlier at #4. I guess longevity is helping it, too.
The Rangers song is the best!
It was written and composed specifically as a goal song.
It's a rolicking song that is energetic and easy to sing along to.
It always gets the crowd going and the "Hey! Hey! Hey, hey hey!" is often deafeningly loud.
It has been their goal song for nearly three decades, it has stood the test of time.
