- Sam Muir-James can swim to Rangitoto Island, perform magic tricks and make children laugh. He doesn't talk much, but he’s a handsome bloke with a winning smile. Now he's off on the trip of a lifetime - to the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles.

I'm seeing alot of similarities to the fictional "Forrest Gump", the wonderful, super supportive mom, the handsome young man with few words proving that the human spirit breaks all forms of limitations. The athlete, traveler and just beautiful person...and better yet, he's the real deal.
I would love to see Sam, Tania, and their families have a reality show. They are very inspiring, positive, and refreshing, from all of the negative drama on television.
I wouldn't. Sam doesn't need intrusions on his time and a pressure to "perform". A RUclips video at times is wonderful.

Having a son on the spectrum I would love it if he had more male friends like Sam. My son is high functioning and talkative..lol.
One of my best friends has autism. His name is also Sam. I've only known for only 7 years but I've enjoyed watching him find freedom in every situation. He hasn't always been given equal opportunity but he has the greatest personality and is just a joy to be around. He now truck drives for a big across country transportation company.

Get ready for a long paragraph, if you want to read it. And, if you're going to reply please be polite, or I will ignore and report you. I can handle bullies a lot better today than when I was younger, but it's still an upleasant experience whenever I encounter them. I'm sure there are lots of people who feel the same way, so please keep things positive. I'm not accusing everyone of this. I know there's also a lot of positive people, especially in the comments sections of inspiring videos like this . But still, I felt the need to say that. Anyway, I've been watching this guy's videos, and he seems to be doing very well for a person with autism. Also, I feel happy for him and Tania even though at the same time it's too bad for me that he already has a girlfriend. I think Sam is gorgeous and seems like a sweet and smart (despite his challenges) and fun guy, and if he and I met we might've hit it off since we both have the same disability; and good personalities, and not too toot my own horn but I'm cute as well. Plus, he has one of those sexy accents. But, I have to find my own man. Hopefully, God will send me one of those angels someday. I know that people don't just magically fall out of the sky, and I have to put effort into meeting a man and forming and keeping a relationship just like with people of both genders I just want to be friends with. The only difference is, with a guy I'm attracted to there's sexual and romantic desires that I wouldn't have for women or any guys that aren't my type. No offense was meant by that, by the way. I have preferences just like everyone else, which is ok as long as everyone is being nice about that. Unfortunately, some people don't express their opinions in a respectful way and sometimes it's hard to. But, I try to and succeed most of the time and so do most people at least . Anyway friendship still has to take place first, and if it doesn't work out I have to move on no matter how difficult it is ; Which I have a lot of experience with, unfortunately and it never gets any easier . "That's why they call them crushes. If they were easy, they'd call them something else. "- The Dad in John Hughes's movie, "Sixteen Candles" . At least I'm learning from my experiences, though and there's always hope . And I know that, everyone is imperfect . But, praying does no harm. I don't care whether he is disabled or not, as long as we are a good match. I also do Special Olympics Swimming. So, that's another reason I got excited. Also unfortunately we live too far away from each other, since I'm from America and he's from New Zealand. So, hopefully I will find someone who is nearby. I know, some people can make long distance relationships work and maybe that will happen to me. But, it's very rare. So, I am not counting on it. Those are all my thoughts about this video, and I am sorry for rambling. Autistic people tend to do that, whenever they're interested in something. I'm going to stop now, so that nobody will get bored.

Tia Marie this was nice ramblings, I agree with you Sam's story is inspirational. Sam and Tanya seem to really like eachother even though Tanya is quite chatty and Sam is not. They both have had really good support from their families haven't they? That seems obvious to me anyway. I wish someone like Barrack Obama could fall into my lap but I can see Michelle is the best kind of person for him! I wish you luck in finding somebody you like that is a good match for you - someone like Sam, by the sounds of it.

Sam and Tania are a sweet pair. The mothers are very supportive, but they both have the same agenda. They want grandchildren. Are they wanting to "normalize" their adult children? Fulfill their own dreams? I would think that the medical caregivers for Sam and Tania would inform them, individually or as a couple, as to the business of raising a family. The comments about Sam being "handsome" are shallow and come from silly, clueless women. Since when do looks determine if one will be successful in love? I dated a wonderful slightly autistic. deaf man for three years and sadly, fatherhood would have been too much for him to cope with. But, he is still one of my closest friends. And he has a woman who takes care of him now.
