  • In this video stroke survivor, George Vickery shares his recovery story...
George Vickery is a great example of how having a growth mindset can improve your recovery after a stroke. When he suffered a stroke, he was left with paralysis on his right side and had to relearn how to walk and talk. But he didn't let that stop him - with the help of intensive therapy, he made an amazing recovery. And today, he's an active advocate for other stroke survivors, helping them to see that there is hope for a better future.
While suffering a stroke is undoubtedly a traumatic experience, it's important to remember that there are many things you can do to improve your recovery. Having a positive attitude and a growth mindset are two of the most important factors in achieving success after stroke. So if you or someone you know has suffered a stroke, keep George Vickery in mind - and remember that there is always hope for a better future.

I was told two years and that's it I wouldn't improve any further, and I would never drive/ ride again by all the professionals. My licence was removed by DVLA.
18 months after my Stroke I was driving and riding my motorbike again, they can get it wrong.
You've are an inspiration to all survivors, they need to watch this.

I have only just discovered this video,
I'm in tears watching it as it broke my heart,
I have personally known george since I was a wee girl as he was a very good friend of my dads as I was growing up,
Although it broke my heart as I said it also made me very proud of him for fighting as hard as he has to get where he is today,
Well done george keep going. Xxx

My husband suffered a massive bleed to the brain on June the 19th this year he’s still in hospital he can’t talk and they have had him on his feet a couple of times but he’s passing out , I think he’s going to be in for months and months I’ve been recently stopped from visiting cos of covid we were going in to feed him cos he’s gone quite frail , I’m so frightened about the future we will cope with any disability he has .but the fact he can’t talk is so distressing for us . Is there hope he will get some speech back he can understand us when we talk to him

It was hard for me to stand before walking! They had to hold me up and push my to the bathroom in a machine. Now i'm working on my arm.
