Very poor title decision. She said so many important things but prioritizing clicks when deciding the title is sad. Especially for such a well known podcast. Again a woman put on the spot for her relationship over her achievements.

I agree. It saddens me to see that the title is about cashing on someones painful moment rather than their resilience, vision, wisdom. @Jay, you are a wise soul yourself. I hope you consider this comment.

I agree. Jay, most people listening to you are not looking for drama, but for growth. So the titles should reflect that. Plus it's a simply disrespectful title to Melinda, who is so much more than a person who divorced Bill Gates.

🤟) THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the Salvation of the last day that Christ brought in the second and last incarnation of His new and holy name"
"The Work of the Holy Spirit and the Work of Satan" ... (When the Holy Spirit works within a person, the physical things of the person are still there and his stature remains as before, but he achieves the clarification and enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, and so his condition becomes normal, andhe changes quickly. The work of the Holy Spirit is positive advancement, while the work of Satan is retreat, being negative, being rebellious, resisting God, losing faith in God, and not even singing hymns, and being too weak to perform thedutyWhen there is the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, nothing in what you do will interfere or hinder; you will be freed, will have a path in carrying out your actions, and you will not be subject to any prohibitions, but will be able to act according to the will ofGodThe work of Satan causes you to interfere in many things; it deprives you of the desire to pray, makes you too lazy to eat the words of God, and has no desire to live the life of the church, and it separates you from the spiritual life. If you can clearly discern which things are from Satan and which are guided by the Holy Spirit, you will not be misled in your experiences right away. Because you know what is the work of the Holy Spirit and what is Satan's, you can compare them to your own condition during your experiences, and to your own condition during your experiences, and to your own experiences, and in thisway there will be many more truths related to the principle in your experiences. Of course, that is as long as your motivations are right, and as long as you are willing to search and execute. People must understand both how the Holy Spirit works and how Satan works; they are both indispensable parts of human experiences.)
      Almighty God said
When the HOLY SPIRIT WORKS WITHIN MAN, man's innate things are still there and his STAGE REMAINS as before, but he ACHIEVES the ILLUMINATION and LIBERATION of the HOLY SPIRIT, and so the his STATUS becomes more urgent, the conditions INSIDE him become NORMAL, and he CHANGES FAST. 🌷
In people's real experiences, they mainly experience the work of the Holy Spirit or Satan, and if they cannot understand these conditions and do not know the difference, entering into real experiences is not possible, especially yet the changes todisposition. So, the KEY to EXPERIENCE the WORK of GOD is to BE ABLE to reflect on such things; this way, it will be easier for them to experience it.
The WORK of the HOLY SPIRIT is POSITIVE PROGRESS, while the WORK of SATAN is retreat, being NEGATIVE, being REBELLIOUS, RESISTING GOD, LOSS OF FAITH in GOD, and DISLIKE even SINGING hymns, and being TOO WEAK to PERFORM theDUTY. Everything that comes from the LIGHT of the HOLY SPIRIT is truly NATURAL; It is NOT FORCED on you. If you FOLLOW it, you WILL HAVE PEACE; otherwise, you will be criticized afterwards. When there is the LIGHT of the HOLY SPIRIT, NOTHING you DO will INTERFERE or PREVENT; you will be freed, will have a path in carrying out your actions, and you will not be subject to any prohibitions, but will be able to act according to the will ofGodSATAN'S WORK CAUSES you to INTERFERE with many things; It LEAVES you of the desire to PRAY, MAKES you too LAZY to EAT the WORDS of GOD, and UNWISHING to LIVE the LIFE of the church, and it separates you from the SPIRITUAL LIFE. 🛑
The work of the Holy Spirit does not interfere with your daily life and does not interfere with your entry into a normal spiritual life. You cannot perceive many things at the very moment they happen, however, after a few days, your heart becomes brighter and your mind becomes clearer. There is a little understanding of spiritual things, and gradually you are able to tell whether a thought is coming from God or from Satan. Some things clearly make you oppose God and rebel against God, or prevent you from practicing God's words; these things are all from Satan. Some things are not obvious, and you cannot tell what they are at that moment; then, you will see their signs and then take the hint. If you can clearly discern which things are from Satan and which are guided by the Holy Spirit, you will not immediately be led astray by your experiences. There are times, when you are not in a good mood, that you have certain thoughts that take you out of your normal state. This shows that even if your situation is not pleasant, some of your thoughts may still come from the Holy Spirit.
It is not the case that when you are convinced, all your thoughts are sent by Satan; If that is true, when will you be able to move into a positive state? Because you have been in the dark for some time, the Holy Spirit gives you the opportunity to be perfected; He touches you and removes you from your precarious state. ☀️
Because you KNOW WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS and WHAT SATAN WORKS, you can compare them with your own SITUATION AT THE TIME of your EXPERIENCES, and with your own experiences, and in this way HAVE more that there are many moreFACT that is PRINCIPALLY RELATED to your EXPERIENCES. Since you have understood these truths about the principle, you will be able to manage your actual situation, you will be able to see the difference between people and circumstances, and you will not need to spend so much effort to achieve the work of the Divine. spirit ☀️
Of course, that is as long as your motivations are right, and as long as you are willing to search and execute. Language like this--language related to principles---must feature in your experiences. Without it, your experiences will be filled with Satanic interference and foolish knowledge. If you don't understand how the Holy Spirit works, you don't understand how you get in, and if you don't understand how Satan works, you don't understand how, you will be careful with your every step. PEOPLE must both UNDERSTAND how the HOLY SPIRIT WORKS and HOW SATAN WORKS; they are BOTH NECESSARY parts of HUMAN EXPERIENCES. 🙏

His Coming is the fulfillment of all that was prophesied in the great book of Revelation, so the last "Salvation" He brought the whole truth, the way for eternal life. So the "victorious" ones who will receive them are the wise "virgins" because as recorded in the prophecy of His return no one knows it except the one who will receive it! The title dishonours the conversation and this awesome, wise, accomplished woman.
I suspect she is one of them, those women who despite their many accomplishments, were never fully recognized for what they’ve achieved, but for whom they did or didn’t marry.
She is all the women she tries to support and speak for, perhaps this is why helping women tap into their potential is such a central theme in her life and mission.
So yes, that title is problematic because it doesn’t allow people to see her as a fully fledged woman beyond her marital status. Stories and words matter and in instances like this they help perpetuate same old stereotypes.

I am really happy that Melinda Gates brought up the lack of federally mandated family leave in the US. It’s absolutely imperative to creating more equal opportunities for women and empowering them to stay in the workplace. Another big one is the lack of affordable, quality childcare that allows families the flexibility to both work outside the home. It’s an uphill battle for families with young kids and two working parents without family to rely on.

Here in Taiwan we have the love-heart mamas and papas. In the dark of the night they are on their scooters feeding the stray dogs and cats. They don’t have non-profit organizations. They are often very poor. When there is an emergency, they are often willing to help. They have inspired me and I humbly followed their light, their example. There is nothing more important in this world than to be of service. Even animals are of service to each other.

I really enjoyed this! Loved that Melinda mentioned Richard Rohr. I was first introduced to Richard's "Breathing Under Water, Spirituality and the 12 Steps" by a recovering alcoholic addict while I was in a family co-dependency recovery program about 20 years ago.
It was a life saver for me.
As were many of the writings of Brene Brown. Its cool to hear her talk of them as part of her journey.
And so many of us can also relate to the discussion on divorce.
Ending a marriage...breaking apart a family... and finally, accepting that what you thought was going to be your future is no longer possible, is one of the hardest challenges to navigate.
Thanks so much for this interview, Jay. I really knew little about Melinda (other than the usual headlines)

Dear Jay Shetty. Loved your insight, ‘we repeat what we reward’ re a top 100 rich (in service) list ❤. I am a mother of a severly learning disabled autistic young man and i have personally experienced a huge cohort of people who ‘figuratively’ - climb mountains and live out daily the truest meaning of ‘Grace’ in the nitty gritty shitty ‘on the ground’ type way. These ppl have inspired me, helped me and carried on in unbelievable circumstances at times!
In fact, there are so many seemingly ‘ordinary’ people in daily life, who have served us, quietly carrying out daily miracles and heroic acts (like the coach you mention) who have huge profound influences on our lives. Just like the ‘helping another to breathe easy’ quote Melinda mentions’.
How about we start honouring them? How about we hold up acts of love & kindness & daily strength in massive adversity as our role models in society?
There is a sea-change with a cohort of influencers like yourself (DOAC for eg.. both of you singing from the same hymn sheet.. but many others to!) .. the upticks in following & guests you are all getting on will give a platform to create a different ‘rich list’ such that you dream of. Together you CAN make this happen!
It’s about time we honoured & appreciated those who oftentimes don’t even realise what a magnificent service they are giving to another. The more light we shine on our beautiful acts the more light is reflected ❤.

hope all of us make time for ourselves

Thank you Melinda French Gates. Thank you so much for reconfirming Grace and the place it has in life and the immeasurable impact of Grace in life. I’ve lived my life up until now believing in this and hearing from you was my moment here in this podcast 💜🥹
I am walking the path of working with grassroots women here in India and to work with them to help them realise their full potential, unlock their potential as you said because every life deserves their place under the Sun. All I know and all I understand is step by step if we are able to impact and transform one life and then one more and then one more, there will be large scale impact. There will be what we so wish to see - a world where one gets to live the life of our full potential. Thank you so much for reaffirming we’re ok and we’re going to get there even if the issue at hand feels complex and complicated but we will break it down to simpler ways one by one 🙏🏼

I really liked this interview. Melinda is an inspiring, smart and kind human being. Well conducted interview though I agree with the comment about using her divorce as a hook on the title seems cheap sensationalism but it was comforting to hear it mentioned just briefly and used to deliver hope instead of venting. Well done.

No doubt a very intelligent and nice woman.
    Admirable person.
She went to Duke (my nephew did too) for the same Computer Science, and it’s a great school
In all respects. The students are bright and rounded.

For anyone watching the beginning, just want to point out that yes, something like divorce is also change... and change can't always inherently be fun... This seems just to have been forgotten at the beginning of the conversation... so don't rush yourself if people who seem to have it together make it look easy - now, or ever...

My friend asked me to listen to this interview, her comment at the time was: I am a person of color, Melinda G’s wishful thinking is not only full of nativity, but also shows her subtle power of superiority. We do not need her mercy. She thinks every person of color needs her help, how does she know that we are unhappy just because we are poor? Total arrogance. She needs to make herself happy first.
After listening to to the full interview, I agree with the person of color’s comment.

    • @NMV-ej4zd
      @NMV-ej4zd 11 дней назад +4

She never implied EVERY person of color needs her help. She stated a truth that many women and people of color do not have as much power as white males (in America) and males in other societies. She also did not imply people who are poor are "unhappy," but may not have resources they need to make life easier and safer and healthier. I also believe you meant to say she has naivete, not "nativity"? But, I do agree that some wealthy people (and religious groups) do push themselves and agendas of what is "right" onto people in other countries without enough input from the residents of those countries of what they need.

With all the criticism over the title choice…what would alternative suggestions be. I, for one, would have anticipated she would share her insights from going through difficult trials in life because this show is about learning and growth. People are curious about her divorce, such a difficult topic that it gives hope and inspiration to people who are going or who have gone through such difficult trials and if she can get through the emotional humiliation and tearing apart of her family, she can offer hope for others who wouldnt have clicked onto this show otherwise.

She comes through as a sincere woman and a proof that money doesn’t buy happiness. She seems to be one more living example that traveling contrarily to what she said, does very little nothing to really enrich people. Unless you live, work and pay taxes somewhere you can travel as much as you want and you will remain the same because you can detach yourself from the mainstream realities of wherever you are so easily especially with entourage, money and a culture as strong as US culture. She clearly is a very sheltered very privileged American woman with a tad of poor little girl syndrome. Kudos to her for putting herself out there because that’s sharing and being generous by all means. I like what she said about everyone around the world being the same at heart. That rings very true. The pushing of pharmaceuticals and corporate mentality is at the very least questionable. Giving back to the world is leading by example not necessarily giving money.

I am almost her age and could really relate to her on so many levels and issues. I teach and my goal is to find each student’s strengths and am committed to making sure that every student can achieve their potential. I don’t know which student sitting in my classroom has the cure for cancer or the solution to climate change, etc. All of my students are non-white and economically challenged and as a society we need to ensure that all people achieve their potential since that is the only way we will survive.
