I’m going to go completely off script and disregard the ‘sparkie’ diagnosis and play the ‘dropped valve’ scenario. Yeah, I know “put down the crack pipe.”
Ok, but how does a burnt or bent valve stop pulse getting to 2 injectors on one bank, 2 on the other, then switch cylinders when you swap the output plugs and follow the input plugs when they are swapped?
Yeah, ya got me there. Didn’t think that through did I? The start up just sorta gave me the impression…had a C32 ‘fart and carry on’ like that…ended up being #5 dropped valve. I’ll go back and pull my head in…shall I? 😃
Checking continuity with ohms. Doesn’t mean good , it could go open under injector load , back probe the injector and check voltage under load , and also check voltage drop from Ecu pulse at injector make sure it is pulling negative to ground , because you swap the injector driver plugs and problem moves from half to other half , I’m thinking you have a input to driver missing or power dropping out under injector load ,
That's a good idea, I had considered just running new wires (white, pink, black, greena and blue) to the grey plug from the ecu but I didn't have enough evidence to convince me it would be worth it, I'll give that a crack when I get a minute
Also check for the input to injector driver module , what triggers it cam or crank sensor ,I’m not familiar with Toyota land cruisers maybe it has two cam sensor s and your loosing one of them causing no injector pulse on 50 % of them, do you have a rpm signal ,looking at data stream in your scanner .
What was the end result?
Oh what a feeling!
Check the green wire which is ground coming from the ecu

Needs a New engine computer

RPM yes, I had this thought but I figured I would have lost one bank alone if I lost one cam signal
