Actually the whole “no king” was very much a later edition. If anything, the average colonist was very supportive of the king. The issue we had was with the elected body of Parliament because various rules meant Parliament couldn’t tax us because we were not represented in said body. Which Parliament promptly ignored by issuing “Not Taxes” like the Stamp Act, which was what led to the initial protests and eventual clashes between British troops and colonial militias. In fact, prior to the declaration, the Continental Congress made several overtures to George III asking him to act as an impartial mediator between them and Parliament. Only for George to throw the offer back in their faces prompting us to YOLO for independence.

with the 2nd highest poverty rate of all developed countries
with the highest level of income inequality
with a lower than average level of home ownership

The ending, I couldn't agree more to that, damned lobbyists. If not for our 2nd president in history, lobbies and political parties wouldn't have been founded. Just the Aristocrats being, well, Aristocrats. And just as George Washington had pointed out. The implementation of Lobbies and political parties would be the ruin of our nation. Pretty nuts. Love your stuff HLC, keep up the amazing work.

@forsociopoliticalstuff2629 Aristocrats aren't, no matter where or when. Our nation originated from the oppressed seeking to end oppression, yet those who had governed during British occupation still wished for power. Hence why lobbies were allowed to start

Lobbyists are why you see 14 year olds sucking on vape pens like they’re pacifiers. That’s how everyone in my generation got hooked on substances. They all started with flavored vape pens. And due to lobbyists, the companies that make this are allowed to do everything except straight up sell to children.
I have nothing against people who smoke cigarettes, I only hate the people who make nicotine products attractive to kids. And unlike tide pods accidentally looking like candy, this is fully intentional.

@@gothpunkboy89 I’m perceiving this as a pick at the cronyism vs crony capitalism arguments written as a mirror to the No True Scotsman fallacy brought up by pinko’s and commies way too often.
And boy do I have a backhand for you:
Capitalism, by Marx’s and Engels’ definitions refers to any economic system in which the means of production are owned by the individual. This definition does not satisfy lobbyists and corrupt politicians.
Free Market economies, which Marx was trying to describe, are economic systems with no government control. THIS ALSO fails to satisfy defining corruption.
MIXED MARKET ECONOMIES, which the current United States has, is an economic system in which the Government has a presence in the economy through regulation or participation. While this is closer than either of the other two definitions I have offered, it STILL does not satisfy corrupt lobbying or even lobbying in General.
CRONYISM is gaining or having the backing of Authority either as a part of an exchange or otherwise, WHICH IS WHAT WAS DESCRIBED IN THE VIDEO.
So, pound sand. It’s not semantics, it’s correcting the record.
