In all seriousness, Brent Mason played at a guitar camp I was attending in Nashville in 2004. I was about 5 feet from him. His brother comp'd for him during the session. It was one of the most mind blowing displays of guitar playing I have ever seen. I asked him to sign my Tele afterward. He said, "Are you sure man?" I said "Hell yes!" I've seen a lot of guitarists in my life. He's top five in history, in my worthless opinion.
Absolutely. A sympathetic intelligent interview and you don't interrupt your subject (a lot of interviewers could learn from how you do it). Thanks and more please.
I've been researching, watching and really listen ing to the masters of the guitar for a few years now and there's always one constant among the best....humility! From Danny Gatton to Freddie King to SRV to Roy Clarke and back around to Albert Collins and Lonnie Mack, they and 50 more are amazing talents..but such nice people.
I've never really liked new country and I've completely ignored it my entire life. I just started playing guitar for an established country band and have been listening to these unfamiliar songs for the first time while paying particular attention to the guitar. A LOT of the solos are done by Brent and he's a monster on guitar. Tack on the fact that he appears to be a really decent guy. I wish I'd have started listening to this stuff sooner.
This intervew has been incredibly well prepaired... great questions, good knowledge of Brent musical path... and a very tastefull way to touch gear relatd subjects without over shadow the human / musician part of the interview. I really appreciate your work! Keep on the great work! Looking forward to the next episode!
We have tried hard to make them fun interviews that tell the musician's story. It seems that most focus either on gear, or just the story. We strive to do both in a well-prepared way. Thank you for noticing our effort. Zac
Hey Brent, great interview and I love the Wrecking Crew strap. Denny Tedesco's documentary is one of the best.Clearly, you appreciate those who came before.
What a great interview with Brett Mason. I'm truly enjoying your channel Zac. I've recently got back into learning guitar again. Brett has played on many of the country albums I enjoyed listening to in the 90s and newer stuff as well. Thanks for all your hard work Zac, keep these great interviews coming :)
He's so important to the history and link in Nashville. When I heard his jazz playing on "Swang" w Mark O'Conner , I packed up my family and moved here. thanks for the interview.
My all time hero & idol guitar picker of these days........ Reggie Young in the older days. Hope to actually meet him and shake the hands that have made the music of my life...... maybe if I live long enough.
Zac, could you or someone please get a interview with Don Kelley , there is literally nothing on the internet about this guy other then people talking about him.
Only 3, but they are all great. Part 2 to be released Thursday, and part 3 the following Thursday. Subscribe so you don't miss out on the next Lounge episode. Zac
Zac...I must say the first time I watched one of your videos I didn't like it. I've done a complete 180. I really like your content. Thank you for all the effort you put into this stuff. I know it must be a lot of work...
He also tours playing accompanying guitar in Joe Satriani’s touring band, for a second I thought Brent Mason was two people with the same name, I thought a blue grass guy wouldn’t even run around in the same circles as a progressive rock guy would, Then I saw Brent onstage in Joe Satriani’s band I see why he’s in that band Joe needs another guitarist as good as he is paying those parts, I’m sure Brent is well compensated for his work with them, he’s very musical dude
Man I hope no one takes this wrong, because I'm a BM *FAAAAN* by all measurements, even wearing out his solo album "Hot Wired" and doing my best to learn some of the [less complicated, mind-blowing] parts. But every interview I've ever seen of him he seems to be very uncomfortable at a certain level. I can't help wondering of many artists this brilliant don't struggle in such instances. He's charming and entertaining, but I can't help thinking that deep down he would rather be ANYWHERE else just playing guitar.
Brent's wife noted that he was the most comfortable she had seen him on this interview. We both got very tired by the content seen in part 3. I'll take the blame. Zac
Reggie now Brent man this is my favorite thing on you tube right now thanks
2 more parts to go on Brent. Thank you! Zac

Brent is such a monster on the guitar and he seems to be a genuinely nice human being as well.
A 38-minute interview with one of my all time favourite players? All I need is a couple of beers and my night is set. Thanks Truetone/Brent!
You are very welcome. Please subscribe so you will get notified when part 2 & 3 are released. Zac
Truetone already done 😉
🙏
"A couple of beers" and go plug into an amp.
It is so refreshing to see a knowledgeable interviewer interview these players. Thank you Zac for taking these one on ones to the next level.
Thank you for the kind words. We all try hard to make the show enjoyable for all. We try to make a show we would like to watch. Zac
Absolutely. A sympathetic intelligent interview and you don't interrupt your subject (a lot of interviewers could learn from how you do it). Thanks and more please.
Thank you Laurie. We want to hear the guest speak, and tell their story. Zac
@@TruetoneFX Right on Zac, some of the best interviews regarding gear, playing style and overall philosophy of playing music. A great combination.
My prayers have been answered! We get the Brent Mason episode! Thanks to everyone at Truetone for these videos!
You are so welcome!!! Bob, Jamie, Dana, and I love doing them. Zac

Great interview, Zac. What a character Brent is!
The great kind! Thanks. Zac
Great Job!!!! The baddest cat in town and to me, Brent took the torch of Reggie Young and Albert Lee and wrote the book!
He did write a whole new chapter. Zac
I've never really liked new country and I've completely ignored it my entire life. Finally! Brent is one of my favorites and his playing is unobtanium.
His playing changed Country Music. Love his playing, and story. Zac
Doesn't get any better than this. Love the Truetone Lounge.
Thank you!!!!! Zac
"With amplifiers... with amplifiers, baby!" God, I love this guy.
Think how bad it was going direct........Zac
Fuck direct!!!!!
I did a session with another A Team player. We put his amps in another room and turned them up to 11. Jeez they were loud!
This intervew has been incredibly well prepaired... great questions, good knowledge of Brent musical path... and a very tastefull way to touch gear relatd subjects without over shadow the human / musician part of the interview. Hey Brent, great interview and I love the Wrecking Crew strap. Denny Tedesco's documentary is one of the best.Clearly, you appreciate those who came before.
That is a very cool strap
Ahhh that outro alone is worth the price of admission. Thanks for this.
"First Rule of Thumb." It is great. Zac
"If you are not playing the song, why are you there? " Love that!
Glad that guys like yourself are bringing us interviews from top Ace musicians like Brent and others!!!🙏🙏🙏

What a great interview with Brett Mason. I'm truly enjoying your channel Zac. I've recently got back into learning guitar again. This is sooo good.

He is the session king, and a very kind gentleman. Zac

You guys are one a roll, love it! What a player! Any chance of getting J.T. Corenflos?
Thank you. JT is on our list! Zac
Great interview, very entertaining.
This is great! New subscriber here lol thanks for the uploads. BTW, call me crazy but I love the old stuff they recorded direct!!!
It certainly had its own sound. I think direct guitar tones are a bit more "in your face." Zac
❤tone and touch, and then some musical more
I played blowin smoke like Brent here, alone, at my audition for a music conservatory.... and got in!
It is an impressive tune. You must have played it well! Zac
I was going to ask, but I think I figured out that the outro is "First Rule of Thumb" (?)
Thank you for figuring that out. Others were asking. Zac
Awesome!!
Thank you! Please subscribe so you know when parts 2 and 3 are released. Zac
I love the photo of Shania Twain!!! One of my all time favorites.... did you play with her??? I'd love to play with Shania Twain!!!!! 💘
He did!
Zac, could you or someone please get a interview with Don Kelley , there is literally nothing on the internet about this guy other then people talking about him.
I have been pondering that for a while. I would want to get as many of his former guitarists involved as possible. Zac
Was the Alan Jackson's "a lot about livin' and a little bout love" the first album that he used an tube amp & pedals on Jackson's stuff?
That's what it seems like. "Don't Rock the Jukebox" was still direct. Zac
thanks!!
I want to know what Brent is thinking when improvising. How is he visualizing through changes, etc. Anyone seen a video like that from him?
Dig that wrecking crew strap Brent showing props to the California 1st callers!
Ur my fav guitar player . U play it a . Great playn
Brent Mason is my favorite guitar player ... I hope he got paid very well for all the hooks and all he wrote for Allan Jackson ...!!!
Zac is a great interviewer! Brent is pretty cool too.
What is the piece he is playing at the end?! I feel like I know it, but I can't put a name to it...anyone?
"First Rule of Thumb."
Don Kelley is the John Mayall of country. ;)
You are so right. Just think about all of the incredible Tele players that have graduated from his finishing school. Zac
Absolutely, and Ricky Skaggs is the John Mayall of bluegrass
What is the tune at the very end of the video? Awesome interview,Brent Mason has a good sense of humor
Oh,"First rule of thumb" is the name, thanks guys
..?...listen to Jimmy Bryant 'Boogie Man' from '75, sounds just like that first lick he played....unbelievable...
I'm just going to assume this one is a ten part series..... haha!
Only 3, but they are all great. Part 2 to be released Thursday, and part 3 the following Thursday. Subscribe so you don't miss out on the next Lounge episode. Zac
Does anybody know which song he plays at the beginning?
Blowin' Smoke
"Blowin Smoke" off the Hot Wired album. Zac
Thank you guys!!!
Anyone know the name of the song he plays on the outro?
Hope you guys got a two for one deal on the T Shirts...
:-)
Grant, obviously you need to send us some new matching shirts! Zac
The record player is a nice touch.👌
It is our prop. Bob bought it a while back. It has been in every episode
THe BEST!!
Zac...I must say the first time I watched one of your videos I didn't like it. I've done a complete 180. I really like your content. Thank you for all the effort you put into this stuff. I know it must be a lot of work...
Sick
damn that guy is good
Agreed! He can a play a little. Zac

Interviews are uncomfortable for everyone. Those who appear composed and comfortable have most likely been through media training.
Zac, you and Brent look like brothers.
I wish I played like him too! Zac
Which Randy Travis Album is he referring to?
@ ruclips.net/video/EgedgGGFORM/видео.html
He started playing on "Old 8 X 10"
Support the lyrical phrases and the melody.
The Master
Agreed. He has such a great command of the instrument. Zac
Chet Atkins helped Steve Wariner get his start!!!!! Great Guitarist!!!!!
Steve Wariner is one of my favorite players. A Chet Atkins Certified Guitar Player.
Wow, is Brett good or what!
Oh man....
One of the greats, Bet he cant ride a bicycle lol
He might be a biker.......
Zac - didn't you see my bike in the garage? :-D
I saw it but thought it was your daughter's, as it had Beauty and the Beast on it. ;.D
Tommy Pence I heard he can’t dance either
You've got to have amplifiers. You've got to be moving some air, well lots of it really.
If I could play half as good as Brent???? I'd have all the girls!!!
wish my parents played, i play guitar now 30years and just cant get that country finger frigen picking chitten...eeeekkkkk
20:38 Mark Knopfler alert.
Brown mason... I can say that because I'm brown too
A lot of pillows on that sectional.
JUST a homemaker..??? Ohhh boy.. 🤣
