Yes pure class only stumbled on Zac's content in the last few days but it's compelling content. Well researched and fantastic understated interviewing style allows the artists to shine, like a good guitarist knowing when to leave gaps as important as the right notes.
Thank you so much for the Reggie Young interview. Zac Childs conducts incredibly informed interviews with a kind reverence that these wonderful artists deserve. So inspiring! Again, thank you!
God bless you guys for honoring the guitar genius of Reggie Young. Guitar Player Magazine had a very short piece on Reggie recently, but it was pitifully short. This man has forgotten more guitar and recording knowledge than most folks will ever learn. One of my all time favorite guitar players. I would love to meet and speak with him someday, but this is the next best thing.
I just heard of this legend a week ago I’ve been on the hunt for every interview he’s had what a absolute legend in music and guitar and a great humble story teller.
Reggie Young had a great career. He was amongst the most influential from what I believe was the greatest time in contemporary music. I spend many hours trying to learn his riffs.
People, folks, musician friends.....this is absolute GOLD. Thank you Zac and your producers for doing this. Science has it's Einsteins, tech has its Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, finance has their Warren Buffets, sports has their Tiger Woods, Muhammad Alis, Joe Montanas, Wayne Gretzky's,...you get the idea...and we have the Reggie Youngs (among so many other GREATS). To be able to hear these stories from the mouths of those who lived these incredible experiences....well....it's almost too good to be true. THANK YOU!!!!!!
Reggie...no one like him. He set the stage for guitar players in soul, blues, pop, jazz, country...what a touch. Always a champion of the new guys in town...true heart and soul.
Reggie is one of the all-time greats. I love in our Steve Wariner interview where he indicates that it was Chet Atkins idea to have Reggie play on Wariner's records. Zac
Beautiful, insightful interview, this is pure gold. Reggie's stories are fabulous. When the interviewer is this well informed and lets his subject speak, the results are exceptional. Thank you!
One of the greatest session men on the planet! He is such an inspiration to all guitar players including myself. God Bless you Reggie and your new CD is Awesome.....
Reggie Young, my favorite electric guitarist. I never realized I've played so many songs he did the guitar work on. 'Makes me wish I had worked on playing them better! Thanks for doing the interview, Truetone!
Zac, just let me add my thanks to those of others for interviewing and shining the light on the incredible Reggie Young. Guys like him who work their magic mostly in the studios unfortunately often don't get the acclaim and exposure that they deserve. The pros know who he is, but not enough of the public does. Even though they probably have heard a lot of his work! Reggie is such a legend and for good reason. If he'd have hung up his guitar after his tenure at American Studios, and never gone to Nashville, he'd still be deserving of his status as a legend - but just to make sure folks got the message, Reggie conquered Nashville, too, and was a first-call session man there, too, for many years. Thanks for the memories, Reggie and rest in peace....
Thanks. This is wonderful. It helps us see that we do indeed stand upon the shoulders of great musicians that came before us. That helps us all to grow by appreciation of these gifts.
Zac, so many great guests! Thank you so much! Also, your knowledge of the history related to each guest is truly impressive. Watching these interviews is as relaxing as sitting by a warm fire as your kindness and sincerity are palpable. I truly appreciate your work.
Wonderful interview with one of the true legends of guitar. And great job of leading the interview Zac, I'm sure Reggie's stories are endless! I second the comment of best interview show on the internet! Thank you Truetone for sharing.
My favorite Reggie Young solos of all time has to be: "That's the way Love goes" ..Hag, "Anymore" , Travis Tritt, Dobie Gray, "Drift Away", Elvis, "Suspicious Minds", Waylon-All of it. Gary Stewart, All of it! George Strait, All of it! He's my hero! The best of all time! What a hero! Him and Brent Mason formed me! What would Reggie do?
@@mikebrown1479 I spent hours trying to learn that! Even with the music. He was the king of tastefulness, and was very clever, often inventing new bends, which he played as though they were old clichés.
Truetone ,, hav and do, found it this past friday,( jim lills fault)i wear my friends out with this guitar related utube stuff. Now they'll b hearin bout u guys alot. Cheers.
I love Zacs interview style. The fact that Zac has such great insight and experience with the Nashville music and recording world adds great depth to the interviews he does. His knowledge of places and names in the business is second to none. I love the equipment tech talks he does on "Ask Zac". He imparts a wealth of knowledge about guitars, amps, and pedals.
Zac, It's great to see an in depth interview, with such a talented player. He is truly a living legend. Also, i always appreciate, your depth of knowledge, I always learn a lot, from these interviews. Thank you. Looking forward to parts 2, and 3.
Truetone I would love to master that fast pull off guitar lick that Reggie played on Merle Haggard’s I Think I’ll Just Stay Here And Drink towards the end of those song. It’s only on some versions. The only other person I’ve heard play it with that feel was Steve Wariner.. I guess you would know the lick I’m speaking of.
I first became aware of Reggie Young on the early Jimmy Buffett albums where he was a “coral reefer“. Backstage after a Buffett concert in Fort Myers I tried to meet Jimmy by telling security I was Reggie Young. It didn’t work. Rest in peace Mr. Young.
hey zac, really awesome show reggie young is such a legend. would love to see guthrie trapp or kenny greenberg . really enjoying your stuff thanks. keep em coming !!!
Truetone I seriously fell in the rabbithole and watched all 3 episodes. It's hard sometimes for interviewers to keep the interview on track while at the same time giving the artist space to tell their story. Really excellent job.
Love these interviews Zac, you have a great vision for choosing old and new generations players. So much I've picked up on just by watching these. Keep them coming! Maybe Audley Freed one day... 🙌🏽🙌🏽
I greatly appreciate the way Zac let's his guests talk, instead of making the interview all about him, like SO MANY interviewers do...very refreshing !!!!
Drift Away - Dobie Gray's version- is my favourite song of all time. The Reggie Young opening rift signifies to the world that the song is coming on.....what a legend of a player with that magic Les Paul,
Reggie is my hero, I love lots of his solos and parts. There are the ones we all know, like Drift Away, I Can Help, Suspicious Minds. He also played on Son of a Preacher Man and Sweet Caroline, as well as Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink, as well as The Letter by the Box Tops, Angel of the Morning by Merrilee Rush, Down in the Boondocks by Billy Joe Royal, Hooked on a Feeling and Play Another Love Song by B J Thomas.
Thank you for this great interview. I am from Buenos aires, Argentina and I am a big very fan of Reggie! I am a pianist but Reggie's riffs give me goosebumps... As a fan of Jerry Lee Lewis I always wanted to know what was his impression of him as he played on some of Jerry's sessions. Another gretmat one was Joe South who I think he played with him too. Who would be Reggie's favourite artist after all the ones he knew?
If for no other reason than the signature opening riff on Drift Away, have always been a great fan of this magic session player. Doesn't seem, and I may be wrong here, he didn't tour much. Then have read a number of times that he got so much demand for session work that even increasing his rates did not reduce the demand for his stellar talents.
Best show on the internet!
Thank you, Todd! What more can you ask for on the first comment on this labor of love.

We were so glad to get to capture this before his passing in Jan, 2019. He was a great man. Zac
What a fabulous interview with Reggie Young, so full of information and stories from back in the day. Bittersweet
Glad you enjoyed it
Very well done interview I enjoyed hearing all the interesting stories Reggie Young had I look forward to hearing more of them

Also, Haggard's "I Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink"
@@TruetoneFX Another great solo is Strait's "The Fireman" It's a 20 second masterpiece. The way he used open strings way genius.

Such an icon of guitar players. RIP Mr. Young. Your work on earth is done.

Sorry, it was Chip Young. Didn't mean to get the two mixed up. Both were very fine session guitar players.
Thank you for clearing that up.

He is the best!
He was, but so was Glen Campbell and Barney Kessell. Let's just say that he was in that class.

If you close your eyes, Reggie sounds so much like his fellow musician from Arkansas, Levon Helm.
I learned not too long ago that he played on all of the early to mid 70s Jimmy Buffett albums.
Reggie Young will never die; he'll just drift away. (No comments, please. I know he already passed.)

Who was the guy playing at the end ? Beautiful !
