Thank you for this lesson, I learned a lot and this chart will help with my grading.
This is awesome!
Dude this is the 2nd time you've come in clutch for me. I had a wicked RIDICULOUS VLOOKUP to construct and this tutorial was EXACTLY what I needed! The first time you saved me was with your year long budget in google sheets. FOREVER in your debt!
I watched many videos on data validation and this is the one where it clicked for me. Thank you for explaining this so well!
Thank you, this is going to make my budget so much easier!
Been looking for this video for a week. Thanks!
I learned the meaning of Vlookup, and I will really learn how to set up a Vlookup after I use it regularly.
I LOVE YOU BRO, HELPED ME OUT BIGTIME
That False/"" info has just saved me so much sress! Thanks so much man. I was using the standard 'lookup', and was wondering why the second drop down name was returning an 8th result in another column. Subscribed!
Awesome. I’m glad it worked
thank you for your time, but can you explain how to get the report card format on your second tab. I have a data table like you on my first tab. In order to follow your steps in this video, I found myself trying this on a second blank tabs (didn't work), I also tried to open a pivot table in a second tab and follow your instructions (didn't work). Maybe you can start by explaining how to get the data from tab 1 table into a report card format on tab 2?
Nice and clear explanation. I also found out you can use an array to populate all of the columns keeping formula just in one cell. Simply put column numbers in the curly brackets {2,3,4,5} that will do the trick.
Can you please write out an example formula of what this would look like?
Super clear! Thanks!
I just tried this function and it's really incredible👍👍
Thank you. You simply make my day easier. Now, i just need to learn how to embed this sheet on a google site so that parents can look for their children' data.
Great! Glad it worked for you!
I like the way you teach, a short but very useful video. Thanks!!!
You are welcome!
THANK YOU !! I love the way you explain what array is and other parts of formula. Simple English :-) A big thank you
Thank you for the kind words
thank you so much trying to read the instruction from google help well it didn't go well hoping this will work now.
Very eloquent and articulate performance. I am still a newbie in this. How did you create that dropdown menu?
New Subbie here! Thank you so much for sharing 💚 !
Thank you soooooo much!
Helpful video, thanks!
Thanks. Let me know if there are any videos you’d like to see.
Thanks bud!!
thank you so much! :D
thanks my friend!
Great content, I am just curious to know how you created the drop-down list on the EOY sheet
thank you!
So, I don't understand why you selected D11. Isn't that a static data? How do we get dynamic results from that? Please help me, I'm very confused, how did you make it respond to the drop down menu?
this was very helpful. thank you!
Thank you for the kind words! You are welcome!
Nice job. easy to follow your logic
Thank you! Much appreciated!
thank you so much, saved me so much time with my paper work at work lol
Thanks for your kind words! That’s why I do what I do!
@@whyworksmarternotharder now i need a video on a reset button and it to clear some cells lol
James Smallwood it’s on my list very shortly!
Hi since the index had only 5, hence you could count and update the index. however incase if index has more than 50 coloums how do i count . for ex in excel sheet it shows the index number. do we have simlar option in Gsheet ?
Subscribed! Great video
Awesome! Thanks!
Thanks a lot
Great, thank you ❤
Welcome!
Thank you .. It helped me
Welcome!
Can the vlookup can be used from 2 different sheets?
Hi! If I use vlookup to return the email address of the people it works fine BUT if 2 people have the same last name then it's a problem. The first person's email gets returned twice. The 2nd person shows the 1st person's email. There are 60 people wherein some have the same last name and it always gets the 1st person's email.
How can we fix this?
I'm confused... My VLookup formula doesn't look like the one shown here. What steps did you complete to get the data from the first tab in the workbook to display in dropdown format in the second tab?
Excelent! thanks a lot
Thank you for your kind words!!
Much appreciated
where do i get dummy data like the one you used in this tutorial for practice?
When I try and use vlookup I keep getting an error that vlookup is expecting numbers (and not text)?
Hmm. Can you share your formula?
I'm having a lot of trouble. I have a sheet that is connected to a form. It is an application form for employees to sign up and fill in various information. I want to create a dropdown in the main sheet, which will let me select the applicant from the forms responses and then populate all of the cells in the sheet with the answers from the form. The cells in the sheet are not all in a long straight row however. How can I pull the answers from the forms responses and then tell the answers to go to the correct cells?
Great video but one question, how did you create the drop-down selection cell?
I do cover in this video at about the 8:40 mark
ruclips.net/video/WRWg8mpIWpY/видео.html
I looked for the drop down box tutorial in the video you linked starting at 7:30-10 min mark and couldn’t find it.
@Y Sanders @Matthew Finn it's in that video at 4:10 ruclips.net/video/WRWg8mpIWpY/видео.html
Basically you create a drop-down by adding data validation. Think of data validation as setting rules for what "should" be entered in that cell. You can use it to show a warning if there's an entry that doesn't match the options you list, and you can create a drop-down in the cell so people just select from the available options.
How did you create the dropdown please?
Can you also share the file with us so that we can practice afterward.
How’d you make that table with grey border?
Sorry for the delay. I just highlighted the cells around it and colored from the paint can
Is there a separate video explaining how you created the report card with the dropdown to pick from the first tab??
never mind, i learnt how to do it
and another thing i realized, if you don't change the attributes of the search key and range to absolute and you copy the formula across the other cells, it will still show the correct details per student if you don't change the column index
@@justusmunene4641 How did you do it?
hello. where can I find this template so I can practice? tia
What is the Vlookup formula?? how do I get the structure you have on the second tab????
unfortunately it doesn't work in current google sheets, no matter what I do it return error...
What if I have more than 1 student with the same last name, say like JONES? I have been at this for 2 days now! Thanks
Should still work as long as you have a different first name and you tell the formula to look for exact results (FALSE for the last argument)
Student ID?
Hi, I have a problem using vlookup, can you please help me?
Is there a way to find a single word that is found in possible columns and rows? I would like that one word to appear on a separate sheet.
Not sure I completely understand the question. Can you post a screenshot in my Facebook group? facebook.com/groups/344454936502236/?ref=share
How did you do the search of the name?
where did D11 come from?
Vlookup doesn’t work for me. I keep seeing either VALUE or ERROR or N/A or something like that. And my f4 just increases my brightness. Someone help! 😭
What country are you in? Sometimes you need to use a, instead of a;
You showed how VLOOKUP works but didn’t show how to make the automated score card. We don’t know how to get that drop down on the second sheet 🤷♂️
I’ll drop a short this afternoon!
it doesn't work! :(
