my friends used the Radar booster as Lightning rods when there are thunderstorms. When we carry big metal object and we are near one of the boosters, it usually strikes the booster instead.
Radar Boosters would definitely be nice if they worked with the Teleporter, but I think they'd be amazing if the Inverse Teleporter also worked for them. Being able to just deploy several of them into the facility at once without having to waste time, manpower, and inventory space... because as of now the Radar Booster's utility isn't worth the effort that has to be put into utilizing it.
I didn't even think of using the inverse tp! If they both worked that would be great though because you're right, you could just ping them to send you team to the loot, and after you finish you could tp them back out. There's so much potential for the radars I hope more is added to them soon :]
Honestly compared to the other items in the game so far I feel that radar boosters have the most potential for future updates. In my group I mainly am the one who uses the computer so I've been using radar boosters like this: 1) To help those in the building find the exit through pings since my group does get lost pretty easily 2) extend my own vision range outside the ship this is especially useful on maps where visibility is limited and in the fog weather where you can ping your radar to help guide crew back to the ship 3) keep eyes on the entrance. This patch there seems to be a lot of instances where either a turret or monster spawns at the main entrance and having one of the team drop the radar beacon lets me quickly co-ordinate disabling it to allow movement. I can imagine how this thing could change the game with additions like being able to input macro commands into them like having one that can open and close specific doors without needing the computer person to manually do it or releasing a ping to the computer when it encounters a a hostile target.
That's actually quite a good idea! And yeah, I was hoping you could like string ping all the radars.. not for use but just so I could get them to all say "hello!" at the same time lol
i honestly love the presentation of the video. not only did you go at length to perform research and present your findings, but you did so in a really enjoyable and well formatted way. the writting is really excellent. subscribed, hope to see more from you.
I feel they could be good for t3 runs, have the comms guy set a side grid around the ship, that way he can still talk without worrying about a suprise visit by a dog
Theres a monitor next to the companion one. It shows the outside so If you see a big black/green blotch coming then drop the walkie-talkie and not move or talk. You should have enough time for that. You may also awkwardly place shelves to slow his path.
Radar Boosters have a LOT of potential as items. Right now, there are just a few things that hold them back from being useful, mainly that they can’t be used with the different teleporters. I think that by increasing their radar range and making them teleporter compatible, they’d be an incredibly good tool for the GITC. -Use a booster as bait for dogs -Set up a communication system for those without radios to send messages / warnings -Watch the entrance zone with additional range -Inverse Teleport into the facility and ping to draw players towards loot All of these options above seem like great utility options for the booster, but until they are reworked to be stronger, they aren’t possible. If needed, the booster could have it’s price jacked up to match its greater usability; better to be useful and expensive than useless and cheap, since players won’t use something just because it’s cheap. And it’s not even that cheap! EDIT: The new update has absolutely made Radar Boosters viable. Giving them a flashbang function is something I never would have thought to do, but I guess that kind of out-of-the-box thinking is why Zeekers is a wildly successfully indie developer and I'm not XD
it would be cool to have a ship upgrade that enables you to set macro commands in the terminal with the on-site player's location as the variables for example, you can create a macro command that automatically opens and closes the door as the players go near them. or you can ping the radar booster with text-to-speech so the operator can somehow still interact with the player who just got into the site using inverse tp
I've found them somewhat useful as beacons in the more mazy parts of the facility. I bring one with me to the entrance, drop it there, then when I find the twisty passages I place it at a crossroads in view of the path back to help guide me. A few times now I've felt the panic of being completely lost only to see that brilliant light reaching out to me and guiding me back to the warm embrace of familiar territory. Their ping ability assists in this, allowing a person back in the ship to help a lost teammate even when no one has a walkie-talkie (We've started using coded movements to signal certain things, such as the "Wiggle of Distress" or the "Spin of I'm lost"). 50 company credits seems expensive, but my group is usually swimming in cash after the first couple quotas. More than enough to afford one per day to abandon in the facility (Sometimes, we even risk our lives to bring them back in an effort to not "Abandon a valuable ally to the darkness of the facility"). That was my first thought on how to use them and it's weird to me that I haven't seen anyone else try this yet.
In our 2 Player game they are useful as "put one in the stairs to be aware if somethings go your way because I can only can see the floor you are in" Very specific set up that when a third player enters they aren't needed anymore, but there is that
I don't really think so but also I didn't super thoroughly test it so maybe! If you somehow can I might change my opinion on them cause leading giants away would be awesome
@@SpaghettieSalad And honestly something sorely needed since giants rn are literally the most difficult and dangerous monster to deal with in the game.
Something me and my friends have started doing is using the boosted as an infinite flashlight. When on theyre super bright, have no battery, and are the cost of the pro flashlights anyways. If one person has that and everyone else has normal flashlight were usually fone
The whole time did just ignore that the radar booster gives you a whole screen to look at? Usually you’ll only have 4 camera to switch to because 4 players. But you can add more with radar boosters. I use them to put around the ship so I can see more if monsters are near. You can put them in the routes you take to and from the facility and use it to monitor for monsters: like 2 is the most I’ll use tho. If you have extra cash then yes the radar is a good investment if you have nothing else to waste money on
They can definitely be helpful, I'm just scared that I'll lose them cause I don't want to risk going back out to get them haha. That's why if they worked with the teleporter I think they'd be alot more efficient. Not saying you can't use them though, play whichever way's the most fun for you :]
It could be useful to move dogs away because to use the radio you need to speak into it which could get you killed from that, so instead it might be a good way to move them away and then use another walkie to move them away, plus you can have eyes on dogs
Using the walkie talkie in this scenario means buying one for $12, as the ice cream man will lure the dogs and doesn't require you to setup the lure in advance
I thought the radar boosters would have a massive range increase to the player, but nah they just kinda suck, if they had a far bigger range than normal outdoors (atleast 2x) or had the ability to be teleported in and out they'd be actually worthwhile
they are a bit more responsive than buying an item in a pinch when getting dogs away from the ship. And you can get them on sale for 15 credits I think, worth picking up in that case.
Radar boosters are neat for navigation inside but that is it recovering them is a pain but say a thumper is chasing you and no shovel then ping it and the thumper will go to it nice bait
You can flash monsters nonstop for free and the jester will take twice the time to wind up if the operator spams flashes it. Make some reaserch gosh dang it
@@FXTrader247it’s an unlimited flashbang, One player carrying it can stun lock any enemy while their friend shovels it to death. Also, the dogs tactic works if you keep it to the right of the ship door, you can ping to distract dogs for your crew to sneak in. Then flash and steal the booster back before you go
I feel like radar boosters should show significant more range on the cameras. And being able to teleport them back would be nice.
Or even use the inverse teleporter on one
