Great video guys and good job! You are certainly blessed with good water critters but do work for them as well. I use 5' bamboo garden stakes for my floats to keep them in place. Cheap and easy to stack and carry. The last couple of years with low water up here in Manitoba I have held off in addition to low market value. Cheers!
My brother in law trapped rats back in the early 70's and that was the money for his school clothes and spending. He lived on a farm with a ditch that ran through it. I have never trapped. I was a trailer park kid, my dad was career military. Trapping always fascinated me. It is too bad that furs don't bring much anymore. There is a need for trapping to keep many species healthy and under control. I hope you guys have a great season.
Oh those water years of 2010-12 and rat and 12$ rats. And 100 animal days.... If you make a upper-deck mod then you dont get blocked doors. Glad that Matt is buying. Did you sell on his Wisc run yesterday ?
Yup, those where good ones! Yes the upper deck mod is good but we like to put a 4" and a 5" in a 6" like a 3 pack. Yes he bought all of our fur the last 3 years now.
Wouldn't take much to fill a dump trailer. My friend and I caught over 100 on 9 acres. Fed the bobcat, coyote, cougar and birds. Kind of slow with two live catch traps. Sometimes 2 at a time in one trap. Food before and after the trigger.

That is awesome! We use 10-12' bamboo stakes in the fall rat trapping too. They work great in tall cattails!
@@outofthewoodyard ha ha didnt realize you could find stakes that tall.
@@loneranger8293 You can't! We took 6' ones and duct taped them together to 10' and some we added small thin 4' ones on top too!
@@outofthewoodyard crazy ginormous catails!!!
Love those multiple catches in the colony traps!

Man that was some tough walking.I remember having to take the door off my box traps because the rats were packed in so tight.
Yup, they can get packed in sometimes!
Love your videos! Can you do a video on how you make your rat floats?
It is already on my list!!!
Happy Trapping😊s
It always is! Better that being a 5 year old on Christmas morning!!
@@outofthewoodyard 😁😁😁
I use to make my floats out of little popular logs they'd chew the crap out of them lol .
Yup, they like green wood!
Good vid Chris 👍🏻, maybe start working on Kenny to do a mink trapping vid next fall
That would be cool!

Can't tell your brothers lots of banter keep on trapping
Yup, the banter is mandatory! Thanks!
nice
Thanks!
Whats the hardest thing to trap
Probably coyotes.
Are racoons worth catching?
Maybe ...not like they used to be...I have heard $5-10 at best.
