    Whisky.com reviews the Ledaig 10 years. This Ledaig from the Tobermory distillery is a really smoky and complex malt that could have come from the island of Islay. Ledaig means something like "safe haven".

    I believe Ledaig has around 40ppm peating level. It's certainly a heavily peated whisky.

    Good backup for talisker 10 this ledaig 10 👍💯

    • @DougPaulley
      @DougPaulley 2 года назад +1

      I like both very much, but I think there's a distinct difference: the Talisker is more peppery.
      I love Ledaig.

      @@DougPaulley yup. Other than the pepper character note, the structure to me is quite similar

    • @assassinierer47
      @assassinierer47 2 года назад

      Both are really good, but the Ledaig 10 feels more honest to me due to no chill filtration and no added coloring.

    • @onYTsince2008
      @onYTsince2008 2 года назад

      @@assassinierer47 Incorrect, there is colouring in it. You probably do not know about the previous batch, it used to be pale gold in colour. The fact that this one has a serious "orange glow" to it can only mean adulteration to it....colour has been added, they just do not mention it.... It's the exact same situation with Deanston 12, Tobermory 12....

  • @onYTsince2008
    @onYTsince2008 2 года назад +6

    But it's TOO bad Distell group decided to add to add caramel colouring e150a to this whisky. If you know about how pale gold the previous batch used to be, prior to this batch being released, you can tell by the "orange glow" that there is colour added to it. To me, that's a turn off.

       @YB! From the distillery website product description: "As with all our single malts, this peated Ledaig is non-chill filtered and natural colour. Bottled at 46.3% and produced using peated (30-40ppm) concerto barley."

    • @tolga1cool
      @tolga1cool 2 года назад +3

      @@Ardbeg1964 it's not written on the bottles / boxes anymore, so I'd take the info on the website with a grain of salt.
      Edit: just go over to ralfys channel and watch his 7 year old video about the ledaig 10. You'll see the pale straw color. The difference is pretty large

    • @JonathanRL98
      @JonathanRL98 4 месяца назад

      @@tolga1coolWell, you are wrong. The colour differs because every cask is different. Ledaig 10 is not artificially coloured, end of story.

    • @DougPaulley
      @DougPaulley 2 года назад

      Possibly? I find the 10yo more astringent than e.g. their 1996, but not as sharp as e.g. Port Charlotte
