Their entire core range is well worth the hype. The 10 can go against any of the Islay 10y olds... well, maybe Port Charlotte is a notch above, but it's Port Charlotte. The Rioja doesn't feel much younger than the 10 and it also has that lovely influence from the... you guessed it, rioja. hahaha... and the 18 is just amazing. so well matured, peaty, salty, sweet, fruity, round and just perfect. I heard their special releases usually fall short to the core range options.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and memories... but especially your emotions about whisky. So many whisky channels are flat & factual. But hey, if you enjoy Scotch, and you're not excited when you drink a new and beautiful expression, then you probably don't have a pulse! Ledaig 10 is on my short list of things to buy. But which do you prefer-- this, or Port Charlotte 10?

I love this stuff. I vote for this to be the whisky of every year. I didn't know anything about Port Ellen Maltings when I drank my first bottle. But the malt notes on the finish seared the word Tobermory in my brain. It's not everywhere in the US but I'm powerless to keep my wallet closed when I see those words: Ledaig and Tobermory.
I can safely say that you don't have to spend more than $60 to get the best peated whisky. I'll keep looking for the 18 and any independent bottles because there is something magical happening on the Isle of Mull.

I concur with the Malt Activist. It is a crisp whiskey where all of the tasting notes do not step on top of each other. If Arran did a peated whiskey then the result would be similar to this dram. Thanks for the videos MA.

I'm fond of the Ledaig 10 but I don't think it's worth the hype. That's not to demean it in any way but I think it belongs to a group of very fine 10 year old whiskies which prove that great age and expense does not mean better whisky. I'd like for you to do a review of the 18 which is very good. My limited experience of independent Ledaig has been positive as well.

@@steveno7058 I do like it and it's great value but my last bottle of Talisker 10 was £30. It has a very particular flavour profile which ticks all the right boxes for me so we don't disagree. I just think it's enjoying a bit of mini-hysteria right now and we don't want to see that bumping up the price. Cheers. WT

I am from Ontario and I can say it is the worst province in the worst country in the world if your into good scotch whisky. Worst selection and generally highest prices on earth. There is absolutely no excuse for Canada's largest province to rarely have Ledaig 10 in stock and or in limited supply. Luckily I managed about 3 bottles a few years ago when it was briefly available.

Ralfy influence for sure. Same thing happened to Arran products once they were talked about by Ralfy and others.
