    I have been waiting for your review since the release and it was worth it. For me this is the best review of this car. It is not just the car or just the production values that bolster the effect - it is the symbiosis between the two that you are able make. Great car, great comments, great camera work, great setting, and ofc, great Autobahn.

      I've finally driven the car. And it's a great car for Autobahn, can't imagine anything better. It peaks at approx 267 km/h, but unlike model 3 performance - you can keep going at that speed for some time (not been able to test for how long), but much longer than Model 3 that throttles towards 200 km/h after less than 10 seconds.

And usually after a few seconds at top speed, they would naturally fall back to about 130 maybe 140 kph, and be happy. The accidents I saw were blood baths. Sometimes TOO MUCH is TOO MUCH.

    I noticed some of your comments concerning drive modes (P,R,N,D) and speed limit sign recognition might be effected by being a model released in the German market and a result of local regulations or software constraints. In the U.S. (where I am) the S will automatically choose which direction to move in without pressing a button or swiping on screen. Also, when driving in autopilot, my Tesla will adjust its cruise control speed to fit the current speed limit automatically.

    • @VoxelLoop
      @VoxelLoop Год назад +1

      The issue we find in the EU and UK is that the speed limit sign recognition isn't very accurate at the moment. It tends to see the speed limit sign on the entrance to roads running off yours and will switch to the speed limit to those.
      For the set speed in cruise and Autopilot, it will never adjust higher than what you have set, only lower or return to what was set before. Say you go from 40 to 30 then back to 40, that'll work, but if you hit a national speed limit (60 in the UK) then it won't make that change. :)
      As of today, the car will not adjust the speed limit for variable speed limits or any speed limits signs on highways to avoid false slow downs, it will display them on-screen though.

    • @TheAeroegg
      @TheAeroegg Год назад +1

      My Plaid is about 3 months old so it's the latest iteration. When I go into Autopilot most of the time it doesn't drop my speed to the speed limit. I did a 4,700 mile road trip through several states during Thanksgiving week and it seems there were only a few stretches of road where Autopilot limited my speed to the speed limit.

    • @richardcomerford1828
      @richardcomerford1828 Год назад +1

      @@autogefuehl Cameras plus AI equals predictive direction choices. The car tells you that, since your facing a garage door, that it believes reverse is the best choice. The driver confirms this by pressing on the brake. Of course, it might not always make the correct choice for you and that is why the on screen selection is there. If the screen doesn’t work, no problem, you’ve got buttons too. Likely that ability has not been enabled in all countries.

    Glad you have Autobahn! 💥The screen tilting towards the driver is one of the best features in modern cars because most of us drive our cars with screen being basically turned away from the driver at a neutral angle towards the middle of the vehicle, which is completely wrong I think. BMW and now Tesla approach to screen tilt is much better 😎 By the way, I love that engine roar during acceleration is missing, because you will now be surrounded by REAL acceleration noise, such as wind speed, tire sound, wind noise and etc

    Excellent presentation Thomas, always enjoying Autogefuhl!
    The Model S, with computing power of ten (10) teraflops, has come long way through all these years. Still an upgrade on the brakes is needed I believe! The car has a low center of gravity and a long wheelbase, thus, the rear brakes work harder than a usual car. The regen is not always the best option and extra braking power is needed. So far the progress for Model S is impressive, remember some years ago, the harsh critics from the auto industry... and now the competition is running to meet the level of Tesla...

    There was an electric vehicle expo this past weekend here in Central Florida. I dropped by and was able to test drive a Model S and a Model Y Performance. Both interesting cars. But the Model S (not a Plaid) was amazingly fast. I currently own a 2020 C8 Corvette and there is no way it would keep up with the Model S. I can't imagine how fast the Plaid is. I think I could be satisfied with the Model S (non-Plaid) quite nicely, but I am still fascinated with the Plaid.

    Note: This Model S Plaid still has a limiter on it! The car is capable of 200 mph (320 kph) BUT... requires the special kit of special brakes and some other body enhancements. Costed at around another $30-40,000. Sadly, the brakes on this model barely match the performance and tend to overheat when the car is pushed hard. So, that's why it is limited to around 165 mph. Any faster requires car adjustments to match.

    • @johnwilson5743
      @johnwilson5743 Год назад

      Sorry, forgot to add... the kit includes more advanced tyres as well as better brakes. Sadly, the total kit is not yet available from Tesla and they haven't given a release date. @@Acevolt Hi Michael. Well, good news about the cost of those brakes! BUT... in order to more safely allow the car to hit top speed of just over 210mph (335kph) the car needs special, high performance tyres also. These are NOT cheap! That's why the original package proposed by Tesla ( a few years ago) was around $30-45 thousand as a package that included the Carbon/ceramic ?? brakes PLUS special tyres PLUS a body modification as well. I've been watching this closely. That "package" is to be automatically included in the new Roadster that is meant to have a top speed of around 250+ mph. Cheers.

What I experienced felt like some sort of video game with aliens flying into my face, only in this case it was trees and other vehicles flying at me. I wound up passing on the purchase of the Y because, even the long-range version, had a suspension so stiff it almost rattled the teeth out of my mouth (and I understand that the Model Y performance version has an even stiffer suspension than the one I drove).
