- A year ago we purchased an 1899 abandoned home with NO KITCHEN! After months of waiting for a $36,000 kitchen order for our dream kitchen we came to realize we no longer could live here with no kitchen since it was SO delayed with no ETA. The house didnt have a bad kitchen it had no kitchen since previous owners ripped it out. We decided to research and build our own DIY KITCHEN on a budget. We took half the deposit for the original kitchen order $5000 and set that as a goal budget to accomplish this dream space. It took us a few months and a lot of love but here we are standing in our dream kitchen. Best of all we stayed in budget spending $5125.00 total! (this budget even includes a pantry/laundry room we are working on off of this room!)

Just found your channel. When you said you saved on your kitchen I expected you bought discount prefab cupboards and not making it completely yourself. Wow so impressed and you both are very smart and talented. I too enjoyed the music and nature clips. What’s most apparent is the loving teamwork and perseverance. I was handy in the house in every way except repairing things and building things. In fact my ex-husband I always called him MacGyver lol. We are talking the original MacGyver lol. Over 30 years ago about one of my five children wrote a paper on her dad and called him MacGyver in it and she won a contest in area town for it. You make him look like he couldn’t fix anything. Absolutely amazing job! Living in your space while trying to demolish and rebuild your dream kitchen is not an easy task. You have done this with such a positive attitude even when you faced many frustrating challenges. Most viewers wouldn’t appreciate your remoteness and how far you have to travel to pick up material and supplies and the time and money it takes to do this. The kitchen is often the heart of the home and you brought it back to life.

The stove vent cover would have been spectacular if you'd done the design like your sink island! This is nice, but think about it. It would be more beautiful if it was the stained rustic wood. Beautiful job you 2! Love ❤ it!

The first video I ever watched you were picking random "treasures" from the town dump and upcycling them to sell......fast forward several years and you've accomplished this amazing kitchen reno, after all the other rooms you've already "rebuilt" in your new "old" home, after relocating halfway across Canada.
