- If you like boats, blower surge, and cackle sounds and that unmistakable blower motor lope, this video is just for you. I've spent a lot of time around these bad ass boats as I've shot them over the years, so I thought I would put together a little compilation of the best engine sounds on the planet. Not everyone appreciates the sound of these monster machines, but those who do, know what its all about.

Greta is only a Kid, some of her ideas & approaches r OK. But 95% r completely unsustainable. If she cried 4 a month our many tissues did she use. 😭😢 That'ed be a few tree's she would have 2 replant. 😀😀. She wont fly so that might keep her out of the usa 4 a while. At 6:47 boat 389 is a Santini paint job. It's amazing how you can tell his work. Fantastic! There's only a handful of great boat painters left. RIP Dick Vale and Bill Carter. Santini in Westminster Ca. and Billy B in Upland Ca. continue to carry the torch. These two know "The look" and know great use of color. Their work withstands the test of time, too. None of that "Mini truck" crap or stuff that looks dated. Remember black and white checkers incorporated into graphics on every boat 10 to 15 years ago? Yuck.

My neighbors growing up raced Top Fuel Hydros, used to fire the boat up from time to time, loved it. Bob & Jerry Fulgham Hillbilly boat. Miss him terribly.

Is that boat at 3:12 running on nitro? It kinda sounds a little bit like it starts off on methanol then switches over to nitro partway through... Or is it on methanol the entire time and just crackles like that because of the fact that the camera is at the angle where the zoomies are pointed on the one side?
Yes, it was switched over after startup. You could smell it.

Is the "blower surge" a bad thing? I've read some comments like "itsbbecause it has a really bad fuel tunnel". IDK because when they run the race, they absolutely fly! So, how could it be bad?

No. Some say it’s hard on the bearings and such, but for most it’s a an acceptable allowance. It’s caused by the air/fuel mixture going from rich to lean in a cycle during idle. At speed, the fuel is leveled out so it runs at normal RPM
It's easy to tune it out with a hat, just set the idle about 3500RPM. Mine idles at 500 to 2000 + on the surge. :-)

No... at idle the "Roots Blower is Hunting" these engines r over driven on the blower. Would still occur if underdriven, but not aa pronounced.
If a big Whipple Blower was used u wouldn't have the Hunting.
No it isn't a bad thing. Its just the nature of these Blowers. Its a PSI BLOWER. I dont know a lot about them. I just know u pay big $$$ 4 them. A lot of drag cars & boats use them.

Absolutely! However, Blown Alcohol is usually relegated to drag racing cars. Not street legal or practical for daily daily driver cars.
Just cross 2 spark plug wires and cut the exhaust off.

VERY NICE!! That hydro sure sounded like it was running Nitro had one very nasty sharp cackle. Thats the type of boat that would be extremely unforgiving if the driver didnt know what the heck was going on!! Extremely impressive!

@@ooozooo7333 No, but it's only that, loud and slow. Loud and a waste of fuel. Like a Harley. Only company that has been able to turn gas into noise without the side effects of power or speed. Hence my "gay" comment. V-drive with half the horsepower is faster and better than a vacuum....

How do you get the supercharger surge going?
It’s an air/fuel mixture thing. Read some of the other comments and it’ll explain.
