Hey guy, I'm back! I've been away for a bit working on various projects, including this review. This is the first video of the CRLS Light Bridge, so comment your questions or ideas you have regarding this unique piece of lighting kit.

Hey Nate! The system looks pretty interesting in general, and I think you showcased it in a really clear and objective way, so thanks for that! How would you say the Diffusion 4 compares to a similar sized softbox from the same distance? I haven't seen comparisons like this done yet

Hey, thanks Saulo! Short answer is, it's different. You can imagine the shadows will have the same harshness as bouncing from a similar sized foam core. But the light spread gives it a softer look, but you have more control of the light's direction and spill. Arguably, this could be a more natural look. I think I need to experiment with it more, thanks for the reminder!

Very nice comparison! I'm curious to know how these reflector are effective with direct sunlight. For instance, at broad daylight, if I'm backlighting my subject, is Diffusion 4 will have enough strength to bounce back the light? Or will you go with the Diffusion 3 or even 2 ? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on using them outside with the sun. Thanks!

Thanks Chuck! Yes the Diffusion 4 I think is enough for you case. I tested both and I liked how Diff 4 looked. Diff 3 really brought the output and I could reduce my exposure and bring out the colors in the sky! Of course the bigger size you have will also effect output

@@NatesFilmTutorials thanks for your input. But, seems like Diffusion 4 has a ton of spread, so I'm still wondering if its the right choice since you don't really need to spread the light that much around and being your subject....its bugging me cause don't see anyone using them outside with the sun, only inside in a controlled environment with a light source.

So the question is, for the money are these worth it or do you think your diy reflectors are suitable for most users? 🤔🤔🤔

Great question! I don't believe a DIY approach can match the level of control and results. If I were assembling my lighting setup, this wouldn't be my first purchase. Foam core, unbleached muslin, and shower curtains can take you quite far. However, unless you have a clear plan for utilizing the Lightbridge system, it's an excellent tool for achieving naturalistic lighting control, albeit at a cost.
