Perfect timing, just lit one up - this is the perfect vibe. You can't imagine what it was like, buying these albums as soon as they came out, sitting on the floor with the album liner, playing the songs over and over while reading the words - and 50 years later, I still remember them and the words to the songs.

Just talking about this to someone younger the other day. How we got the words by playing it over and over again. Good Times.

That’s what makes Led Zeppelin so fantastic, all the different genres they did, each song you never know what you’ll get. Most bands don’t do different types of songs, or even do them as great as LZ does. You have so many more songs to explore, & you need to do some amazing live performances too. The improvising they do in lives, enhances some songs so much. They are a hard band to pick a top ten from, because there’s so many great songs. Are you going to love every one of them, I’d say NO, but there certainly won’t be many you don’t care for. I only have two that I’m not crazy about, I won’t say I hate them, just at the bottom of my list. Thank you for your reaction.

Great tune. A masterpiece. Roberts idea of it came after watching the 1978 World Cup in which Argentina won the cup. That’s where the whistle and samba come in. Robert is a huge soccer fan and is on the board on his home team Wolverhampton Wanderers.

This whole album is great, but this is in the middle of a three song trifecta on side a, in the middle of the side, that I really love playing together. The one right before this, Southbound Suarez, is heavily piano-driven, and it just makes you want to move. And then in the middle is this one, fool in the rain, which is an absolute masterpiece. And after it is a fun little high spirited Honky Tonk thing called hot dog, but the lyrics are hilarious and I feel like Robert Plant is channeling some early rockabilly Elvis Presley here. But I would highly recommend to listen to those other two. As well as a massive hit from the other of the record album All of My Love.

Unlike earlier Led Zeppelin albums, In Through the Out Door was dominated musically by bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones. It was the band's last release before the death of their drummer John Bonham in September 1980 and their disbandment three months later.
The album was named by the group to describe its struggles after the death of Robert Plant's son Karac in 1977, and the taxation exile the band took from the UK. The exile resulted in the band being unable to tour on British soil for more than two years, and trying to get back into the public mind was therefore like "trying to get in through the 'out' door."
In contrast to previous Led Zeppelin albums, In Through the Out Door features much greater influence on the part of bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones and vocalist Robert Plant, and relatively less from drummer John Bonham and guitarist Jimmy Page, who often failed to show up on time at the recording studio. Bonham was struggling with alcoholism and Page was battling heroin addiction. Jones later said, "there were two distinct camps by then, and we [Plant and I] were in the relatively clean one." Many of the songs were consequently put together by Plant and Jones during the day, with Page and Bonham adding their parts late at night. Jones was inspired by the Yamaha GX-1 synthesizer he had recently purchased, and he was "working closely with Robert, which was something that had not happened before.

I'm so glad you got to this and yes I did recommend it probably multiple times, laugh. Plus several others off this final album before John Bonham died and we would get no more albums from them. They were evolving so rapidly, it's such a shame.
I had a huge grin on my face when we hit that middle Calypso section or whatever it is, and yeah the parade whistles always remind me of Rio.
But you were already digging that incredible beat that John Bonham was laying down, it's a shuffle, and I could see as it was starting to head into the middle section, I could tell that you were already starting to feel it even though you didn't realize it yet. And so you were right on top of it when it hit and you immediately locked in with it. I loved seeing the glee on your face and I felt it in my heart at the same time. That's wonderful.

This album was a departure from their other albums and a lot of Zep fans didn't like it but I had it on cassette and loved it. If you liked this song, check out "Hot Dog" from the same album. You'll love it.

My fav ZEP album. I believe that "Carouselambra" is their masterpiece. I know this is a very minority opinion. But after about 50 years of enjoying LZ, it has become the most listenable. The entire album is FIRE.

I’ve been attempting to play the song correctly since it came out
I finally came to the brilliant conclusion that I don’t play like John Bonham. 😂

This whole album is incredible, I love every song (ok, except Hot Dog, even though I get what they were doing, lol), have played it front to back many, many times. Jimmy Page & John Bonham were both deep into their addictions & didn't participate in the writing part of this album at all, really, so this is John Paul Jones & Robert Plant's baby. You can see the evolution and how we're getting closer to the 80s here. Yes, it's different, but still great. And many think it's one of Bonham's best albums for his drumming, that's why Dave Grohl picked it as his favorite LZ album.

    - This was largely a JPJ/Plant album, as Jimmy was often AWOL w/ alcohol and heroin abuse (at least that's how the story goes).
    - Personally, I find it to be an enjoyable, "different" Zeppelin offering.
