One fact everyone seems to overlook, is the ammount of power to charge an EV. Simply put, power is needed to "push" the amperhours into the battery. Imagine 20% of people in America having an EV and starting to charge their EV in the evening, just to have it ready for a moring commute to work. 10kW is the standard charger rating. 20% of people is 200 mln. That is 2000 GW of power. One Atomic Power Plant produces 10 GW. There are 93 atomic power plants in the USA today...
@afro8859 discusses the amount of power that it takes to charge an EV. That is true. What stops me from purchasing an EV is the time that it takes to charge the EV. I can extend the range of my gasoline powered car by 300 miles at a gas station. Time required 8 minutes. It takes longer to extend the range of an EV by 300 miles. No body wants to spend 15 minutes along the side of the road, waiting for their EV charge up so that you can travel an additional 300 miles. I would be willing to purchase an EV once I can extend the range of an EV by 300 miles within an 8 minute period of time, just like a gasoline powered car.
@JohnGraceBR Thank you for sharing your thoughts on EVs. The time it takes to charge is indeed a common concern for many.
