@@enriquetovar9629 Sure thing! We Catholics believe purgatory is a state the soul enters to be fully purified--through Christ--before going on to Heaven. So even the "least deserving" can get to God, as long as they wish to. You don't have to already be perfect (no one is). And so it gives Tyler hope, cause he still has a chance. That's my poor way of putting it!

    Will you pray for me
When the roots of the oak
    And my ribcage are braidin’
    If I can think
Lord knows that I will fondly pray for you
High on the hill where the fox horns blow
And down in the grave where they lay me low
    Catholic girl, pray for me
You’re my only hope for heaven
    When I's a boy
I’d drink and love and smoke and snort my fill
    But all the while
I kept in mind the lord’s redeeming grace
High on the hill where the fox horns blow
And down in the city where the heathens go
    Catholic girl, pray for me
You’re my only hope for heaven
Do you reckon he lets Free Will Boys mope around in purgatory
    I know that hell
Is just as real as I am surely breathin’
    But I’ve heard tell
Of a middle ground, I think will work for me
When the time has come for changin' worlds
I’ll hedge my bets with a catholic girl
    Catholic girl, pray for me
You’re my only hope for heaven

Being catholic i Understand a deeper meaning of this song. In Catholic belief the only way to go from purgatory to heaven is if someone who is Catholic who knows you prays for you enough to go to heaven so he’s pleading with the girl that he broke up with to save his soul which I find amazing

    • @natjap123
      @natjap123 Год назад +1

I agree! Except, even if someone who isn’t Catholic decides one day to pray for someone who has died, God still hears their prayer. How God responds to that prayer is up to him, of course. I’m grateful to be a cradle Catholic, and it’s lovely to see a fellow Catholic in the comments! ❤ Purgatory is God’s mercy.

    Lovin this song!
    "Purgatory"
    Will you pray for me
When the roots of the oak
    And my ribcage are braidin'
    If I can think
Lord knows that I will fondly pray for you
High on the hill where the fox horns blow
And down in the grave where they lay me low
    Catholic girl, pray for me
You're my only hope for Heaven
    When I's a boy
I'd drink and love and smoke and snort my fill
    But all the while
I kept in mind the Lord's redeeming grace
High on the hill where the fox horns blow
And down in the city where the heathens go
    Catholic girl, pray for me
You're my only hope for Heaven
Do you reckon he lets Free Will
    Boys mope around in purgatory
    I know that Hell
Is just as real as I am surely breathin'
    But I've heard tale
Of a middle ground, I think will work for me
When the time has come for changin' worlds
I'll hedge my bets with a Catholic girl
    Catholic girl, pray for me
You're my only hope for Heaven

A guy introduced me to Tyler Childers. We talked but never met. He ended things. We listened to this song, I said "we are never eating ar Bob Evans." He said, "never!" He ended our friendship but I miss him. It's been only a week but I am still here listening and probably never will. 😥
