Oh man it's been awhile since I've seen something new from Colter. Dude's really turned into a cowboy, reminds me of my great papa who drove and hauled cattle for a living. Tougher than all hell with a deep ass laugh like that. He's 91 and just last year finally had to call it quits due to cancer
@@isaacbates6563 No he hasn't, go back to the old days when sleeping on the blacktop came out. He was just a kid back then. Compare then to now. Back then he was a young premiers son. A cowboy is someone who works a ranch for a living.
@@5koby4 point me in the direction of that info so that I may rid of my current notion. I'm aware his cousin got him a job at a feed farm but the man was a city boy. I've been a ranch hand here and there and I know that doesn't make me cowboy. Hence my original comment "dude's really turned into a cowboy."
How fucked up is it that a Canadian is far more country than anything in Nashville, the supposed capital of country music. He's a rare treasure and I'm glad he's keeping the real, working man's country alive
Canada has a rich history of cowboys. Nashville does not. Nashville is basically Hollywood for Country music. Colter doesn’t have any desire to be in Nashville. He’s a cowboy.
I agree! I missed his younger raspy tone for a while, but I think this one sounds so much more mature. He was always good but has gotten so much better the last several years.
I’ve listened to this 5,000 times the last week. My favorite version of the song. That says a lot considering George, Merle, Willy, Lefty, Keith all recorded this tune. I hope this makes the next colter wall record, exactly like this
Tremendous. Those of us who appreciate real authentic music in the west are hungry for tunes like these. Played in barns. Played with ranchers from down the road. Played atop old feed buckets. Thank you.
I could list a bunch of artists I'd call favorites, and a whole lot more I like too, but there's something special about Colter. The sentiment that you wish you could know when you're living the good times seems fitting, as I feel like I'm able to fully appreciate just how great he is in the present, while he's still building his legacy.
If there ever was a person I’d like to be it be him. Man that voice and his background. Dudes so down to earth and hands down one of the best artists out right now.
Every time I hear Colter sing I am blown away. My mind imagines Sam Elliott in a movie cowboy scene. I hear Colter saying beef it’s what’s for dinner. His voice just so stereotypical of what I imagine a cowboy’s voice should sound like.
Man this was amazing, his voice is perfectly suited to this song. I've heard Lefty Frizzell, Whiter Schaefer, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Gene Watson, Keith Whitley, Mark Chesnutt, Daryle Singletary, Sturgill Simpson, and Creed Fisher sing this song and this is one of the absolute best I've ever heard. I have probably heard every studio recording of it, and this is definitely one of the best, Merle had the potential to record an unbeatable version but chose to be a bit reserved which held it back a notch. I'm not sure if there's really anybody out there today who can really put the feeling into a song and sing it like they've lived it as well as Colter wall can.

I don't know if I'll ever decide if I like Colter's refined sound more than his early outlaw-ish tone when he was just getting started, but this was mighty fine! That mustache is looking glorious, too! I'd love to meet this ol boy one day for he's the namesake of my 2yr old son.
Mr Colter Wall’s music is magical and helped me through some hard times. So grateful for his knowledge, talent, integrity and loyalty to his art form. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏽

I was the number one listener of Colter Wall for two years running on Spotify. Then I became number 2. I got some work to catch up and excede.
haha same here, tyler childers took first on the third year
I had a .01% top listener msg as well. Should probably broaden the ear a bit
This man set the tempo of my life a few years back...saved me from myself.
Yep same here my kids all found it hysterical
Hell yeah i got 13k minutes of colter this year
He actually did a great Whitley impression there for a second😂
I think that was a Lefty impression
Lefty was the most underrated musician of his time!
Colter Wall is most definitely a living country legend!
My absolute favourite singer.
Great to see all the love for Keith Whitley tunes these days

Daryl Singletary too.
Colter Wall is truly a gem. He’s not from our time.
Colter Wall doing Keith Whitley doing Lefty Frizell - love it 💙
Dont forget Guy Clark
