    If you remember, in Victor's flashback, as a child he couldn't chase the toy boat and fell to the ground.
    Now on the pier he manages to run for the first time and overtakes the boats traveling in the background

    When Singed (the doctor) asked "are you willing to loose her", I think he wasn't talking about Jinx dying, but rather that she would not be the same person anymore even if she would survive.
    On a side note, I don't know if you noticed, but in the very last seconds of this episode, when Caitlin was looking in the mirror, look behind her :)

      @@Hohum37 The phrasing doesn't necessarily mean that she ran away from Silco. But that she ran away and left Powder. = Silco. = from Powder or in general.
      My take is that the 'monster' was Silco. And I may be remembering wrong, but this question has come up in previous reactor threads, and I thought a writer confirmed that she is referring to Silco in that scene.

      @@Mi_ZBoth work, and both can be right at the same time. Technically she didn't run from Silco since the second she saw him she started running back to help Powder, but the reason she walked away to begin with was due to her anger damaging the one family member she has left and she saw what she was doing.
      Both make sense, and both work, even at the same time.

    I think that you're correct. Silco isn't the main problem - the way the undercity is treated by Piltover is*. However, Silco is *Vi's* problem, she wants to take him out so that she can get her sister back, and then not be hunted down by him. She's acting towards her own motivations and recruiting Jayce to help.
    Silco is *another* problem for the undercity, and so are the chembarons.

    There's a bit of subtext with where Mel comes from thats not really explained in Arcane. Noxus, where Mel and her family comes from, is a conquering militant nation that believes the strong survive and are respected. You are not to show weakness, its a fatal flaw. I'm sure some people on Patreon might have explained that by now. Most reactors who haven't played League or know its lore aren't aware of that and so don't realize the family dynamics and culture of Mel's situation with her family. Also the "i once had a daughter" is an awesome League reference as well = D.

    • @jayfrancelf
      @jayfrancelf 6 месяцев назад +7

      I think Mel’s flashback does a good job of implying that she comes from a family of militants. You just have to pay attention to it (not saying you didn’t, just speaking generally)

      @edo27 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@jayfrancelf you're def. right it does imply she comes from a fearsome and physically and mentall imposing family. But I think the continent (country?) of Noxus being as dog-eat-dog / survival of the fittest as it is doesn't get explained enough in Arcane for why Mel's mother hated seeing her showings of perceived weakness.

    Nice pickup there in regard to Silco not necessarily being the problem. Most reactors miss this. Get rid of Silco and... so what? One of the crimebosses/Sevika is now in charge. And if we are being honest, most of those crime bosses would probably be even worse than Silco. All the crime bosses are after is profit, at least Silco's overall goal is noble -- independence.
    Something that tends to get overlooked too is that Vi repeatedly makes rather bad mistakes. She's coded as the 'hero' and is likable, but how many of her actions are actually heroic?
    She solves every problem, 'fists first' ... worry about consequences later. She gives up her sister's name, as she's obsessed with vengeance against Silco. ... kind of a big deal that most overlook. And this entire plan of attacking Silco's shimmer production doesn't really make much sense.. at least not as they planned it. Either go in full force, full military invasion, or look for a proper peaceful solution. This in-between action doesn't solve anything.

    • @mrtveye6682
      @mrtveye6682 6 месяцев назад +6

      Good points. Vi has a good heart, but she's indeed not always clever in her choices. As you said, "firsts first" pretty much boils it down. It's understandable though, she grew up with violence, she saw her parents die and had to take care of her little sister, with all that anger and despair inside her. She tried to cope with it by being strong and tough.
      That a sign of great story and character writing. This is not a simple "good VS evil" story, like in so many stories. It's way more complex. All the characters have their flaws, even the main antagonist Silco. He truly cares about Jinx, and he even cares about the undercity - though his ways are often wrong. He's not just plain evil. And that's one of many things that makes this show so outstanding.

    • @Mi_Z
      @Mi_Z 6 месяцев назад +3

      @@mrtveye6682 Agreed. It's not a good vs evil sort of show... although sometimes viewers sort of force that viewpoint onto the show and then seem a bit confused when it doesn't quite fit...
      Silco is bad! He's just missing a mustache to twirl. Vi is the best, good heart and so on.
      But Silco sure seems to go on about loyalty a lot, doesn't he? Independence... well, that's a pretty noble pursuit actually. He does seem to really care for Jinx too.
      Oh no, the mustache doesn't fit anymore.
      Same with Vi, good heart and so on. But she does make an awful lot of bad decisions... repeatedly... and there are definitely ramifications that would fit better if she was a 'bad guy'.

      She really did give up her sister's name, even Catelyn was hesitating on this part, I think she just doesn't think things true, maybe because she grew up in prison and all that so she's stuck on the teenage part of her mind and doesn't think of consequences

    Thank for you understanding that simply removing Silco from power does not yield the solution they truly need. I love watching Arcane reactions, but so many creators just see this show as another good guy vs bad guy show, ESPECIALLY when it comes to Silco, and it drives me up the wall.

    • @-Zikade-
      @-Zikade- 2 месяца назад +1

      Lol ikr. The way the reactor sees Silco is pretty much my test for their intelligence and whether I even bother to watch further. If it's one of those "oh Silco is the villain so everything he does/says is wrong bad evil and I refuse to even think of his perspective" then yeah bye. Hate it when people insist turning such a complex show to some easy to digest good guy vs bad guy shit. Sometimes it seems they actually pay no attention to what the characters are going through, what kind of world they live in, and instead only latch onto the early setup. E.g. Silco when we first see him does seem like your typical "Bond villain" but then the story opens up and we see all the layers. Yet some people just go like "But he was introduced as a villain so I must always think of him as THE villain we need to defeat. Cuz apparently I need clear good and evil so I know who to root for." Ugh. Annoys the fuck out of me when people try to MAKE it all one-dimensional. That sort of thing shits on this beautiful narrative.

    yet again Vi betrays her sister by giving her up to the council , all she does is causing pain to her sister . this version of Powder/Jinx is unstable for sure , however she will stabilize . she is currently in an internal fight between who she should become gentle Powder or the monsterous Jinx , but when she picks a side she'll be fine , even if she becomes a monster at least she doesn't have to be torn apart anymore . and honestly I don't blame her or Silco for chosing this path , they fight for their home , their ways might be wrong but I can sympathize with them . VI will probably chose to fight with the inforcers side , and thats one of the many reasons why i hate her , cause the inforcers are the ones who killed their parents , she has no sense of Honor no responsibility . she is a trach character .

In the first ep when Powder told Vi about the Gem stones , she asked if she should show Vander ,but Vi refused and kept it a secret which was the first reason to why things are the way they are now .
      also when Vander was dying he told her to take care of Powder ,but she abandoned her when she needed her the most . she didn't live up to none of Vander's wishes .
      also Vi manipulated Powder by telling her she was strong but in the back of her mind she always believed her sister to be a jinx.
      Vi has never made a good choice so far . choices have ramifications , and every thing that is happening or yet still to happen is on Vi .

      @@Bill-pg9jt Vi is a great character... because she's a flawed character.
      Yep, she has made a lot of questionable decisions. And bad choices. She's not a generic, can-do-no-wrong, hero, although the show codes her as the 'hero'.
      Silco is also the 'villain', but has many traits found in 'good guys'.
      And that's what makes the characters in the show great. I actually find Ekko the most boring character, as he's seemingly the least flawed.
