It would be cool if Nintendo made a Game & Watch amiibo that doubles as an actual Game & Watch that can unlock or download some exclusive Game & Watch themed DLC and themes to certain games
Great review! 👍 I'm an avid Nintendo G&W collector as well and have them all boxed. As well as, many Nintendo G&W flyers & merchandise. However, I'm still missing "Headache" (British version of Helmet). My collection lacks also NOA Pocket Size series (which I'm giving serious thoughts to collect them!) Having that said, there are distributors' names which were imposed on the G&W consoles (such as, CGL, MEGO, J.i 21... etc). But, I'm not sure if I'm going to hunt them!
Pat's book is excellent, certainly one of my favorite at this point and the highest quality paper/color I've yet encountered in self published books. The layout, in my opinion, is perfectly fine... to have a layout like this one would require an impossible amount of space; it'd be akin to buying a set of encyclopedias lol Otherwise, I ordered the english translation of this one half a year ago or so, and it's also awesome... They really did their research for this one.
@nonlegend Well if you're a graphics designer then I'll cede you undoubtedly have a more trained eye for that sort of thing than I do. I think for we laymen it's quite nice (especially compared to many of the other self-published video game books I've bought, such as the "he tried but gosh it's bad" Sega Master System Encyclopedia), but I don't doubt that it has obvious flaws to those with design experience. I was personally taken with the quality of the book and thick, glossy paper, the enormous (and I imagine costly) use of color on every page, the comprehensive information offered for each title and all connected hardware including first hand accounts, and the very impressive fact that I don't recall coming across a single spelling error. For a self-published book, that's quite rare lol Perhaps he ought to look into updating it... Regardless, he's failing to keep up with demand as it is so I doubt he's feeling much pressure to change it up.
There are 600+ words on each page of the book featuring two games per page. I welcome anyone to come up with a "pretty" way to pack that amount of information and pictures about 800 games into a book without it being 800 pages long. :)
Ah Pat it's you haha, didn't expect you here! I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for something... When I ordered the book on paypal I initially gave you the wrong email/shipping, and you immediately sent out the digital download again to my proper email and got the book sent to my Apt. Given how busy you were getting the books ready and shipping them out, I was really impressed with how fast you responded (literally like a few hours) and made the changes, including sending me another digital download code, as I've had past mistakes on ebay and elsewhere that either take ages or are never resolved. So, thanks for that, and its easily my favorite self-published-video-game-book to date (believe it or not I have quite a few from that exceedingly specific genre haha). Also, I love the phone app! I one was available for quite a few other consoles... Need to find a "Steve the Genesis Punk" or something lol. Are you knowledgeable/interested enough in the SNES to come up with something similar? I know the N64 isn't really your cup of tea and lacks third party or elusive titles anyway.
For Game and Watch games, I have Zelda, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight, Mario's Cement Factory, Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros., and the re-release of Ball.
I only have three now Tropical Fish :) Manhole Donkey Kong As a kid I had Donkey Kong 2, it was my favorite handheld game when I was 2-4 but then one of my aunts borrowed it, some neighbor played it, got upset and slammed it against a table, I spent my entire childhood trying to find a new one or repair mine to no avail. Now despite not being overly rare it's pretty expensive for what it is so I don't feel like investing in one. I know Tropical Fish is one of the rarest and most expensive and I do love it, play it from time to time and enjoy it but I wish I could find Donkey Kong 2 at a reasonable price too. I also had Nu Pogodi, the Russian one with the wolf catching eggs, but my cousin dunked it in water because why the hell not, so that's dead.
I think he should think about redoing some of his older reviews of interesting consoles. I would love to see reviews of things he did in the past but with his better production quality. like now he can review this new book and make it this interesting. I want too see a revamped version of his fairchild channel f video but with gameplay and just better video making skills
Think about it.I dont think im alone here. You got plenty to work with. Even avgn went back sometimes and revamped older material. I just want to hear your more modern take on your older obscure console reviews.
hi i need help finding a game title for snes or n64 had it as a kid but not sure what it was called it had a karate rabbit and i want to say boxing kangaroo maybe it was not paws of fury please help if you know this game title!!!🤔
I have the original G&W ball from a trip of my uncle to USA, but I have no idea what the price is, no box but it works perfectly. Anyone can tell me a price?
I know I've been trying to know the price for a long time, not that I want to sell it, just to know the value. I remember having the box 15 years ago, but don't how I lost it, and I've been searching for it for a very long time.
I recently found one of the tabletop games at a yard sale and I knew I just had to have it

Good stuff! Thanks for sharing, it looks like a great guidebook for the G&WI I just popped in an order for one of the hardcover versions.
Really great looking books! I know that took an insane amount of work. A true labor of love.
Great review! 👍

Such nice page layout. A certain NES guide book could learn from this.
Hope you don't mean the super cool NES PAL-B price guide, do you? ;-)

It looks like it's been selling online in the $40-$50 USD range. (35-45 Euro)
