Hi, I do have a personal experience with local reseller in the Czech Republic (their repair service center for EU is as well located here). I've ordered the Exway Flex last spring and I got the board within 24 hours. I got the hub version and my left motor was making weird noises + one scew came out and couldn't be screwed back in. So I used the 2 year warranty (advantage of buying from local resellers = they need to obey local laws). Exway reseller Stablecam accepted my warranty claim and my board came back within a week with new back truck with new motors mounted in place. I couldn't tell how noisy my motors were after 1100 km, until I could here the fresh new motors sound. Huuuge difference - perhaps a hub motors maintenance video would be helpful as I couldn't find any in the internet (just belt drives everywhere). Now I'm waiting for my remote to come back as the wheel stopped working 🙂 So far great customer experience!
Mode 2, so around 20kmh is around the speed you'd be longboarding at when pushing with your own leg. It's great to use as a hybrid mode or superhuman range extending mode (however much you can do + 30km electric)
Already preordered it, kinda blindly! That will be my first e skate. Already received extra 105 Cloud wheels. Let's see what it will feel like. Deliveries for Europe start in September.
I think I’m going to get this as my first electric skateboard as I have a eccoreco scooter in the uk. Did you buy it from official site? And did the total cost include tax/shipping? Thanks
Thank you for mentioning about the range and other details.I love the design of the board but for me,personally, ride comfort and Range is a plus.Good job with the video
Skater: I can neither confirm or deny at this time this is an electric skateboard.*wink* Police officer: This looks like a regular longboard. You're free to go.*wink* Made me subscribe, keep up the good work. All the best.
Appreciate your work a lot really well done!! Kinda hard to find some good comparable e-longboard review. And by the way after watching your review it gave me the final push to buy it right away :))
If anyone gives a poop lol , I rode 100% to 5% lots of turns braking and hills. On setting 4 literally maxing it out as much as possible . 42 km max attained . And I weight 330lbs at 5”11 this thing is frickin deadly
Great review as usual! I picked the hub version to make it looks more like a regular longboard. It has longer range than the riot, and acceptable acceleration/braking. Having lots of fun with it so far. Looking forward for next review!
@@nicklover9565 this x1max hub has been my favorite and the most frequently used board. There was some issue with the battery but Exway fixed it with no cost. I hope you enjoy yours' as well!
@@ian2052li Heyyy, I am also planning on buying the same X1 max hub version. I've been seeing a lot of scary stories about battery issues and was wondering if you have had any issues since you received your board? Also just curious about how the range the board can get?
I'm currently searching for eboards that are similar to the exway x1 max in terms of the discreet look with the motors and battery hidden inside the board, if there are any other products like this please do lmk
I prefer a broader standing platform, also drop trough or drop mounted trucks for better carving. Exway probably has it's reasons but I wonder about boards like Bustin Sportster Hybrid because it looks and probably feels more like an actual longboard.
Agree. 105mm cloudwheels not a good idea. I already had purchased them, and it was my first time on them. I thought 'wow! this is amazing, these really do live up to the hype!" that was right before I was thrown off the board from wheelbite ....... I might try spacers under the trucks, but .... I dunno. Lower deck height is obviously better.
I have the X1 Pro board with cloud wheels and honestly I’m just careful on not doing tight turns so I don’t have wheel bite. It feels so much better with them on and goes faster but I’m just mindful of not making too tight of a turn
Hey Daniel! Why do you prefer stiff boards? Like you, I owned both types, and right now my main board is a very stiff one, and I find myself missing the feeling of my old boosted v1, especially on the bad roads I have here. Looking at your video, your roads or commute aren't that smooth either, so that's why I'm surprised that you'd pick this as your only board. Is it because you like to go very fast and the rigid stability helps? Would you still take the X1 max if it was the hub version? Cheers, and thanks for the great videos.
Stiff boards feel more “precise” to me. I think the roads I ride on are pretty smooth, most of them anyway. But not smooth enough that I’d use hub motors on my main board.
Was waiting for this review. Disappointed that there's still potentially a wheel bite issue using cloud wheels. I assumed the redesign of board to have a bit of flare near the wheels had been done to specifically address that. Been hoping for awhile that someone would make rubber wheels to fit the X1 too...
I had the OG X1 and I thought it was perfect in terms of size and weight. I got the X1 max for the range but it’s heavier and not as nimble or portable. Also I don’t know why they bothered with a USB C remote when you have to have a usb A to USB C in order to charge it. It literally does not work connected from another USB C. At the end of the day they pay you to say nice things about their product. I wish the reviews were a bit more critical.
I'm still sitting in my room, crying in the corner because these things are illegal in Germany. They legalized E-Scooters last year, but boards are still a no-go because "they don't have a handle". Such bullshit. I just wanna commute to Uni with a bit of fun. It'd legitimately be quicker than taking the sub. But I'm not gonna risk having a 700$ board confiscated by some cop power tripping on a bad day.
its illegal in switzerland too. but a board like this one is kinda hard to see that its electric. and the hub version doesnt look electric at all; you cant tell
Exway sells a handle, lol. I've ridden mine at several ciclavia in LA - where they close down streets to motor vehicles & let ppl walk/bike through main streets on weekends. btw, I have the hub version.
Does the max have all the bells & whistles that were introduced in the flex. Ie, the self- discharge to 70% charge for long term storage, more accurate state of charge? I'm sad that they moved away from the mag-safe charge port...
Hey Daniel, how’s your ankle now? Take care I’m a beginner and finding a long board for fun and communicating which my route consists of uphill n down hill? Do you recommend this x1 max over zealot s? Are these belt drive on them quiet enough to stay low? Cause I’m living in hk where is legal for riding Thanks
Depends if you prefer a stiff deck or flexy deck and your range requirements. They’re both loud enough to be noticeable by pedestrians you’re passing. But if you need to be discreet, the Exway is definitely more discreet. Might even be worth considering the hub motor version.
This board is a bit disappointing in range when you consider a short board like the Tynee Mini which has an advertised 35km with a 313wh battery, which is lighter in weight (16.4) and more portable. I hope on the next iteration of the Exway X1 they bump up the range to at least 15 miles, in the real range test and not using their garbage test which does not accurately measure the range
Personally, I'm eager for a future where boards can go 60+kmph because I live in a hilly area and having the extra power up hills would be nice. However, in your opinion do you think manufacturers will refrain from giving more power to boards for safety or regulations?
For hills what you want is torque, because higher top speed doesn’t mean higher torque. I think price is what’s holding back manufacturers, not safety. If they can build a more powerful board without raising the price, I think they would. The other thing is failure rates. The mass production brands need to keep failure rates lower than the small quantity brands, and one way to do that is to keep the performance more conservative.
Just wanna ask, if you've faced any problems with the deck? Only rode it for 100km and suddenly can't keep it on, not sure if its the esc or the battery, and bit hard getting info from exway service.
I love your videos and they greatly helped in my decision for my first (and most likely only) eskateboard. Since I'm commenting on this video, you're correct to assume I got the X1 Max. After doing some research and riding for about a week, there are a lot of things I learned and figured out through personal experience and online help. However, there are two aspects I still have a good amount of trouble about. My first problem are bearings, I understand it helps (not a game changer but good) but I'm not sure how it would work with hub motors. Do hub motor wheels even have bearings? Then would I only change the bearings on the nonmotor wheels? My other issue is sort of trying to figure out my bushing preference, so I want to ask for your preference on bushings. What combination do you prefer for standard, 30-40 kmh, cruising and carving? Barrel/barrel, barrel/cone, etc. (edit) I completely forgot about this issue, two of the nuts/bolts spins with the screw and the screw head isn't visible at the top of the board. Is it safe for me to remove part of the grip tape and then reapply it, or are the screws not even visible after removing the grip tape? I used two pliers and scratched them up, only doing them once to get my shredlight mounts on the board, but it would be nice to know how I should go around this. In addition I'm slightly under 54kg, is it normal for the board to be very unstable when reaching above 24 kmh? It's with the stock bushings and I adjusted all sorts of combinations based off your video. (edit) I really appreciate your videos, insanely informative. Keep up the amazing work :D.
WowGo 3X costs $599.99 USD, while the ExWay X1 Max is $937.00 USD (The X1Max adds an extra $88.00 USD to the $849.00 USD because of shipping while the WowGo 3X already has it included). Is the $337.00 USD price difference really worth it for the X1Max? Or am I just paying to have the battery inside the deck?
Hey Dan, I own an exway X1 pro and the first X1, have had the X1 for close to 4 years, and 2 years for the pro, its still in really good condition. Would you recommend upgrading to the Max? Also any other aftermarket PU sleeves that would be better for power slides etc
Hi, I am interessed in buying my first esk8 and I have been looking around the internet for a good entry level board. My top options right now are probably the backfire g2 and the wowgo 2s pro and the meepo v4. From what I have heard the wowgo is the better board but i have looked at there reviews on trustpilot and it is more than 25% 1 star reviews and they are almost all about the horrible customer service of wowgo. I would love your advice on this. ps. I live in Europe.
@@DanielKwan And if you would have to choose one? I have also considered the ownboard W1S but I have not done much research on them. Ps, thanks for your time.
@@ericpistons9387 I don't know how long you keep your board. But it will increase the life of your battery. If you throw your board in the trash after 1000km, you don't care.
@@markusbauer7539 I’m just gonna always charge it 100. It hasn’t had any drop of performance or anything. Been rain riding. Riding in dusty roads. Even in salt and ice. Still performs exactly the same as day 1! Exway told me it has lots of charges it should last another 1000 km at least.
Can these boards overheat in normal use? Does any speed demon have experience with them in a hilly region? I'm "asking for a friend" that managed to regularly overheat the mellow drive that has way more cooling judging by the looks
For hills like San Francisco where it’s up and down, most boards shouldn’t overheat. But for large hills where you’re continuously going uphill, some can overheat.
Hi Daniel, amazing amazing videos you are doing! Will you do M5 unknwonboards and Backfire Hammer, I want to buy new board nd don t know which one I shloud go for, I am speed demon guy. Love from Czechia, Prague.
Great review, though would've enjoyed more of a comparison with predecessor (particularly in regards to trucks). When the X1pro came out, it felt like there was genuine hype within the community, especially with the innovation of swappable drive trains. With the Max on the other hand, it just don't feel inspired nor given much upgrades. The range for instance, is not a huge improvement. I know it's not your fault, but do me a favour and have a word with the good folks at Exway. We deserve a new 'Pro' board, with next gen innovations.
I think it goes to show that electric skateboards are approaching the limit of what is possible at this point. Like what more could they do that they still haven’t done yet.
@@winstone1080 There is always room for new innovation. For instance Exway moved to trist trucks, right? (from seismic). No doubt because it's cheaper cost (not necessarily an upgrade and certainly a topic which seemed to be dodged in this review). Surely Exway could feasibly release trucks with suspension. Perhaps choice of custom suspension could become like choosing between street and all-terrain wheels. Limitation only limits you my friend. 🙏
@@garethsamuel3737 dkwan has addressed the trist trucks in previous reviews and they are actually an upgrade over the seismic trucks. Forged and CNC parts make them more consistent, less slop and compatibility with third party bushings because they’re no longer triangles. I think exway has innovated more than any other company with their boards on the atlas and wave. I think the x1 is basically the best that it can be right now, suspension style trucks wouldn’t really make sense for a low profile board like this. I think what I want for the x1 is better range. It already has app configuration, hot swap drivetrain and it looks impossibly sleek. but that’s up to the battery industry at this point.
@@winstone1080 Wow! that's what I call a late reply! You make some good points and you've certainly done your homework! I definitely don't agree, each to there own I guess.

Hello! I'm new to all this electric skateboarding stuff but as i ride a regular longboard pretty much wherever i go i'm looking for a electric one, what board should i get? ( Not gonna spend more than 700$ ) Any good recommendations?
X1 pro Hub motor. You wont be disappointed. Feels like a longboard, looks like a longboard, and as you ride longboards anyway, you would be pushing alot of the time anyway which this board responds really well too. ( not much drag). The only thing you would need to get use too is the sheer weight. 7 kg dont sound like much but when you first pick an eboard up after a normal board the weight can be a surprise.
Daniel: I have a hard time getting my voice out Also Daniel: let's put music over my talking so it's even harder to hear me Other than that great video and exciting to see a new exway X1
Hmm if I need to take the board inside a building and keep it with me, I think I’d prefer taking the Wave since it’s more compact. But for riding home with grocery, I think I’d rather use the X1M since it would be more stable. (I’m just speculating. I have grocery delivered nowadays.)

Just wanna ask, if you've faced any problems with the deck? Only rode it for 100km and suddenly can't keep it on, not sure if its the esc or the battery, and bit hard getting info from exway service.
And no... not water damaged, basically used it for about a week?
Keep up the amazing work :D.
screw heads are under the foam. I actually took a box cutter & cut a '+' & can tighten without removing the foam.
Well, there ist no other board with this feature..
what's more comfortable exway wave or this?
this
Hey Dan, I own an exway X1 pro and the first X1, have had the X1 for close to 4 years, and 2 years for the pro, its still in really good condition. Would you recommend upgrading to the Max? Also any other aftermarket PU sleeves that would be better for power slides etc
Looks great 👌. Just iffy about the charge port. Is it really part of the truck? And they 'fixed' the issues with the trist trucks? Great vid again 🤙
It doesn't appear to be part of the truck it just guards the port and sits ontop of it
What kind of shoes do you have
Supra Skytop amzn.to/3eK3dkI
What about voltage sag with the X1 Mac
There is gradual sag but not extreme for me. May be more noticeable for heavier riders.
@@DanielKwan Okay, then it shouldn't be a problem as I'm not that heavy. Compared to the Zealot S, does the X1 Max have more torque or less?
@@sebastianmoser2478 I’m not sure. Many things can influence the feeling of speed so best to compare side by side. Probably similar.
Is this a good beginner board for a 210 pound dad to use
Yes, just be aware the range and performance may be noticeably lower for your weight.
Where did you see it has a 12 month warranty? The product page shows me 6 months :(
Argh… the data sheet they sent me showed 12 months. Sorry seems it should be 6.
I haven’t tried the Meepo. For the other two, the WowGo has better specs. Backfire has the best worldwide aftersale support.
@@DanielKwan And if you would have to choose one? I have also considered the ownboard W1S but I have not done much research on them. Ps, thanks for your time.
@@hugobackman4279 WowGo 2S Pro or Backfire G2? I’d choose the WowGo.
@@DanielKwan Okay, thanks so much for your help and hopefully I won't have any problems.
Is it bad if I charge it always after I’m done? I bring it to work and charge it even tho it’s at 40-50
Charging to 100% ist really bad for the battery. Always charging to 80% helps keeping the battery healthy
@@markusbauer7539 I been charging it to 100 and it’s been fine for 700km!
If its battery was swappable dang 😂.
If you want to hide the electric power why didn't you choose the hub ?
I like to change wheels sometimes
My buddy and I like to ride our boards 2x or more a week but his atlas has been having major problems after only a few weeks of use im looking for answers so we can get back to riding but exway wont respond and RUclips doesn't have answers PLS HELP
Send me details and order number via my website pls
@@DanielKwan will do! Thank you!
7 kg dont sound like much but when you first pick an eboard up after a normal board the weight can be a surprise.
it would be perfect if they use vtc6 instead of li-po packs.
Swapping the battery out might be an issue on this board.
FYI the remote now has usb-c port. At least the one I receive with my board.
Daniel: I have a hard time getting my voice out
Also Daniel: let's put music over my talking so it's even harder to hear me
Other than that great video and exciting to see a new exway X1
Are you going to review the milesboard sex panther when its released?
Not planning to
@@DanielKwan why not?
Awesome & Thanks :)
One question: what is the battery expectancy life? And another one: What if the battery fails?
Why would anyone buy 0.8kg havier board thats basically the same specs as x1 pro but 20% more expensive? I just can't justify buying the x1 max
cuz the pro isn’t sold anymore 😭
@@AhmedHassan-bt5lz depends on country, in Czech there are still some left however the price increased...
Who else is watching this in bed🛏 with no 🧦 ????!!
😢 soon bro, we'll get one for ourselves.
Hang five dude! 😂😂😂
Compared to the wave, whats the portability and real life usability of each board? Like which are you using for grocery runs?
Hmm if I need to take the board inside a building and keep it with me, I think I’d prefer taking the Wave since it’s more compact. But for riding home with grocery, I think I’d rather use the X1M since it would be more stable. (I’m just speculating. I have grocery delivered nowadays.)

Don’t like boards without cloud wheels 😕
Hi i come back to your channel you're still the same kind lovely ❤😊 I might like to travel with electric skateboard
