Hey Mike, Thanks for heading me in the right direction. Those four connectors, on the transmission control box out under the hood on the firewall, definitely were a problem with my PT not shifting out of 1st gear. But just cleaning them did not solve my problem. Mine turned out to be the rectangular rubber gaskets inside the removable connector. They expand and push the connector away from the transmission box and lose connection. This happens when they get hot causing the rectangular gaskets to expand. Looking into the plug you can see one per connector. They are light blue in color and are very soft flexible rubber. Using a sharp pointed tool I removed the gaskets and now they snap back easily to the transmission control box. No problem now with shifting. I realize the gaskets are there to keep the connections dry and clean. So as you reconnect each plug use a piece of electrical tape to seal them.
I have a 2001 PT Cruiser sometimes it will not shift out of first and sometimes it will not shift out of second and sometimes it works perfect I'm going to try this thank you I checked all the fluids everything seems to be fine when it works it works perfect what I find myself doing is resetting the key I'm definitely going to try this thank you great information
I'm also going to check all the grounds for some reason my gas gauge is also acting up it is always onE this is something else I have to check into and thank you again for the great video
My 2004 PT Cruiser will sometimes stay in second gear after running , but it won't shift to third gear unless I do a quick off / on with the ignition switch and then it will shift into third or fourth gear , but not always . I sometimes have to shift into "NEUTRAL" after I did the "OFF / ON " switch , wait a few seconds , then shift back into "DRIVE" so that it will shift into third gear . I have always thought that it was dirty connectors because the problem was intermittent . I will try your method this weekend and let you know what I found out .

I drive an 06 PT Cruiser GT Although i havent been able to get a fuse box or tipm as they call it Part number 56049719AH They tell me they have to order one from the dealer ship and that they're on back order. i live in Florissant where it rains and snows every other day this winter. Havent been able to get one from a junk yard that's not soaked. They all tell me that there's a difference between a touring and gt, or they'll have to have a dealer ship program it. I can't drive to a dealership because my car is in limp mode 25 miles an hour

Happened yesterday but all day before the Internet the car was driving fine I managed to check the oil in the transmission and it was a bit low so I editor and that seem to fix it for a moment but the car would jolt from a stop to accelerating

Where is the transmission on a standard 2005 PT CRUISER? My daughter was in an accident 2 day's before her dad passed away we had the damaged in front we had it fixed but it smells like something is burning 😥😥😥😥😥
My PT 2006 stuck on 3 gear but when i turn of the car is coming back to 1 gears then i start the engine and the lcd on the car panel where writeing P R N D start blinking and then is stuck again in 3 gear. any one have idea how to solve this problem ? thanks
but when i put it on sport mode (on the gearbox after the D you have sport mode which allows moving the gears manual) and it works fine. but when is on D the car after the LCD (wheres the driver sit where is write P R N D on the panel down of the temp clock ) the LCD blinking the gear stuck in 3 gear even if i try to change it back to sport mode is still stuck on 3 gear until i turn off the engine

Do you have any codes? This is what I will do first if I was you. check the connections on the TCM and clean it also check the wiring, that it is also in good condition. Check the condition of the fluid, it should be a nice lite red and not dark red. If dark red then you need to change your trans fluid ATF +4! It's synthetic, don't forget the filter. Could be a solenoid but like I said need a code first so you don’t start spending money on parts you don’t need. Clean all the plugs one by one tic transmission and have auto zone check your battery. Your wipers work like they supposed to or you having problems? My radio went bad when I was driving on my 2002 neon and the car wouldn’t start there was a message on the dashboard No bus. Chryslers, dodge , Jeep are build with cheap Chinese parts just like there sister fia lmao 😂. I’m always working on them. Good luck
I have an 01 with a manual tranny seems to be stuck in 2nd gear...also wen I try to start the vehicle with the clutch depressed it wants to start in gear even with the clutch pedal depressed

I just recently replace the timing belt also the water pump all tensioners and all the belts engine runs perfect

My Astro van did the same thing. Acted like fuel pump gave out. Here it wasa bad corroded ground wire. Clean it up
Fired up and no problem now
Replaced my TIPM with one from a wrecking yard. Fixed it. Thank u!!

You going to have to hook it up to the big computer in the shop could be the computer of the car it's fried
